God sometimes I'm writing smut and I'll like, delete a sentence because I'm like, no, I can't write that. It's too indulgent. And then it's like. Girl, what the fuck are you even going to the candy store for if you're just going to buy raisins. Get real.
"what the fuck are you even going to the candy store for if you're just going to buy raisins" is honestly the thing I needed to hear today
showing off pits
Sometimes when I go hundreds pages deep into people’s Tumblr archives, I find really funny posts and I weigh the pros and cons of liking/reblogging them.
Pros: I’ll have access to them later because they’re fucking hilarious
Cons: They might think I’m creepy. Despite the fact that it’s public and on the Internet, it is not socially acceptable to let anyone know the extent that you creeped their archives.
I hereby extend blanket permission for anyone to creep on my archive, and to like and reblog posts from it if they want to. It’s really quite flattering.
“it is not socially acceptable”
Wrong. It is not only acceptable but expected here. Adhere to whatever “etiquette” you will on other sites. Share and be shared here.
Yeah, this isn’t a Tumblr thing. Everyone here loves it when they wake up to 97 notifications and they’re all likes and reblogs from the same person of shit you posted five years ago.
I love it when someone is obviously going through a specific tag of mine.
User that exhibits the actively curious, reblog-spamming, tag-digging behavior is an endangered species that must be preserved at all costs. No seriously I view this kinda stuff as a big, massive, yuuuuuge compliment. Please don’t let this culture die.
Yes, please, come on in here and dig in the depths!
We're not using tumblr to be normal.
We're here to get weird and show off the insides of our unhinged brains.
When you find someone who matches your freak, reblogging isn't cringe. Don't be a creep in dms obvs but also,
DON'T 👏 BE 👏 SHY 👏
Tumblr carries the torch of the old internet, where we made friends instead of buying things. How are you gonna make friends if you don't like that post and smash reblog and leave a comment?
i had only ONE thought when i saw this picture and i won't elaborate further

The Commitments (1991), directed by Alan Parker, is a cult classic about a ragtag Dublin soul band, but behind its infectious music and humor lies an equally fascinating production story.
The film was based on Roddy Doyle’s novel, yet Parker wanted it to feel authentic rather than polished. Instead of hiring seasoned Hollywood stars, he auditioned over 3,000 unknowns from Ireland. Many of the cast had never acted before, but most were talented musicians. This gamble gave the film its raw, unpolished energy, perfectly capturing the scrappy spirit of a working-class band trying to find their sound.
Interestingly, Parker insisted that all the music be performed live on set. Unlike most musicals, where tracks are pre-recorded and lip-synced, the cast actually played and sang during filming. This decision created plenty of chaos—missed notes, cracked voices, and technical hiccups—but also gave the performances a spontaneity that made them electric. Andrew Strong, who was only 16 when cast as lead singer Deco Cuffe, stunned Parker during auditions with his gravelly, soulful voice, instantly setting the tone for the band.
A lesser-known fact is how close fiction and reality blurred after filming. Following the movie’s success, the actors formed a real touring version of The Commitments, performing around the world to sold-out crowds. What began as a story about underdogs chasing a dream turned into a genuine musical phenomenon. Decades later, The Commitments remains not only a beloved film but also a celebration of how music, even in the most unexpected places, can bring people together in unforgettable ways.
mentally i’m leonard cohen doing whatever the hell
Just had a weird procedure where the dentist lasered off some of the tissue between my mouth and tongue and I'm resisting the urge to walk around like this guy:
Happy 15th Birthday to Suck It And See ✨
So many amazing lyrics in this (often overlooked) album. What’s your favourite? This is mine:
🤍 🤍🤍
X
If you're gonna try and walk on water
Make sure you wear your comfortable shoes 🥹
I poured my aching heart into a pop song
I couldn’t get the hang of poetry
That’s not a skirt girl that’s a sawn off shotgun
And I can only hope you’ve got it aimed at me 💘
Do you look into the mirror to remind yourself you’re there?
Or has somebody’s goodnight kisses got that covered?
Or
I etched the face of a stopwatch on the back of a raindrop
And did a swap for the sand in an hourglass
I tried to pack away your laugh
like a key under the mat
but it never seems to be there when I want it
Or
When I’m not being honest I’ll pretend you were just some lover
Don’t take it so personally
You’re not the only one
That time has got it in for, honey
That’s where you’re wrong
Film Survey tag game
I was tagged by @daydreamnik, hello👋 and thank you, this was fun! 🫶
last film you watched in the cinema?
Mr. Fauxhawk took me to see Casablanca as a surprise earlier this year. I hadn’t seen it in forever, and it was honestly brilliant to catch a classic on a big screen.
film that always makes you cry?
The 4-minute encapsulation of an entire marriage at the beginning of Up slays me.
As does the entire film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
film you know every single word to?
Probably The Big Lebowski. The Cohen Brothers had a real thing going for a while. Fun fact, I went to the Second Annual Lebowskifest in Louisville, Kentucky when I was in college, and I met the man who inspired the real dude.
favourite 2000s teen movie?
Superbad
most embarrassing "guilty pleasure" film?
I have a serious love of Patrick Swayze movies like Road House or Point Break. This is a stupid action film about a bouncer saving a town in Missouri from the clutches of evil mall owner Ben Gazzara. And I have never laughed so hard as when I watched Road House with Rifftrax. Behold: the famous throat-ripping scene.
film that changed your life?
I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was probably 8 or 9 (that shouldn't have happened but it did!), and I remember seeing Susan Sarandon in her underwear and thinking woah.
But I didn’t realize I was bi until I was in my 30s because I grew up in a culture filled with the worst sort of homophobic religious oppression. And because I am a dumbass.
favourite movie snack?
Homemade popcorn with butter and salt. Or french onion dip made 1960s-style with the instant soup mix powder and sour cream with ruffle cut potato chips.
your go-to movie quote?
Cute? Baby ducks are cute. I hate cute! I want to be exotic, and mysterious!
Annie Savoy, a true role model ❤️
the most overrated film ever?
Birdman, imho, it's a pretentious piece of self-congratulation that goes on forever. I hate this film, and spent a week being mad at Iñárritu after I saw it.
favourite director?
Paul Thomas Anderson, who gave us Boogie Nights, There Will be Blood, Phantom Thread, and One Battle After Another.
I have real soft spots for Licorice Pizza and Inherent Vice too. I'm always excited when he has a new film out.
first movie you remember seeing in theatres?
The Muppet Christmas Carol, which is the best adaptation of the book, and the best Christmas movie!
horror, comedy, or romance?
Comedy, then horror, then romance.
the ultimate "top 10" favourite movies of all time?
An impossible question, but here are ten faves in chronological order: Top Hat, All About Eve, Sabrina, Moonstruck, Jackie Brown, Out of Sight, Rushmore, Hot Fuzz, Mad Max: Fury Road, Phantom Thread
BONUS QUESTION I AM MAKING UP FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS:
If you could recommend one film to your mutuals, what would it be?
for me, it's Magic Mike XXL because it's basically Top Hat 80 years in the future, but they're strippers male entertainers.
Tagging: @endingupinkingscross, @applysome, @anitabrassi, @syn-back-in-black, @be-right-here, and anyone who sees this and wants to blab about film.
And DM me if you want to be letterboxd friends! 🤍
The thing is.
It's the way Miles Looks at Alex and the way Alex Smiles at Miles.
That's their thing and it sickens me.
