i beg of you let me go
"Emily."
"The rumors, or the real thing? Because I’m pretty partial to the latter, myself."
"Take your pick." Now she's just being irksome, for the sake of being so. "But I was rather hoping you'd say the latter."
Another woman’s opinion would be fantastic. I don’t really know much about weddings at all, I’ve just been skimming magazines.
I can't promise to know much about twenty first century weddings, and my own -
[ She lets the sentence trail. ]
But I could lend an ear, and an eye.
I’m taking it easy on my days off. Endless amount of telly, movies, and Connor. Well—unless we do wedding planning, that’s frustrating.
Do ...
Do you need help?
"Don’t worry—they mean well."
"I know."
"Matt -
I wouldn't mind it."
I just hope it doesn't turn into gossip.
Depends. In some aspects, yes, in others, no.
I’m glad too. Wouldn’t be the same without him, I don’t think and now everyone can take it a bit easier. The anomalies are still appearing, but far less frequent…it’s nice to have days off rather than working all week.
I'll take my chances.
I don't know about taking it easy, but I think days off sounds nice. It would be nice to take a break, once in awhile.
Me neither. Niceness won’t get you far,
Sorry. We can pretend I never said a thing and I’ll just silently think it, okay?
It will.
I just find it boring.
We don't need to pretend. It's alright. I'm still trying to find my footing, in this world. He's not leaving, and neither am I. For awhile I thought his saving the world would mean he'd be gone.
I'm glad it hasn't come to that.
Wouldn’t say so, but you’re not always a very nice woman either.
I actually thought it would be a nice gesture, to say that I believed in you and Matt.
I never intended to be.
It is.
It's just ... strange.
How come she can even look pretty from behind? That’s just not fair.
Depends what you’re about to do for me, yeah?
You're not always a very nice woman, are you?
What’d I do?
Does making predictions about Matt and I sound familiar?
Abigail.
Taylor glances up, a brief smile curving her lips upward, simply at the prospect of being artistically talented. For a second, she looks back down to her own scruffy writing.
”Nope. Can’t draw to save my life. Even my stick-men go all wonky.” She taps the paper with her pen, “Notes. Revision, I s’pose. I mean, I could try drawin’ it, but it’d probably make you cringe.”
”———What ‘bout you? Any good?”
"What are the notes on?" The conversation feels like enough of an invite for sitting down and so she does, folding her hands over her knees for a moment. "I doubt I would cringe."
Emily smiles at the comment about drawing. "I've been told as much, before."
And the only sound to be heard, is a quiet but insistent scribbling from where Taylor has seated herself in the corner. The girl writes more notes now than she ever did in school. But, dinosaurs are a lot more interesting than Algebra, she supposes. Though, there’s less threat in a maths class.
Emily doesn't mean to stare.
She shouldn't be staring, if that makes any difference at all. It's just that she's curious, and walking by leads to stopping and stopping has lead to curious onlooking and curious onlooking -
Well.
"I'm sorry," She says. "I thought you might be drawing."
