dont get me wrong this is #mood but just try eating a piece of bread with salt. please, seriously. ok? at least a tiny bit. salt helps with nausea, bread calms the stomach acid. if you really can’t face eating anything, just lick some salt like a damn elk, then wait and see if you can manage the bread. make some broth if you’re into that kind of thing. no spices, yes salt. if you’re feeling too weak and shaky to do much, just have a cup of tea with sugar (energy) and lemon (again, good against nausea). nibble on the lemon first, it will feel good, but don’t overdo - citric acid on an empty stomach is a majorly bad idea. take care of yourself, you’re the only you we’ve got
[Image: an 18th century (?) painting of a man and woman sparring with épées while a crowd looks on. One opponent is labeled “not eating because I feel nauseous” and the other is labeled “feeling nauseous because I’m not eating.”]
Oh, here are some tips we’ve never run into before! Folks, any other recommendations for this #mood?
New goddess idea: She’s an earth goddess of the new age who’s domain is spinning and weaving, but specifically spinning and weaving gigantic structural steel cables for construction and other industrial purposes. Her skin is steel grey and hard to the touch and her hair is like long dredlocks of woven steel. She laughs at shitty architecture deigns that will fall apart if actually built and protects well-made bridges and buildings she likes. She might warn you of unforseen danger if you always wear your proper PPE.
Okay now what do I name her
O’sha.
Obviously
THAT’S PERFECT
I AM ALWAYS HERE FOR QUALITY WORKPLACE SAFETY REGULATION PUNS
That’s my goddess. 👍🏻
May O’sha bless you with earplugs that are comfortable and respirators that fit perfectly.
And good steel. Always good steel.
May your steel deliveries be always on time and your rebar strong
I’m just gonna…. put this here…..
hope you don’t mind
BEAUTIFUL
She who is so gentle and kind,
Who sees our worth when our own eyes are clouded,
who loves fiercely and unconditionally.
She who loves.
She who cares.
We lift ourselves up for Her,
pick ourselves up and fight.
She loves us until, and after
we learn to love ourselves.

Me: I just sometimes get so stressed that I just want to screech
My Therapist: Then do it.
Me: I’m sorry?
My Therapist: Primal screeching is one way of completing your stress cycle, do it. Be mindful of where you are, I usually do it in my car, but yeah. Go for it.
Me: Ah- Oh.
My Therapist: Holding that kind of thing in is what’s locking you into that stress state. Screeching, running, dancing, that tells your body they the danger has passed and you’ll relax. Since you have a lifetime of that shit locked away, it’ll take a sec but yeah. Screech if you want to.
YO this is legit
My dad has always had me do this, especially when I was little and kept the baby up. We would go into the back yard, point to the river (to keep the ship captains up at night) and scream. I was also told to jump up and down to “get all the scream out”
I did this in college too. There’s nothing more cathartic than climbing the fence of the fishing pier, running to the end of it and screaming into the wind. It’s powerful, it’s therapeutic, it’s feral and wonderful.
I did this with kids too, when they have too much energy. When I worked at a children’s camp and the kids had too much energy when the rain canceled pool time I took them out in the rain, made them jump up and down and scream, and then 15 some nine-year-olds and I would rance across the field screaming in the rain
Go scream, just face towards the river when you do it
Adventurer’s Tip #345: Sometimes you just gotta scream. Just face towards the river when you do.
World Mental Health Awareness Day is today (October 10th) and I really wanted to share a spread on the topic. We all have mental health! Just like physical health it’s something we all have t…

“i can’t do simple hygiene bc im depressed” that’s easy babe! just do simple hygiene
Y’all always have to wallow in your misery instead of considering maybe, just maybe, the encouragement people like this give is just telling people to do one, easy thing instead of worrying about a whole routine. Can’t make yourself shower? That’s fine, just brush your teeth. Don’t have the energy to do your hair? Okay, just brush your teeth.
Making 1 small change that can start improving your mood leads to other small changes. When I couldn’t make myself shower I would make sure I changed underwear every day. And then I started using baby wipes to keep myself fresh. And then I worked my way back to trying to take showers every day. My record might not be perfect but I’m getting better.
It’s really unhealthy to keep the mindset that anyone who isn’t miserable and suffering under their mental illness or emotional problems doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe they’ve just grown to learn how to love and care for themselves in spite of what they’re going through.
I don’t know what any of you people think professional help looks like, but when you walk in and say “i’m too depressed to do anything” they don’t just nod and say “well you’re broken forever i guess”. they don’t say “here take this pill and it’ll fix everything”. they work with you one step at a time and explain to you that you CAN in fact do simple things even though you’re depressed. it isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible, it just happens in small steps, but it isn’t getting any easier when you react to every instance of someone trying to help by refusing to listen.
a fools guide to not wanting to die anymore
by me, a fool who doesnt wanna die anymore
never make a suicide joke again. yes this includes “i wanna die” as a figure of speech. swear off of it. actually make an effort to change how you think about things.
find something to compliment someone for at least 4 times a day. notice the little things about the world that make you happy, and use that to make other people happy.
talk to people. initiate conversation as often as you possibly can. keep your mind busy and you wont have to worry anymore
picture the bad intrusive thoughts in youe head as an edgy 13 year old and tell them to go be emo somewhere else
if someone makes you feel bad most of the time, stop talking to them. making yourself hang out with people who drain you is self harm. stop it.

That’s some pretty good advice. I don’t know what’s left of my humor after ‘guess I’ll just die’ jokes but it’s worth a shot.
Personally i went from “guess I’ll die” jokes to “IF I HAVE TO BE HERE FOR 5 MORE MINUTES I PROMISE YOU I WILL BUY JUST, AN ARRAY OF CLOTHES.” and other wild hyperbolic stuff. Just replace the death part with something ridiculous and off topic. Its very entertaining
This also works with calling myself things like stupid, worthless, trash, etc. Even if you do this jokingly to yourself, your brain still believes it, and keeps up the cycle. Seriously, I found that when I stopped saying these things about myself, even jokingly, it made a massive difference.
Here’s a tip I picked up from a friend that’s helped me a lot — replace self deprecating jokes with ironically self aggrandizing jokes
Like every time I trip and fall, instead of saying “l’m just a disaster human” I say “I’m the epitome of grace and beauty”
Or like, when I draw a picture I’m not 100% happy with, instead of saying “my art is trash” I say something like “you know I think it’s time we replaced the Mona Lisa”
When you do that you get to make a joke, but you’re ALSO getting practice building yourself up, y’know?
And eventually it becomes a reflex and you get so used to it that you can say nice stuff about yourself even when you AREN’T joking
This is so important

After a recent breakdown, I've started taking steps to get help with my mental illnesses. Do you have a prayer for starting on a better path, for renewal and taking good steps forward?
I hope this helps:
Lady Chronica, hear my prayer, for the road has been roughbut I am ready to take a different path.Help me to stand tall and remain strong in the face of my struggles.Remind me, sweet Goddess, to breathe,to rest, to move, to fight this battle. With your guidance, I know that I can win.
I made a portable altar for low spoons days when I’m stuck in bed ☾
Friendly reminder that whatever magic you do is valid, no matter how easy or hard it seems to other people. Your practice is your own and you should feel free to do whatever is within your limitations.
Remember that what works for you and what works for others may never be the same, and you shouldn’t push yourself to fit in with other people’s ideas of what constitutes “real magic”.
Your magic is real. Your magic is powerful. Your magic is important.
And anyone who tells you otherwise is not worth your time and energy.
I find myself using “I am unable” or “I am no longer able”, instead of the casual “I can’t”, a lot lately. It’s not an attempt to sound more fancy or formal or anything, it’s just; “I can’t” is constantly met with “Yes you can, you just have to try harder”, from people who don’t know fucking shit about how hard you are trying. Using “I am unable” instead feels like it’s a lot better at conveying how this is an objective fact, the reality of which is absolutely undisputable. People may think it appropriate at this time to ask “why?”, “how come?” (it’s not), but they are much less likely to refute my statement.
A great way to use those awful social conventions to set a firm boundary, and another tool in your toolkit of Dealing With Ableists.
