nothing will ever ruin vsmp for me.

vsmp is the reason i started writing and drawing again, it’s the reason my art is at the level it is at today. vsmp is the reason i have bonded with so many people, formed friendships, and gained so many lovely mutuals.

vsmp is the reason that i am a staple in the mcyt art community, that my art is recognized and i, as a person, continue to feel loved and valued on this corner of the internet.

vsmp is the reason i met my best friend, of which i am meeting up with irl for the first time today! (im actually shaking im so excited)

and although this may be a rough patch in the community, this is not a reason to allow this to destroy everything you felt, everything that vsmp meant to you. the fans and supporters of this show made it to be what it is today, and i am forever grateful for that.

Hey yall, I don't normally post stuff, but I realized even though it was said in streams, and I didn't see anyone talking about it on tumblr, and I personally believe that it is our role as an audience to help spread this to all the other members and fix our way of handling it. 

Recently Graecie has run into an issue with her character in that the community has been boiling her character down into, as both Graecie and Leg’s put it, ship fuel. Meaning specifically people have been so focused on the ships, that they don’t pay attention to or recognize the depth and effort put into these characters. Graecie’s character, Zam’s character ,and even Leg’s characters all are incredibly detailed and intricate. The choices and perspective they all see are incredible and built to tell good stories. But when we boil the characters down, or view them as dolls or objects, rather than characters with complex feelings, (Even if that is to a degree what they are) what ends up happening is we miss out on so much story, and prevent the creators from being able to tell that story to us.  To build on this, Legs decided to reveal in advance the direction his storyline with Graecie is headed, so we know what to expect and can help encourage that story along. And  hopefully help us from accidentally making things worse for the other server creators. “Flight Leg’s story is one of healthy rejection” -Legundo. He went into a lot more detail of what this entails, and I highly, highly suggest you all take a look at his stream to get a better explanation of what that means.

Now with all that said, Both Leg’s and Graecie expressed that they are not against shipping. Both of them are fine with it, it’s just the fact that we have been only viewing the characters through the lens of shipping and nothing else that is the issue. To quote them directly, Graecie said, “Shipping is totally fine, but please remember that my character is more than just her interactions with people.”  and Leg’s response was similar saying, “I’m still fine with shipping characters, but please do so in a way that is respectful to the creators themselves. and the creators that are behind them, and the work that has gone into them”. I feel like at the end of the day this issue is one that can be fixed basically immediately. but to do that we have to talk about it and decide to act on it. so I wanted to make sure that we as an audience do our part to spread the word, and adjust things with ourselves. The streams I referenced are Graecie’s stream ‘The moon will sing' starting 00:06:31, and Legundo’s stream ‘Answers and Questions’ starting 00:10:30. Please watch the streams yourself they said it so much better than I can, and it’s always good to get your own perspective incase I said anything incorrectly.

To be quite honest with you all I do think that aro/ace-spectrum fans in fandoms where people are desperately inventing crossover ships and humanizing non-human characters in order to have a conventionally attractive guy to ship the main character with, instead of possibly having to enjoy a story with no romance in it, have the right to refer to everyone else as cowards.
