Okay Other people have talked about this but I’m gonna get it off my chest because why not. 

So 2016, a not great election that has lead us where? here, the country is being fucked sidewise why a pandemic who’s rise is totally the fault of our shitty President, a President who likes Confederate flags and statues more than black lives. We can go on and on, but “how did it happen?” 

as you can see Hillary Clinton won 3 million more votes than Trump. So what happened? the electoral college happened, Trump won 3 key states by a very small number of votes

Wisconsin: Trump won by 0.77%, write ins for “candidates” like Bernie Sanders or Harambe won 1.30% of the vote

Pennsylvania: Trump won by 0.72% write-ins won 1.06% of the vote

Michigan: Trump won by 0.23% put together write-ins and 3rd parties vote was over 5% of the vote

less than 100,000 votes in 3 states landed us in this hell, and many were people writing in jokes (Harambe) or just objections (Bernie Sanders) which brings us to:

Now it’d be bad given what we just reviewed to have any joke campaigns right now. However I suspect that this isn’t just a joke or West being his usual weirdo self, no I expect it’s a favor to Trump. Oh don’t you know? Trump and Kanye are pals

Over the past few months I have asked a male architect for ideas & drafts for the renovation of the farmhouse, and at every turn I am stunned by his utter disregard for any cleaning-related concerns. For example, he is very into the idea of having in the living-room a big, non-openable window near the ceiling—which, granted, looks pretty, like having a piece of blue sky when you raise your eyes, but immediately I’m like, with a high ceiling, how will I clean this? You can’t open it so you have to clean both sides separately, and you can’t easily reach either side. I’ll need a tool with an absurdly long telescopic handle. He says, a stepladder. I’m like, but I’ll need to carry it by myself to the living-room and the front of the house every time. “So?” So a very tall stepladder is heavy? And it will be hard not to get dirty water dripping down the wall. He reacts like he can’t believe he is being asked to bring the concept of dirty soap water into his grand designs, like these are base, trifling considerations, when to me it’s a crucial factor in the decision to add this decorative window.

Similarly we both agree on leaving most of the wood beams exposed because they’re old and beautiful, but when I ask if we ought to insulate in such a way as to cover every other one, so the remaining ones are farther apart and it’s harder for spiders to use them as ready-made anchors for their webs, he just looks disgusted, like “I am talking about Architecture and you bring up spiderwebs.” At this point I start to entertain the idea that men make horrible architects. You design someone’s house to give them a nice, convenient space to live in, not to make their life more difficult. A man who has never used a sponge in his life should not be allowed to graduate from architect school and that’s the end of it.

Racism and a Cop Literally Cost Me Five-Thousand Dollars

 During my senior year, I scratched a car and because I thought it was just paint rubbing off on their car, I didn’t leave a note. 30 minutes after I got home, a cop showed up at my door, pulled me out of my home and told me I’d done a hit and run. 

I’d never been more confused. 

I thought hit and runs were reserved for things like shooting and driving away or actually hitting someone with your car. I became scared. And I had just changed into my pajamas and had on my mother’s smoke scented jacket. 

 My white mother wasn’t home to protect me from this. To him I was one of those black kids who moved here to ‘ruin the area’. 

If I had been a young white girl, scared and crying, he would have soothed me, assured me my insurance would cover it and take my information. 

 He left me on my front porch, shaking and crying and thinking I was heading to jail.

 In the days leading up to the court date, I was assured that the judge would laugh it off and take it to the insurance. Jail time for a scratch for a high schooler who didn’t even have a speeding ticket? Everyone in my white town laughed because it sounded so ridiculous. They were not laughing after I came back from my first court date with another one. 

The family demanded five thousand dollars to buy a new car because the insurance would ‘junk’ theirs because it was so old. Five thousand dollars to have the paint fixed and to buy a new car. Five thousand dollars coming from a high school student. 

It was five thousand dollars or jail.

 My family coughed up the five thousand dollars to keep me out of jail and let me go to college. If you think they would throw a white high school student in jail or demand five thousand dollars from them you are wrong. That’s five thousand dollars I could have used for college. Five thousand for books. Five thousand for dorm fees. 

 All because a cop thought I was ‘One of the bad ones’. 

If you wanna donate to me, cool. If you don’t, whatever. The things here is it’s another story to show of a cop’s racism affecting black people is not limited to just killing them. If I had gone to jail, if I didn’t have parents willing to help, if I didn’t have the ability to go to my six court dates, that would have been game over for me. It would have ruined my life.
