you are automatically way more innocent in your own oppression as a gay, trans, disabled person because of your whiteness.

One day ppl will understand that Greek gods aren’t tyrants with superpowers but rather forces of nature that are capable of both extreme cruelty and kindness and that they were used to explain the harsh and confusing realities that Ancient Greeks had to live through every single day and why they set up certain rules and customs.

I find it really disappointing that the incredibly basic statement "Pronouns don't equal gender and presentation doesn't equal gender and presentation doesn't equal pronouns" Was only an accepted and respected take in the broader queer community for about two years and now we've regressed so far that it's seen not just as silly but as borderline problematic to expect people to gender you correctly if you use he/him as a fem presenting person or she/her as a masc presenting person or neutral pronouns as a person who is not 100% perfectly androgynous. But you're not allowed to be androgynous either because apparently genderfuckery is actually harmful to binary trans people and if you don't conform to cis patriarchal standards you're just as bad as the oppressors enforcing them because you might make somebody a little uncomfortable... right.

To be quite frank I think that every single person who thinks it matters more that they had fun than the fact that Nolan cast Helen of Sparta as a Black woman only to add a completely original scene where she is “punished” with abuse and mutilation, that the Odyssey production company dumped plastic props into the ocean, that they also refused to compensate the group in Norway who made the authentic trireme replica after they damaged it, and the fact that Zendaya wore fucking looted earrings stolen from Iran and permanently damaged just to be used on the red carpet, shouldn’t speak about how people are “annoying” for thinking that a story that completely warps and misunderstands an epic from a culture that has been appropriated by racist white people for hundreds of years is badly written. And that they should shut the fuck up

Edit: I’d like to add that the Christianizing of the Ancient Greek understanding of what gods are is rooted in white supremacy. It is this idea that there is only one way to view divinity and that way is the way of the religion that has bulldozed and annihilated any other way of believing by murdering and colonizing Black and brown and indigenous people. It’s fucking exhausting seeing people defend it over and over with “it’s his interpretation!”. People, his interpretation is rooted in white supremacy.

Edit 2: It’s also frustrating to see people misunderstand Helen of Sparta, since that’s her real title; she wasn’t politicized and she wasn’t treated like the prize in the war. She was fucking kidnapped. I understand that that makes you uncomfortable but she was stolen from her home and that’s a really important aspect of the story, actually. Making Menelaus mutilate and abuse her for being kidnapped is not only one of the most egregious misunderstandings of his character I have ever seen, but really weird when you consider that change was made in an adaptation where Helen is Black. You watched a scene in a movie directed and written by white people where a white man mutilated and humiliated a Black woman and somehow, some way, the fact that you had fun is more important.

1: there are to many plot holes, like I've said before dropping a random hole in the middle of THE OCEAN is sloppy writing, there are dragons that cant fly, so how would one get to the Hidden World? (even if you say "we dont see any dragons that cant fly l, and the shows AREN'T canon.😠" Yes, yes we do in httyd 1 during the book of dragons scene, you can SEE a Speed Stinger on one of the pages, so yes there are dragons that cant fly. 🤓☝️ " well even then they can run on water, so they can get to the Hidden World.😑" WRONG how would they get INTO it without flying in? Do they jump and hope for the best? Do they have other dragons help fly them down?🤔) To fix this i feel like maybe a cave would have been better. (I might be wrong on this part, but I think during the movies we only see one type of dragon that cant fly, that being the Speed Stinger, but they can run on water, so a cave would have been the smartest option to go with.😄👍)

2: the villain makes no sense. (I don't remember his name hes that forgettable😭🙏) he honestly feel like a less good Viggo. (" well actually they are both very different from one eachother.☝️" No not really they both powerful dragon hunters, that both want to take down Hiccup, and want to KILL Toothless, oh did i mention the part about being powerful dragon hunters? 🙄 "Well actually with that logic, then you could say that about all dragon hunters, including Dagur, so your reasoning is wrong.😒" Ok maybe if you think like, that but Dagur was different in his own ways, he wasn't a copy paste design of Viggo. When this villain guy is.😔) To fix this, they should have made a NEW cool villain, that had different motives.😄👍

3: the lightfurys design (i feel like i dont really need to go in depth about this one. She is BASICALLY a copy and paste of a Nightfury design😭. When i first watched the movie, it didnt click in my brain she was a DIFFERENT TYPE OF DRAGON, BECAUSE THEY LOOK THE SAME. "Well ofc it would be a different type of dragon, it was literally said in the movie..." IK but the two DIFFERENT types of dragons look the SAME😭. If you're going to make a new dragon make it look different in it own cool way😭. "They probably kept her looking kinda like Toothless, so it would be more believable that they would mate." ... AT THAT POINT MAKE IT THE SAME TYPE OF DRAGON😡 ITS NOT THAT HARD.) To fix this, make her either look different, or make her A NIGHTFURY

4: the ending came out of nowhere ( the ending was weird, I've said this before, if you were to send the dragons away at anytime why not during the second movie, when you could see what could happen with a alpha dragon in the wrong hands😭? (Ik I've been doing like two sides, like my pov and a fans of the movies pov, but I truly cant think of any reason to try and fight my opinion 😅 sorry this one.is short 😔.)

5: I feel like it was rushed (from all my points above ☝️"no the movie was perfect it wasn't rushed" ... 🤨 the plot holes... thats all im gonna say)

They introduced the warlords for NO REASON.

They introduced THREE possible big bads. They hinted that these three were important. WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THREE WHOLE MOVIES.

They could have made it so Grimmel was only the "Big Bad" because of his control over the death grippers. And when he's defeated, the three warlords get their own movie to shine.
