how does one look at teenage Ivan who's described as charming and prince-like more than once and whom everyone in Anakt Garden and their mom have a crush on, and come to the conclusion that yeah no actually he has no idea how to act around people :( he's just trying to establish a connection in the only way he knows why are Sua and Till being so MEAN and pushing him away when he deliberately taunts them and anticipates that very reaction:(((

#no genuinely like #I don't think they could've made it more clear than Ivan actually loves fucking with Sua and especially Till #There are So many official arts of Sua looking like her soul's been sucked out of her #w/ Ivan visibly overjoyed #ivantill are self-explanatory I think #it's even been outright stated by viviment multiple times #not everything about Ivan is a facade that needs to be dismantled😭#You can make points about how Ivan wished he had a more genuine connetion with Till #or that some a part of the reason why he shows affection by teasing is insecurity #without completely erasing the very obvious fact that he takes immense enjoyment in these interactions #alnst #alien stage #alnst ivan

There’s just something about ignoring that Ivan’s attempts to connect with the two people he loves most frequently take the form of projection or behavior that pushes their boundaries, all while withholding any real vulnerability himself, and then reducing it to him merely trying to 'fit in' while casting Sua and Till as needlessly cruel for, naturally, reacting to that provocation

#aside from how yall are taking the last comic TOO fucking seriously and it's just jarring #like I love how he gets enrichment from annoying his loved ones he's so funny #(and also *some of it* is obviously his way of getting attention without risking rejection)#(key word is 'some of it')#(he also very much loves fucking with Till especially)#ignoring the clearly comedic tone #treating him as this poor victim who's getting bullied 24/7 while on his best behavior #or acting like he's not aware of what he's doing #and then going on to demonize the two people he's definitely hurt in the canon universe in some ways #...is a choice #againn the comic was obviously not serious #but idk personally I really love this loop of like #Ivan limiting his interactions w Till and Sua to almost exclusively teasing #(at best)#in order to not risk any possible rejection or vulnerability #getting the expected reaction in response #and then this feeding into his mindset of being incapable of establishing any meaningful connection #idk the self-sabotage of it all #the feedback loop #but yeah acting like he's unaware of what he's doing #(or that he also in some way isn't having the time of his fucking LIFE annoying them lol)#is such a disservice to his character #and to Sua and Till's #alien stage #alnst #alnst ivan

also –probably obvious to everyone else I'm just dumb as shit– I originally read that as 'obedience' and was wondering what the first word was buuut it's not obviously, it's "be obedient", and it just occured to me that unlike the other 5 where they're actual tests, this is probably just them trying to test him on a skill and/or ability -> him not complying -> andd therefore them proceeding to beat the living shit out of him as punishment. like it could originally be a test of his obedience, but the 'be obedient' thing is a sorta warning I mean?
