We have a healthy blueberry-sized baby boy! We got to see his heartbeat flicker on the screen, but it’s too early to hear it. His heart rate is 119 bpm. The gestational sack and yolk sack are perfect! He is measuring right on track at 6 weeks 3 days. I’ll be back next week to check on our little miracle. We are beyond grateful for this blessing! My bloodwork came back perfect! My hCG levels have increased from 187 to 479 in 48 hours, so my numbers doubled like they were supposed to. We couldn’t be any more thrilled! My next appointment will be in 2 weeks with my OB/GYN. We’ll get to hear baby boy’s heartbeat 💙. The results of my first blood test are in...🥁🥁🥁 I can officially say I am 4 weeks PREGNANT today! My hCG level is 187, and it needs to be over 50. I’ll have another blood test Tuesday to make sure my numbers are increasing appropriately. If so, I’ll have an ultrasound at 6.5 weeks to hear baby boy’s heartbeat! @theikeadcock & I started trying to conceive in 2014, and I never could have anticipated how long and difficult this journey would be. I am missing this sweet soul more than usual today. When anything happens, good or bad, Nanny is still the first person who I want to call. There are so many hopeful and exciting things going on in my life right now, but the grief of her not being here often robs me of experiencing joy like I should. This morning I found out that I have been accepted into the Higher Education Administration Ed.D. program at USM! I now have the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream I have had to pursue a doctoral degree. I had countless conversations with Nanny about how challenging it would be for me to obtain this degree, and she encouraged me every step of the way. My love for education undoubtedly comes from her, and I am so incredibly grateful for the educational foundation and values she instilled in me at such a young age ❤️. National Infertility Awareness Week begins today. As I sit here beaming at the thought that our now 8 day old precious baby boy embryo is growing inside of me, I can’t help but remember the wave I’ve had to ride to get to this point. One thing that has surprised me most throughout our 5-year infertility struggle is many people are still afraid to talk about it. I used to think it was because infertility was viewed as taboo, but I have realized that many people simply don’t know what to say, and that’s okay. Some of my close family and friends have admitted that they don’t want to say the wrong thing and risk hurting my feelings. Truthfully, not talking about it hurts the most because it makes me feel alone and damaged; that’s the worst feeling. We need to end the silence and discuss infertility openly and honestly. The highs, the lows, the failures, and the successes equally make up the journey that has made who I am. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. I saw God today! It is a good Good Friday, indeed! 🙌 All of the medications, bloodwork, ultrasounds, procedures, acupuncture, travel, and money is worth it just to experience the miracle we witnessed today! Our perfect 6 day old 5AA embryo is now safely on board. He is already hatching from his shell! Baby boy is now safely onboard!Isaac got to see him live in the incubator, and we both got to see him put in via ultrasound 😍 I’ll spend the next two days on bed rest to give our little guy a chance to get comfy and hopefully implant in his home for the next 9 months! We’ll find out in 9 days if he decided to stick around. We are feeling overwhelming grateful and blessed.
