more personal hcs of bruce and martinez

- my friend said that they hc martinez as the baby in his family and im all for it. martinez has been babied his whole life and given love

- i feel like martinez is hispanic and italian, it makes sense trust me

- martinez also probably has a ‘unusual’ pet. i can see him owning a rabbit or a hamster, maybe a chinchilla. and he would baby the hell out of it too. he would have such a nice little cage and habitat for them. he would have like the best food for them and the best play area. he would treat them like his own child awee.

- martinez is kind but when he hates people he makes it evident. he will voice it and be so rude to them. love it.

- i think martinez would be an amazing baker. he bakes all sorts of sweets and cook all sorts of dishes. he loves it and making home cooked meals is amazing. he’s learned a lot from his grandma, mon, and older sister. also no one is allowed in the kitchen when he’s baking

- loving the idea of martinez taking care of a bruised and hurt batman. he’s cooking him a meal and yelling at him to sit down and get out of the kitchen. martinez making him a good home-cooked meal awee (the feels)

- and for bruce i feel like when he was younger maybe he had a pet lizard or gecko

- and i feel like he hates olives and loves berries

- and bruce is allergic to cashews (it makes sense)

I also headcanon Martinez is absolutely first gen, as in first gen of immigrants to go to college. I'm about to project onto him as someone who is Hispanic, and Gil Perez-Abraham (his actor) is also apparently first gen.

I like to think he had a supportive family but probably grew up low income based on his uncle being a carpenter/having a tucker? He probably worked really hard to be a cop then, which is more than most cops in Gotham do. Love that lil guy.

Things i noticed on my second watch

[THE BATMAN SPOILERS !!]

- martinez was the cop who ran back down the stairs at the mortgage and told gordon and batman that the people were coming back. this means that it was probably ONLY gordon, martinez, and batman there

- martinez does a double take when seeing bruce !! he glances at him, turns away, then glances back. he looks at bruce and his face slowly forms a smile and he goes “hey, mr wayne!” while raising his arm (awee)

- martinez is the one that runs up and handcuffs falcone. martinez is the one that goes out back and finds important detail on where the riddler is. and martinez is the one to detain and put the riddler in handcuffs. this all leads me to believe that he’s head cop (idk the terms), right under the commissioner. so hopefully we will see more of him (and we should !!).

- martinez is looking at his phone and watching the election announcement and batman passes him into the house. and martinez lets out a little “hey!” and trails after him

- when batman goes back into the house and martinez is like “wtf are you doing here ???” and batman doesnt answer, he just keeps his flashlight in martinez’s face.

- martinez is like “man, he did him in with a carpet tool” and batman is like “???” as he flashes his flashlight in martinez’s face. (poor martinez, i pray for his eyes.) martinez gets kinda bashful and goes, “yk, it’s a- it’s a tucker.” and then he watches batman pull up the carpet. martinez almost has a heart attack from him ripping up the crime scene (trademark). he goes “what the fuck ???” then “holy shit.”

- him and batman figure out the rest of the riddle and i love it SO MUCH. martinez is just there holding the flashlight as high as he can and bruce is decoding.

- also this made me realize how short martinez is. he’s short next to falcone, other policemen, gordon, literally everyone. hes super short next to batman too, like shoulder height.

anyways little things i noticed (and i hope writers use hehehe). WE WANT MORE MARTINEZ !! (and hopefully more moments with bruce)

OK SO

First of all, I’m going to out myself as a Batman fan again shsjdj Batman was My Special Interest of high school sophomore year, and it lasted for around six months, the longest I’ve ever held a special interest with that intensity. I just love the comics, the shows, and the movies a lot honestly

I want to preface by saying that I don’t think Batman is a perfect series or that The Batman is a perfect movie; I believe everything should be critiqued and nothing should be held on a pedestal, and there’s definitely a lot to criticize about Batman as a media franchise undoubtedly. I’m not going to really go into that rn because I’m very tired and I certainly wouldn’t do it justice by writing about it tonight, this is mainly my scattered random thoughts about the movie and how I personally characterize Batman and other Batman characters

Also like I’m no expert or authority on Batman, this is just how I Feel akskdk
