hello ! this is my age-re sideblog. i only really post about it in regards to fandom so no personal info is really relevant.

you can call me eight (like the number). my favorite color is pink and i love bugs and sweets very much. any pronouns are fine.

little grace headcanons 🦊

warning for some mild angst. sorry gracie

he has a really strong oral fixation. he'll chew on anything he can get his mouth on, pen caps, sweater sleeves, the ears of his favorite plushie (sorry buddy) – nothing is safe from his fangs. candy and chewelry (plus a pacifier, when he's teeny) are helpful but sometimes he just wants to chew on the skin of his fingers anyways..

he likes puzzles! rubik's cubes, kanoodle, doing brain teasers– when he's a little older, he loves being forced to think a little harder while playing, keeping his head and his hands busy. he thinks board games are fun too, but he gets a little too competitive at times.

his regression range is a little big, from an itty bitty baby all the way to a slightly more independent 8 year old. he tends to lean younger when he's more stressed, though.

he gets pretty antsy about being alone when little, but if you think ryland grace would ask anyone to watch over him at his most vulnerable you are very wrong. it will probably take an involuntary regression at the worst possible time for anyone to even find out he's little.

the second he has someone watching over him, though, he's the clingiest baby ever. likes touching his caregiver at all times, even if it's just leaning onto them and feeling their arms touch or holding onto their sleeve.

he likes watching bill nye while regressed. often falls asleep with it on and then wakes up on the couch on a weekday with a pacifier in his mouth and his plushie on the floor and feels a lot of unpleasant emotions about it.

keeps his little gear hidden in the darkest corner of his closet and is very hesitant to pull it out in the presence of other people. sometimes it's like he's afraid someone will take his things away..

often feels like he shouldn't be a regressor because he's a teacher

cries Very easily normally, so he's obviously a crier when he's regressed. don't be mean to him even as a joke, he'll cry so hard he makes himself sick :(

sometimes he shuts down when he regresses involuntarily due to sheer exhaustion. too tired to even try to take care of himself, he usually falls asleep fully clothed on his carpet sucking his thumb.

if someone helped, he might be able to think about his regression more kindly. you'll have to patient with him though.

really, he just needs someone to take of him like he's something precious.

Here's a middle regressed Grace aboard the Hail Mary who is self-conscious about his strong emotions, and especially the fact that he cries so often. He knows he can't hide from Rocky, but in this state (even if he leans young,) they got an understanding that "hiding" means he needs some time alone.

He's tucked into a corner, knees pulled up to his chin. And he is trying SO hard not to cry again. His body rigid, breath held, eyes screwed shut. The effort it takes not to make a sound and to keep back the tears is giving him a headache. Entire body trembling from the effort just to keep from crying.

Rocky's not going to ignore that.

He'll approach wordlessly and simply sits with his Grace. Trying to get him to talk is s fruitless endeavour. So he sits, nudging the xenonite ball against Grace to connect. And before he knows it, Grace's posture relaxes and he launches himself against the ball, hugging the structure with the same force he was just holding himself. There he can finally let some tears spill.

No words are needed.

Rocky understands.

And Rocky won't judge

little grace regressing for the first time in space?

ohhh anon this is so evil yes absolutely

he has no idea what regression is, obviously. he barely even knows why he's in space at this point

since grace's regression tends to be triggered by stress, i imagine being an amnesiac in the middle of space with no way home would 100% be enough to make him drop involuntarily.

he doesn't know Why he feels the way he does, but he definitely feels it, and he doesn't know how to deal with it either

he's alone, and scared, and lost, and suddenly so so small and he has no idea what to do with it

a lot of crying. loud crying. grace is usually a quiet sniffler, but without his memories he wails with 0 restraint. what would be the point in holding back anyways? he's alone.

he wails, and he pulls at his own hair and chews on his fingers until armando eventually has to gently restrain him so he doesn't injure himself –

when he eventually exhausts his energy he curls up under his quilt and sits near the robot (closest thing to a caretaker) until he falls asleep, tears still running down his face

he regresses a few times after that – but they're less explosive each time until eventually he can drop without hurting himself, although he still cries a lot. he's not very good at caring for himself when he's small, but luckily he has a nanny-robot and eventually an alien best friend to take care of him :)

i think his first memory about his regression would come back when he finds some of his gear packed with his stuff. maybe a pacifier or a plushie. things make a lot more sense afterwards but he's also a bit embarrassed about the whole thing.

The people are curious, of course, why Ryland is hiding in her like a frightened child, but they're too intimidated by Stratt to vocalize it.

And Stratt doesn't put any attention to it , actually, and it solidifies the idea that people probably ought not to ask if she's not the one bringing it up

Agere Ryland Grace Headcanons 🛰️

I am a writer and will happily oblige! Here’s some hcs I’ve been kicking around in my head since I saw the movie in theaters because he absolutely activated my caregiver brain cell. PLEASE yap with me about phm agere (esp classification/littles-are-known au), I can’t stop thinking about it lmao

CW: angst, “impure”/stress-induced regression

☆ Grace regresses to 2-4. Normally he’s not in a super young headspace, but stress can make him drop lower. He’s mostly verbal, but is prone to shut downs where words just won’t come out.

☆ #1 “I don’t regress” denier. He knows what age regression is, but unpacking why he does it is not something he has time for. That doesn’t stop him from looking online at regression content and shops and yearning, though.

☆ Stress is the main trigger for his regression. He has a terrible work-life balance, and the feeling of being small builds and builds until he’s sobbing his eyes out the second he’s alone in his apartment. A younger headspace is his brain’s way of finally forcing out all of that yucky emotion he’s kept inside since he was a kid.

☆ He’s terrible at taking care of himself when regressed. Grace tries to plan around it by making sure he has plenty of snacks and bath things laid out, but work keeps him busy so he forgets :(. He’ll go a day without drinking water and forgets to eat anything of actual nutritional value. A pack of Twizzlers is not a meal lil man!!!!

☆ Grace’s regression gear consists of a lego brick chew he got from the school’s mental health fair and a Warmies goose plush that he impulse bought when small. He calls her Goose (that’s Dr Goose to you) and talks to her a lot. He got her a pair of goggles and a lab coat so they can match :] He’s also a big fan of any fluffy blankets and big shirts that make him feel physically smaller. A typical small outfit for him is baggy shorts/sweatpants, socks, and a big sweater.

☆ Insists he doesn’t need a caregiver or anyone to take care of him when he gets “like that,” but when he’s small he wants nothing more than someone to be there. He knows it’s time to take a bath and get ready for bed (especially from the notes he leaves himself), but no one is there to rinse his hair and keep the soap from getting in his eyes. Everything is overwhelming and he just wants to sit and wait for someone warm and safe to make sense of it. The loneliness eats him alive, but Grace can take care of himself, trust (sarcasm).

☆ Very shy when small until you get to know him and then he becomes an excitable yapper. That’s not to say that the yapping is comprehensible, but he has lots to say regardless. Regressed Grace is also really emotional, expect lots and lots of tears. His anxiety gets a lot worse and he needs reassurance that he isn’t being annoying.

☆ Stratt wasn’t officially his caregiver, but she definitely aware what was going on—Grace swears she has some kind of psychic abilities with how she can see through him. The first time he’s small around her, it’s when he has to get a peanut-butter shot before first contact. She didn’t bat an eye and was uncharacteristically soft with him as he shook from the of the needle. As time goes on, Stratt makes sure he gets enough to eat and when she hands everyone their coffees, Grace has a theory that only his is a hot chocolate at kid temp. She’s subtle about it to not raise any eyebrows, but it’s still enough to make the small part of him feel fuzzy. Maybe in another life, she would’ve held him.

regressor grace crying 11.9 light years away from earth because his stuffed animals aren’t with him. not because he needs them, but because they’re alone with no one to kiss them goodnight. what if they fall off where he last placed them on his bed and no one picks them back up? it’s scary and lonely on the floor :(

🚀How Stratt handles a tantrum

Stratt doesn’t usually let it get to that point if she’s around, she’s scarily good at identifying when he’s at his limit and either removing the stressor or moving him away from the stressor.

But if he does end up having a tantrum, she stays remarkably calm. She doesn’t yell but she doesn’t use a baby voice either, instead she’ll wait out the tantrum making sure he stays hydrated and safe.

After he calms down, she’ll talk him through it and usually he ends up going for a much needed nap.

💫How Rocky/Adrian handles a tantrum

Eridians are very instinct driven, when Grace begins melting down Rocky prioritizes physical comfort first. (Holding him, swaddling him, rumbling/purring) with LOTS of reassurance.

Adrian usually resorts to negotiations with Grace, starting with talking Grace through his emotions. They’ll offer Grace small choices to help him regain his control. They are in general very nurturing towards Grace.

I liked the book better but yeah I can see it- Rocky thinks these are normal Human Things- Grace is probs embarassed about regressing like Rocky is about eating and it IS kinda similar so Grace doesnt contradict him
