i don’t really remember what made me start thinking about Giacomo/Penny, i think it was literally just that Giacomo is “the leader” among the Team Star kids but Cassiopeia is the “Big Boss,” so basically the Rika/Geeta justification (before they actually got canon interactions). one thing i really like imagining for them is Penny being super flustered and annoyed over the fact that her battle music (remember, Giacomo canonly composes their battle music) is ridiculously epic and cool when she doesn’t even really like battling

because i like thinking too much about everything Arven’s “and you call yourself an adult?!” line always really stuck out to me. i don’t think he has a lot of respect for the adults around him, because, literally, why would he lol. the most important adult in his life abandoned him, and no other adults stepped in to help him. at the very least, i don’t think he has the ability to trust them (when the story starts at least), and though i believe him when he says he went to Pokemon centers and tried all the usual methods to help Mabosstiff, i doubt he went to any of the teachers at the Academy. i can’t fault him for that, though

which is why it’s really heartwarming to see his conversations with Salvatore and especially Saguaro (since he went to him for picnic related help that one time) in the League Room with both men saying how happy they are to see that he has friends and concrete goals now. for similar reasons that’s also a part of why i enjoyed his event with N so much (even though N is only like early 20s lol)

i’m really intrigued by this detail because it only comes up a couple of times in the base game but it’s apparently important enough to mention in other adaptations. it also leads to one my favorite bits of subtle storytelling in a Pokemon game: Nemona has a lot of difficulty running around and being active for extended periods of time, but her signature Pokemon can only evolve after running around with its trainer
