Exhibition view ‘Lines which join, divide, meander and delineate’.
With works by Cologne based artists Kim Collmer and Lars Kreyssig.
(September 2017)
For the exhibition “lines which join, divide, meander and delineate” Cologne based artists Kim Collmer and Lars Kreyßig will present a visual conversation derived from some of their latest work in their first exhibition together. Both working with and on paper, the artists appear to take an opposite approach to a shared interest in creating form through repetition. Many of Kreyßig's drawings depict rigid patterns and surfaces in a meticulous and extensive process, resulting in exacting and precise formal studies. In contrast Collmer’s work seems to fall apart, the marks she makes suggest the fragility of the forms they create, resulting in an openness in the work. Both artists have also employed video and photography, oddly evident in the work as it slyly comments upon digital culture without actually using it. Music artist Tom Ashforth joins them at the opening with an extraordinary performance.
