I lowkey think s2 wonāt be as well received because of the way Ilya and Shane get outed. S1 was lauded for being a deviation from queer pain, with the lack of a consequential outing being specifically highlighted. Give the events in TLG, Iām so curious to see how Tierney navigates this.
Well this all depends on whether or not Tierney actually frames their outing as a painful traumatizing event rather than a weight being lifted off their shoulders that finally allows them to be free, doesn't it? Because that's how the book frames it.
And tbh, not enough people recognize that the ending of season 1 is framing an indefinite plan to remain closeted as something that provides hope and joy. They appreciate the hope and joy - but they aren't recognizing the source of that hope and joy. I don't have a lot of faith they'll recognize that tlg spits in the face of this.
