Eighteen months after defeating the Mind Flayer, Starcourt Mall has been rebuilt. Six months after this Hopper and Billy have emerged from the Upside Down, the two having been saved by other Subjects from Hawkins Lab. This has prompted the Byers return, that and Will’s discovery of his own abilities and connection to the Upside Down.
Bodies have since started to appear throughout places in Hawkins, while some believe it may be a serial killer, in actuality, it’s six of the former experiments, self-proclaimed Lab Rats that are the culprits. They thirst for revenge and are now seeking it on former Hawkins Lab workers.
The other six wish to live in peace but are slowly being forced to choose a side and decide if they wish to seek revenge for themselves as well. Lab Rats is becoming a cult-like group, with two leaders being seen as the saviors for the others.The story starts off just after the fourth body has been found and freshly identified as a former scientist, establishing a pattern. Now comes the time for both old and new characters to unite and uncover the new mysteries plaguing Hawkins.
