This was based on two things: the opening sentence was almost my diary verbatim, and the latter part of the story was based on Kougami's "ideal" date in a valentine's day interview… Honestly, it fits him. It sounds like an awkward man's dream.

So excited to announce and soft launch my graphic novel I’ve been working on! The character of Neuro was originally invented for a TTRPG back in 2020 and has since been reincarnated into a separate narrative that I wanted to tell for quite some time. Animation work has kept it on the back burner, but I’ve been slowly chipping away at it! I’ll soon be launching a new Patreon dedicated to the project and will keep you all updated once that’s ready! it's been a while, but this year's lineup of bsd chapters have been quite a disappointment lately. I dont like judging an arc until it's done but there's been a downgrade in quality from what we're used to.
For one the story is getting repetitive, drilling these "plot twists" into your head without them meaning anything. I get that the stakes are ridiculous now and fyodor is oh-so smart and cunning, but it gets to a point. The weight of fyodor's actions don't affect the reader or fill them with genuine dread anymore, especially with how quick each ruse is being dismantled.
I also don't understand why theyre trying to kill him even after they miraculously found out what his ability was? Whatever. Also don't get me started on the whole ueda ordeal.
There's also a lack of coherence between each transition of an event, it's very sloppy and comes off as a toddler show lol. But maybe that's not as bad as characters like verlaine and tsujimura making their very first appearances with no introduction box, while Margaret gets a second one? What's up with that.
Last nitpick has to do with the paneling. The art is fine, and harukawa's paneling skills weren't godly but they were clear and made perfect sense. Ever since asagiri took hold its been a huge mess. Too many closed panels on every page, and a difficulty with following the line of action. I dont know if he's done this to take some weight off harukawa’s shoulders, as she's mentioned wishing for good health recently, but it's doing the story a disservice.
There are other details I won't bother to add bc that's petty lol but it makes me sad to see a story that was following a very clear and interesting direction sort of...get dumbed down I suppose. Lmk what you think so far
Trent Ikithon is a Bad Researcher
No no, I think I am going to talk about it because it pisses me off personally
I’m a research technician and let me tell you the whole “research” scene in tm9a killed me. (Not because I think it was bad writing or done poorly. I think it absolutely served the narrative purpose of characterizing Trent, Essek, Astrid, and Eadwulf as well as giving us more plot information about the Beacon)
But like…Essek was right. You just killed a guy for nothing!! You’re not taking any notes! You have two perfectly capable research assistants right there and no one is writing anything down! Instead, they’re just clean up crew and subject transport. There are no qualitative notes being taken and no quantitative data being measured either! Do you have any demographic information for your subject? Would the relationship between a subject and a divine source influence the outcome of the experiment? Are you controlling for the way that you kill them? Does killing them with a magical weapon vs a non-magical weapon have an effect? Are you taking into account exhaustion from the researcher opening the beacon? Are you just trying to replicate the first experiment or are you going to change something to actually experiment instead of doing the DEFINITION OF INSANITY?! Are you even making sure that any of this is replicable? Where are your control trials? Or are you comparing what’s happening here to previous consecuted deaths? (Which I doubt there’s any actual research on)
“I am going to create an experiment that is so unethical” Yeah, to do so, you would have had to CREATE AN EXPERIMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Anyways, the funniest interpretation of this scene is that Essek was only horrified by Trent’s lack of well structured research protocols.
Trent would have failed by Research Methods course even without taking his human subjects research ethics violations into account.

just a heads up to my fellow writers out there that AO3 is currently fighting off bots commenting on people’s works to tell them that AO3 will delete their fics “due to the works being deprecated”, and the deletion will affect their accounts unless the authors delete the fics themselves first. IT IS A SCAM. AO3 will NOT delete your works. please do NOT fall for these bots!
I’ve been told the reason why these bots are doing this is due to copyright infringement issue where they’re trying to steal your works (possibly to train AI but this is just a guess) ‼️‼️‼️and once you deleted your fics, it will be either very difficult or impossible for you to claim ownership of your own fics when they were already deleted.‼️‼️‼️
