No, honestly, the Nightlord creatures are actually very fun bunch?
Gladius is a triple wolf, one of which we've already seen in the statue found in Farum Azula! But whereas in that culture they somehow were revered (their depiction surrounding the person doesn't seem like a dreadful one, not to mention this statue is in the former Elden Ring's location), in the Erdtree's culture a creature like this is shunned! Kind of the reoccuring theme in Elden Ring how formerly divine becomes condemned when epochs change
Adel was a dragon, most likely a drake from the looks of it, but he strangely can use gravity magic! A meteorite once struck Farum Azula, and one of the resulting shards was remade into a sword that still holds its gravitational powers. He must have been in Farum Azula, before Bayle made drakes enemies of the Ancient Dragons, and on that meteorite's way! Yet he survived the damage and adapted turning the change into his power, because this is what drakes do!
Gnoster is actually kind of clever one despite the simplicity tbh. Symbiosis of the insects from the environment that became a desert, that kept moving in the search of a rain but found a wrong kind of rain x)
Libra seems to have a fixation on the idea of the One Great, using both Greater Will's gold and Frenzied Flame. Despair is not the only aspect of Frenzied Flame; another is unification of everything! Balancing between two powers that once were a whole, he seems to favour Frenzied Flame more for this reason. He believes in unification, so of course, the force of nature that is going to engulf everything seemed "fair" to him! But he also might have been one of the Beastmen! Or, rather, an evolutionary variant? The staff depicting the five fingers that he has might allude to both 'two fingers + three fingers' or to Cinquedea!
Maris seems to be of a similar nature to the Elden Beast, sharing very similar proportions and even floating very similarly. + Worth nothing that residence of the Elden Beast is a body of a water. It is definitely an Eldrich creature, but, perhaps, never "employeed" by the Greater Will! It was never made into a shooting star. Marine aspect might come from it too; as we remember from the questline of Aurelia and Aureliette, they believed they wound find the stars, but a soul that failed to die "properly" will take a shape of a jellyfish. Maris is jellyfish-like, existing outside of Greater Will's range of existence, but the Night is antagonistic force to it, so of course it was the only thing it could perceive and give attention to!
Fulghor was one of the very early civilisations, worshipping the Old Gods (mentioned in Meteoric Ore Sword, possibly some were killed by GEQ). Centaurs are also as ancient as the first Crucible, if Devonia is of any indication! However, his comrades betrayed him and severed his arm, as they decided to forsaken the Old Gods during the cultural shift. I guess he was unwilling to give up on the pre-Erdtree era, so it is only fair that he joined the antagonistic force.
Caligo is a prehistoric Ancient Dragon (has four wings), or maybe she existed even before the rest of Ancient Dragons? She existed before history and civilisations, so more akin to Metyr's contemporary, and not to mention that she has exactly 0% of the Gold that grants life and is found within every other Ancient Dragon! She has been watching civilisations rise and fall, but the Golden Order has been stagnant and overstayed its welcome and all is trying to heed back to mending it (even if with alterations), so it is natural that she would side with the Night that might finally make the wheel of history truly turn again.
Like... I don't know, I just like how there are Creatures, and they are all so interesting
