Buckley went down on one knees and pinched at the ground. He’d seen it a moment before, shimmering when the light hit it. He’d almost lost it when he was blinded by that same light, but he stood and held the needle up. “Bluff.” He called out, smirking. Still, he wasn’t actually going to break a needle just to call someone’s bluff.
LaCienega sighed in relief when she saw the needle in his hand. “Thank you, thank you. I could literally kiss you right now.” She stopped short, eyeing her helper up and down, “I mean, if you were my type.” She corrected herself, carefully placing the needle somewhere it couldn’t fall off again. “And no, it wasn’t a bluff. My mom is a detective, I’m sure she could find some law or statute.” LaCienega knew it was a weak answer, but to be honest, no one had ever really called her bluff. Even if they knew it wasn’t true, they never said anything to her face. “Why is your eye sight so good?” She asked, diverting the attention back to him.
