something very interesting that I’ve come across when it comes to the fandom is how different things can be depending on what social media app you’re lurking.

and this isn’t including the unfortunate racism and misogyny that overtakes a majority of Reddit’s Critical Role fandom or the occasional but not as severe shipping “discourse” on here or the much less occasional but MUCH more annoying gameplay/formatting “discourse” on TikTok.

No, even the Critters that are normal and kind and supportive and amazing seem to sort of differ on ONE thing depending on the app you choose to doom scroll that day.

Table Preferences

Now I have NO problem with this and because everybody’s algorithm functions differently (especially on TikTok) so I could be wrong but I’ve noticed that the Tumblr Critters seem to have the Seekers as their favorites (which is so real because me too, I love those dysfunctional nightingales). The Reddit Critters (the nice ones at least) seem to prefer the Soldiers (I’ve seen them talk most about Wick and Thimble which again, makes sense. OG cast members and their characters do a lot for the story overall). And while a majority of TikTok accounts I follow favor the seekers, the content I see on my FYP seems to favor the Schemers (no clue why but I love the schemers quite a lot so I’m not complaining).

Has anyone else noticed this? Or are my algorithms just REALLY weird?

yall what if this just became a CR4 fan blog since that’s all I post about anyways?

Like obviously I have other hobbies and interests…this just so happens to be the biggest one at the moment. And has been since August when it was announced.

I’m handling this hiatus so normally I promise.

On a real note though, if this became a blog of fan ramblings, talking w other fans about ships + theories, and possible little ficlets depending on how much my writer brain wishes to listen to me…would yall be down?

i'm finally getting caught up on cr4 e31 and man. the clear influences of the player's real life culture in their characters (and in the worldbuilding in brennan's case) is amazing and adds such a richness. like thaisha is so clearly influenced by like. black american folk culture Especially with the orcish revolutionaries. idk if liam is irish but he's at least running with a lot of the irish american working class stuff brennan injected into the world in terms of the hal and the culture of the round. and azune's whole bit about not having anyone to speak his native language to and his disconnect to his own identity (diaspora narrative). i Love when real world cultures are reflected in fiction it's so good.

On a real note, what do yall think would’ve happened if Thaisha and Teor never switched teams? Because a LOT of questions keep coming up in my head.

1) Would Occtis still have given his necrotic protection to Thimble? (Probably yes but would he still have done it with no hesitation?)

2) Would we have had a potential opportunity to see Teor’s Paladin Oath via the ritual?

3) With Thaisha not present to guide the Rungjani spirits down the path, what would’ve happened when the bridges became unstable?

4) If Thaisha rolled EXACTLY the same as Teor did on That Investigation Check, what would’ve been her reaction to General Raimond considering they likely had a closer relationship via Thjazi and/or The Falconer’s Rebellion?

5) Would the shades, ghouls and skeletons have targeted Thaisha harder than the others given her approximation to The Old Path?

and, most importantly…

6) WOULD WE STILL HAVE ALL 13 OF OUR MAGPIES?! OR WOULD THAISHA HAVE SIMPLY DIED IN TEOR’S PLACE AND HONESTLY I DON’T THINK I WOULD’VE BEEN ABLE TO HANDLE IT IF SHE DID!

I was thinking possibly Gangrel with the connection to nature and travelling, possibly Salubri (though I have not drawn a third eye), even one of the higher clans to represent the Lloy standing. She could be another kind of Shapeshifter in the wod world but we're doing all Kindred. Either way she.

I really should know better by now than to expect anything else from a fandom that cannot cope with change but…

I saw the new C4 intro and was super hype about the stylistic choice to present this campaign as more like a Shakespearean play, in contrast to the previous campaigns being framed as animated action shows, and was excited to go online and see if other people were also hype, only to run into a wall of people complaining the cast weren’t visible in it and it wasn’t an animated romp with the characters.

I’m starting to get really tired of how stuck fandoms get and how unwilling they are to let artists try anything new. “This isn’t a copy of the thing I previously liked so it’s bad.” Why are you all so boring.

Six months into C4 and this still rings true as all Hells by the way. Thankfully haven’t encountered much from the Critters on here or on AO3 but god some people are so allergic to change not even an Epi-Pen can save them.

GOOD DEAD SHAPERS I MISS HIM SO MUCH

Rewatching Episode 30 (for like the ten millionth time but IN MY DEFENSE MY UPCOMING D&D CAMPAIGN I’M RUNNING TAKES PLACE IN A WORLD INSPIRED BY ARAMAN!) and in addition to marveling at the work Vaelus did I am mourning Hannan like crazy.

Brennan was building ground throughout episodes 29-31 for Hannan to become a tried and true NPC ally to this party. Shortly before the start of Ko’therai he acknowledges his rivaling beliefs with Vaelus but when he notices that she’s starting to question her faith in Sylandri he shifts his focus.

During the Destroying of the Stone, Hannan is VERY confused as to what is happening but he doesn’t try to stop Vaelus. Even if it’s a mechanical thing, he is a VERY powerful Druid. When Ashley was taking her time making a choice, Brennan could have EASILY had Hannan step in to try and choose BUT HE DIDN’T! Not ONLY because Brennan is a good GM but it simply would not be something Hannan would do!

ONE OF THE LAST THINGS HANNAN SAID TO VAELUS WAS “go where your heart tells you” WHICH YES COULD HAVE THE SURFACE MEANING OF “either go with me or don’t it’s your choice” BUT ALSO CONSIDERING HIS EARLIER WORDS OF HOW HE WOULD BE WITH HER ON THE JOURNEY TO FREE HER FAMILY NO MATTER HOW LONG AND HARD?! IT COULD ALSO MEAN THAT HE IS SUPPORTIVE OF WHICHEVER PATH THIS NEW QUESTIONING OF HER FAITH TAKES HER ON!

I don’t know man I just miss him, okay? I MISS HIM A LOT! HE HAD MAYBE A HANDFUL OF EPISODES COUNTING SEEKERS AND CONVERGENCE AND HE HAD THE EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF A PC! AND NOW HE’S JUST GONE!

CRITICAL ROLE 4.30 Here in the Dark

was rewatching episode 28 last night (mainly for Liam’s ending monologue because WOW) and almost forgot about that interesting moment of Wizard Flirting between Occtis and Murray.

Obviously it’s not gonna turn into anything romantic (although I’d love to see what some AO3 authors could do with it) but it’s just so…fascinating. Watching two high intelligence characters nerd out over their favorite thing together.

Let’s hope Occtis and Murray get to be at the same table soon because with Occtis’ summons and Murray’s portents they could really be That Duo.
