Skipping Formalities | Touko & Kyouhei
"Hm? You’re kinda stubborn, aren’t you~?" She took a second to tug at her wrist bands."Well if you’re sure…I’ll probably let you pay then!" She decided cheerily, careful to not put a ton of emphasis on the ‘probably’. "I really like my snacks though!~"
"Uh…maybe when I apologize I can do it from…the other side of the campus. ‘Hope’ isn’t enough to reassure me.." Being shocked was not on her to-do list. Touko hums, almost in a response to the male’s sigh, as she walks on. "Hey, hey, are you usually this reluctant with others? Or am I just off-putting~?" she teases a bit, noticing his distracted glances.
Releasing a rather un-ladylike huff, followed by a small smile. “Nah, I get it!! I used to go to tons of movies alone, and in retrospect it really isn’t too bad. But imagine when you’re all old and saggy,” she quickened her pace and turned to demonstrate by pulling at her face, “Like this! And you can’t walk or move much at all, the friends you made and kept through you’re younger years will be there! Sitting old and saggy with you! So…I guess I gave up being able to wrap up my own thoughts, for chances at life-long buds!” She slowed down, returning to her place, “But, I’m not forcing beliefs on you, of course. Just explaining why I decided to ask a stranger to a movie~”
"I can be, when I want to," he agrees lightly, with his hands in his pockets. By now, it's too stupid to try and deny that he's a stubborn person, after all. "It's okay. I like my snacks too, I have money to spend on them, so stop worrying and let me pay for them. You bought the tickets already."
He lets out a snort at her comment, shaking his head. "Nope, Teo will probably want the apologies face to face. He really likes walks, he's probably sad that he won't get to run around like he usually does. So, you get to apologize to him." He says it with a tone of finality, fiddling with the keys in his pocket to distract himself. Her question catches him off guard, though, making his attention move back to her and for a moment, he's not quite sure what to say before he replies. "I'm usually by myself or with someone really close to me, not someone I just met. It's just how things are."
Isolating himself had to stop, though - he promised Touya he'd try, so he has to try, and as uncomfortable as he feels, he has to do more than just go along. He has to make actual conversation! Interact! And Arceus this shouldn't make him want to go back to his room, it's supposed to motivate him. Okay.
"I know you're not forcing beliefs on me. It's a conversation, and I'm not forcing mine on you, either." Kyouhei tells her, his tone a little softer. "However, people don't exactly stay for that long. Maybe you've had more luck that I have, but I don't know anyone from when I was little with whom I'm still on friendly terms. So, when I'm 'old and saggy', I'll just be coming to the movies by myself, like I've been doing for a while. People always end up leaving. So, I prefer to do things by myself."
