this is also so interesting bc like. i am personally a young-ish member of fandom? late teens? but a lot of the time i feel like i’m older bc a lot of my fellow fans are early- to mid-teens, and then sometimes, like now, i am slapped across the face by the fact that the people writing the stunning lotr and mdzs and merlin fic i love to dive into (ahem. not looking at the blog i reblogged this from but definitely looking at the blog i reblogged this from) are often in their twenties to thirties and above, getting married, having kids, etc.
and it just really makes me happy to think about how
loving characters and worlds and stories so much you want to contribute to them is really a universal thing regardless of age or background, not a phase but a hobby
i, as a college freshman, don’t have to and shouldn’t compare my work quantity or quality to that of people who may have been writing for years and years longer than i have
all my favorite authors are not just automatons creating specific kinds of content, but whole people with lots of different interests and passions and life stories, sharing what they are passionate about with other whole people on the internet
and idk it just warms my lil heart
