So ever since I saw that last tweet, I wondered about the context for it. What SPECIFICALLY made Mr. Evans say that tear-gassing a bunch of moms was a tactical error? So I went on twitter and followed him and I found this.

It is a massive tactical error, because there are literally two ways this ends. One is if the government goes full on China and starts mass murdering protestors or mass incarcerating them for long sentences. The other way is that the government backs down. Because anything short of option one wonât scare people away. Anything short of option one just pisses them off more. And then they keep coming back, and bringing more people every time. All the Feds can do at this point is lose, and the more they escalate before they fold, the more dumb and incompetent they look.
that is exactly my point of view. if all people were given universal basic income, we could have tens of thousands of boring, tedious, dangerous, and long term harmful jobs done by robots, while humans are free to explore their passions without fear of poverty and homelessness.
in a good society, automation means a boom in the arts. language, painting, music, dance, writing, philosophy, architecture, etc. these are the sectors that advance tremendously during periods of human health and flourishing
Back in the 1960s, we were told that automation and rising productivity would mean shorter work weeks with higher pay. Instead we have multibillionaires, growing poverty, and crumbling infrastructure. The money is all there, itâs just being hoarded.
The conversation surrounding cultural appropriation has been so severely mutilated by white âalliesâ that the original intention behind that conversation has become almost unrecognizable in most social contexts.
To explain what I mean, the conversation around cultural appropriation was started by black and native people to discuss the frustrations we feel at being punished socially and financially for partaking in our cultural heritage while white people could take, I.e. appropriate, aspects of our culture that we are actively shamed for and be heralded as innovators. It was about the frustrations we feel when the same white people who shamed us would take our culture and wear it as if they were the ones who created it while still actively shaming us for doing the same.
The original push behind naming cultural appropriation and having these conversations were so that we as a society could evaluate why we were punished for our heritage while white People were not. It was supposed to be about seeking solutions. The idea was to create a society where we could celebrate our cultures with impunity. It was never about telling white people that they âwerenât allowedâ to do certain things. We did ask that white People stop doing certain things because they werenât doing them respectfully and were not invited to do them, but the primary reason we asked them to desist was to reclaim the things they had stolen and to reassign them culturally back where they belonged.
White âalliesâ saw these conversations happening and instead of trying to aplify our own voices or even try to learn about the complexities behind why we were saying what we were saying, they instead began screaming over us and creating a narrative that was hardly even the bones of what we originally set out to say. It was like they took the conversation we were trying to have, completely decontextualized it, and stripped it of all itâs nuance in order to gain social currency by seeming progressive.
So the conversation around cultural appropriation went from âThis aspect of our heritage belongs to us and we find it egregious that we are shamed for it. What steps can we take to address the racism thatâs creating this situation as well as rehome the things that have been stolenâ to âyouâre not allowed to do that because if you do that youâre racist, we donât really understand why thatâs racist but youâre not allowed to do that and if you do that youâre a klansman no exceptions. So youâre not allowed because becauseâ
At the end of the day, did I like the fact that sally was wearing dreads? No. But my primary concern was not that sally was wearing dreads but rather that sally could wear dreads and I couldnât. THAT was the intended focus of those conversations. It was about addressing the inequality. It was about us. Now the conversation is just about sally and were completely forgotten.
White People are always asking me what they can do to help. You want to know? Stop talking. Aplify our voices and shut the fuck up because you all have pretty much derailed this conversation and many more like it to the point that we no longer are trying to make steps to understand and dismantle the racism around cultural appropriation and instead are just using it as social shaming tactics.
TL;DR: read my post. Most things worth learning about canât be summarized in the bullet points of a buzfeed article. Donât come into academic circles and complain because everything hasnât been conviently summarized for you. Stop pretending that things arenât accessible to you because you refuse to do the intellectual labor that is learning.

Sorry, I could never be a capitalist, I suffer from âwanting humans to have their basic needs metâ disorder, where I care about people who arenât me.
Someone once asked me if, assuming we got universal healthcare, I would be okay with the rise in âhealthcare tourismâ where people who are sick come to our country to get their medical bills taken care of and life-saving medical treatment cheaper than in their home countries. I was just like, yeah thats fine, Iâd actually prefer it if 0 people died from preventable causes kept behind a paywall for no reason.
Police fuckery update: An SPD officer threatened a local livestreamer who has been covering the Seattle protests for weeks by saying âwe have your addressâ while he was filming them. The streamer, being reasonably upset at this, tried to film the cop who threatened him while saying âthatâs the officer that said âwe have your address, weâre gonna ticket you!â Yeah, âwe have you address.ââ
The cop, identified as one Officer Richardson, got out of his car, approached the streamer, and ARRESTED HIM FOR THREATENING AN OFFICER BY REPEATING THE COPâS OWN WORDS.
Of course, the streamer, Brad Fox, got it all on camera and the video is now on Twitter. You can hear the cop saying âyou said âwe have your addressââ and âIâm gonna take that as a threatâ because he arrests Fox.
He was released two hours later without being charged because this was clearly bullshit and another case of retaliation against a journalist/streamer. Fox had filmed the SPD arresting another journalist, a Black woman, YESTERDAY, after she had been literally standing on the sidewalk and doing nothing. They claimed she was a suspect in a homicide investigation but later released her without charges.
The SPD is angry that theyâre about to be defunded by 50% and retaliating against the very people showing the world that they deserve it and more. Theyâve been attacking protesters on a nearly daily basis. Iâve been spending most of my internet time on Twitter lately to keep up but I reach a lot more people on here. Spread this shit to all ends of the Earth.

Letâs be specific. They are attacking the MEDIA and MEDICS which is a nasty war tactic. They arenât just mad. They are trying systematically destroy the protest by scaring and hurting them AND prevent the media from showing it.
We are protesting but they are acting like itâs war.
^^^ This is correct, they have also been targeting the volunteer medics. Both considered war crimes and are attempts to intimidate and silence protesters.

I saw a news report about this on T.V., she was a straight A Student who had perfect attendance and everything. Everyone loved and respected her for her skills, but when she started this experiment and people thought she was pregnant, they started treating her like garbage. Even her teachers started looking down on her like she was scum of the earth. The only people who knew she was doing this as an experiment were her school principal, her health care teacher, her boyfriend, and her mother. Her own siblings thought she was pregnant! I mean even her friends turned on her, it was horrid. Very very sad, and as soon as she revealed during an assembly that the pregnancy was false, a lot of people were in shock as she brought up all the horrible things they said and did to her because they thought she was pregnant. The reason for the experiment was to see how people would react and treat her if they thought she was pregnant, as opposed as to treating her as the straight A âPerfectâ student they usually did. And it proved that people were horrible scumbags to her as soon as they thought she was.

She came from a family with a history of teen pregnancies but she was the exception to the rule. As her senior project she wanted to see how things would change for her if she âsuccumbedâ to what was expected of her by society and statistics. basically she told her bf for his permission and one or two school officials (I think her sister or mother as well but I read it soo long ago).
The teachers who didnât know immediately began to look down on her, most of her friends abandoned her. He bf's family told him to leave her and she basically became the school outcast. Only the other pregnant girls were friendly to her. At the end of the school year she made a big presentation to the school giving them facts about teen pregnancy and telling them about her experiences as a pregnant teen including things they had said to or about her. Then she finally revealed that she wasnât pregnant. Some people were mad that she had tricked them but overall they understood why she had done it.
Assholes werenât mad that she tricked them, they were mad because she exposed them for what they really were: a pack of shitheads.
These are surprisingly easy to make and amazing-not-amazing how white evangelicals never seem to mention the huge amount of biblical passages about how the white supremacist capitalist police state they worship is so thoroughly anti-christian
