mona definitely is very sensible and polite when consuming churus until joker gets his hands on the tuna flavor— then that cat is biting right through the foil with the same crazy eyes that obsess over treasure and giving in to his baser instincts. it gets all over his fur.

The Speaker of God is giving me "secret villain/ant-villain" vibes, and it doesn't help she looks a bit like Stella (for obvious ancestor/subspecies reasons) AND an old Zoophobia angel character of Viv's that I could see her trying to add into the series through the Speaker.

HOWEVER I can see her being actually good BUT because of this among other things like maybe a natural law left by God or her moral code, I think she can only just guide and enlighten people and CANNOT actually interfere in people's choices. This means why later in the season she tries to talk Sera and Lute out of going to war with Hell, when they do she can only watch from the sides and hope for the best.

Maybe at best she gives Charlie some cryptic advice to turn the tide of things.

in Season 4 of The Good Place, where the folks up in the Good Place are committed to perfect inaction rather than imperfect action. I could totally see The Speaker unable to influence the decisions of folks. Because if she could, what's stopping her from preventing the war? Why only now is she getting involved? Why allow Sera to hide everything? I think she'll be an interesting way for the show to explore things like Calvinism and various beliefs about free will.

I was switching laundry when this scene happened and I finally came back to it and it's SO good!! Sera's Confession feels like classic musical theater. The belief that Sera can make change in a show all about redemption? CHEF'S KISS! Begging for someone to guide you and being told that you're the only one who can find a path forward? GOD it's so good! This song is instantly going on my musical playlist.
