âLetâs have a talk, shall we?â you mentioned exhaustedly, opening the front door to your apartment and inviting Brian in.
He seemed out of his depth, and for a moment, the old you wished to reach out and reassure Brian. However, you maintained your distance, offering him a seat at your small dining table whilst you took the one adjacent.
âI mean what I said,â Brian stated, turning to face you.
âIâm sure you did.â
âI donât know when it happened butââ
âIâm not in love with you, though,â you announced calmly, Brianâs eyebrows furrowing together.
A/N: Officially, this was going to be this series' last part, but I'm not going to lie, I'm too attached to this couple to stop just now...so surprise! There'll be at least one, maybe two bonus parts, which won't be adding too much to the story line but will just be self-indulgent tbh! As always, please tell me what you thought about this one! x

It was crazy how every little thing could remind you of a person, even when all you wanted was to forget about them. Since that night you hadnât dared to say H/Nâs name out loud. As if he was some ancient curse and he would haunt you forever if you spoke the letters of his name. That stupid, horrible night. You had gone to Korainâs party just to see H/N, and then messed it all up. All you had wanted was to spend time with him. Then he had asked you to kiss him in front of the entire crowd, and you couldnât have been happier. Only seconds later, when he had called you his âfriendâ in front of a girl he was very obviously interested in, your jealousy had struck. In hindsight, you felt a little guilty for shouting at him. Because seeing him sad had hurt you. But why did he have to be such a douche? You both deserved to be in agony for the way you had treated and spoken to each other, you supposed.
Ending things with him was the hardest thing you had ever done. The two of you had never even been together. Why had sending him off felt like breaking up from a long-term relationship, then? You didnât know what was worse. Not seeing him again or being reduced to one of his occasional hook-ups. Always one of them, never the one.
That night, you had run home like there had been danger after you. Finally, you had confessed everything to Chohee. The nature of your agreement, the rules you had made, and how miserably you had failed at sticking to them. Naturally, she had been excited to hear you were in love. The only reasons she hadnât told you âI knew itâ were probably your broken sobs and your desperation while you had explained the argument youâd had with H/N. Even now, Chohee was of the opinion that you shouldâve gone and apologized and confessed your feelings. Of course, she would say a such thing. Chohee, who was honest and straightforward like no one you had ever met. But you were different.
Your plan involved a good portion of pretending everything was okay, a pinch of ignoring texts and way too many unhealthy snacks at an unholy hour of the day. Eventually, Chohee had given up her attempts at making you talk it out with H/N and accepted that you had other coping mechanisms. You loved her for sharing a box of ice cream at 3 am with you, and for accompanying you while watching horrible reality tv for hours on end. She cooked you food when she realized you couldnât possibly live on ramen noodles for days, picked up books for you at the library so you didnât have to leave your room and organized a date with a new guy for you.
To be fair, the latter wasnât something you were looking forward to. You knew she was only trying to change your mind set. To realize that there were 4 billion more men out there to date. The problem was, they werenât H/N. And no matter how you put it, the result was always the same: You werenât over him.
And your heartbreak wasnât even beginning to describe why your blind date was the worst date you had ever been on. Not even the food from your favorite restaurant you were at could console you. To your dismay, the guy you were sitting across from was not only boring, he also had the absolute nerve to say this:
âI donât mean to make things awkward, but I heard youâve had your fair share of men on our campus. I know some girls donât like telling me about these things because they feel like the past is the past and it doesnât matter in a future relationship. I do think itâs appropriate to discuss, at least shortly. To know what weâre both getting into. Iâll tell you about my past, too, I promise.â
For someone named Ken, he was really making sure no one could ever suspect he was a perfect man. Your thread of patience ripped just like that. Especially when he continued talking.
âWerenât you andâŠwhat was his name again? H/N? Werenât you two having a thing? You should be careful. If you sleep with too many guys, youâll end up only getting the players in the end. The good guys wonât take you seriously once youâve hit a certain body count. Iâm sure you havenât hit it yet, but Iâm just trying to protect you. Youâre a really nice girl. Itâd be a shame if men lost their respect for you,â he said. After you had to consciously close your open-hanging mouth, your words came back to you faster than he had probably anticipated. You were bone-weary, and although you knew it wasnât fair to generalize, wanted to challenge every man on this planet just for existing. Even before this date, you had been a miserable wreck. Somehow, this guy had managed to make things even worse.
âA nice girl? Iâm not nice. Actually, Iâm a fucking bitch,â you said. âYou want me to prove it?â
You took one more large sip of your milkshake. It was delicious after all. Then, you stood up, held it above Ken and poured the contents over his head. He had the look of someone who had just been puked on by a stranger, and it was fitting, because his words had made you sick.
âYou should be careful. If you keep spewing that sort of sexist bullshit, women might lose their respect for you,â you whispered into his ear. âLike me, just now.â
You slammed your hand down on the table, leaving behind the money to pay for your food. Your anger blocked out the stares people were giving you. In fact, you hoped they would follow your example in future encounters with assholes.
âGoodbye,â you said to the waiter who you passed on your way to the exit. âThe food was amazing. The company not so much.â
You stumbled out onto the sidewalk, and to your terror had to realize that Ken had picked you up and driven you to the restaurant. There was no way you would get into his car after the scene which had passed. Besides, he was too much of a coward to go after you anyway. You had no more money for a cab. Shouldâve made Ken pay for the food, you cursed under your breath. Dark clouds were rolling in above you, so you took shelter underneath the eaves as you scrolled through your phone. Chohee was visiting her parents three hours away, so she was no option. Desperate, you ran through your contacts, trying to reach someone who could come and drive you home. After you had called five people without success, and were running out of options, your eyes went over H/Nâs name in your contact list. Another surge of sadness and frustration went through you. You were tired of this dating game. Being single was fun, and you were fine with not trying your luck anymore.
You were fully aware that H/N worked just around the corner, at the arcade. An acid flood of memories washed over you. Neon lights, laughter, moans, and the nickname he loved to use so much â darling â the sounds reverberated in your heart. His beautiful face and honey voice made you hurt in the loveliest way possible. Although a light rain had started to fall, you walked along the side of the street. You had to get out of the city, which seemed to be suffocating you with bittersweet recollections. Quick steps led you farther from the small streets and onto a more open road. If you followed it, you would eventually end up at your dorm, and that was your idea.
The rain was growing heavier with every second, but you were too exhausted to care. Every step you put between yourself and that gaming arcade felt like therapy. Running away from your problems wouldnât solve them â you knew that â but there were hot tears brimming in the corners of your eyes, and you couldnât have cared less about what a good therapist have advised you to do. Open fields surrounded you, while now and then a car passed you. They must have thought you a loser. It felt pretty accurate, even to yourself.
Grimly, you blinked up at the low, apocalyptical clouds in the sky. Like you had provoked it simply by looking, a violent downpour suddenly dropped on you. At least this way the passing cars wouldnât see your tears, you thought. Your chest ached as a sob rippled through you. As if it would do you any help, you pulled the hood of your sweater over your head. Within less than a minute, you were drenched to your undergarments. The harsh wind only forced the rain drops to cut into your skin sharper and froze you down to your bones.
You could have screamed. No one would have heard, either way. Damn you, H/N! Damn yourself, for thinking you could handle messing with a boy as handsome and perfect as him without falling. Thunder struck somewhere in the distance, and you realized it was rather dangerous to wander around fields during a storm.
Due to the loud downpour, you barely noticed the vehicle approaching you. Only when it slowed down next to you, you saw. Thinking it would be Ken, coming after you, you turned your head with a vicious look that could have killed. Oh, how wrong you were. The face of an addictive angel was staring you in the eyes. Seeing H/Nâs features after all this time was enough for your heart to skip a beat.
âGet in!â he shouted over the rain. In your dreams, you thought. Couldnât he tell by your expression? He was the last person you wanted to see right now. While youâd been locking yourself in your room for weeks, he had been parading around campus with a new girl on his arm â at least thatâs what Chohee had told you. If he didnât need you, you didnât want to need him either.
âNo!â you yelled back. You straightened up, looked ahead, and kept walking. But he wasnât going to give up this easily. He had reduced the carâs speed to your own steps and was staying right beside you.
âDonât be crazy! Are you trying to catch a cold on purpose, you idiot?â he shouted.
âGet lost!â you replied. âIâm not getting in your car, so just leave!â
âFine, youâre not getting in,â he said, trying to sound gentle. You werenât out of tears yet, and you feared if you looked him into the eyes, you might break again. It was a chance you werenât going to take. You didnât know how many times you could fix yourself before your heart became irreparable.
âWill you at least tell me why youâre walking around like an abandoned puppy in the rain?â he asked.
âNo,â you said stubbornly. He didnât need to know how horrible your luck in men continued to be. âI told you, leave!â
His decision to ignore your request was something you shouldâve seen coming.
âPut this on, at least! Youâll catch your death out there!â he shouted. You turned your head at the very moment he threw you his leather jacket through the open window. Reflexively, you caught it. The letters of his name on it now only spelled out harrowing heartsickness. Yet, you were shivering with cold. Keeping your sulky expression, you eventually slipped the black jacket on. Great. If he left now, youâd have to return this eventually and see him again. Except he wasnât even thinking of driving off.
âI miss you, you know?â he confessed. What did he want you to say? âMe tooâ wasnât even beginning to describe how the mere thought of him pulled at your heartstrings.
âDoesnât look like it,â you shouted. âYouâve got plenty of girls around you every day!â
âI donât fucking care what it looks like! Youâre hearing it from me, right now, so believe me!â he shouted. âYouâre not replaceable, Y/N! And Iâm goddamn tired of this fight, or whatever you want to call it! I miss you!â
You didnât reply. It was taking up too much energy for you not to sob again.
âI miss you as my friend!â he went on. âSex with you is amazing, but thatâs not what I mean! I miss you being a billion times smarter than me, and I miss you lecturing me about stupid stuff, and going on disastrous donut-drive-throughs with you and telling you every little detail of my day! Youâre my best friend, and I miss her!â
Inevitably, you finally looked at him. You loved him somuch.
âIâm sorry I said I could switch you out for someone else. Thatâs bullshit. No oneâs like you, and you know it. No one will ever be like you,â he said. âIâm sorry I acted like a possessive dick at the party! I didnât have any right to behave like that. And Iâm sorry for using you, and then pushing you away when Minji came around. I was looking for someone to sleep with, itâs trueâŠif I sleep alone all I can do is think of you, goddammit! Donât you get it?â
Donât you get it? What the hell was he saying? You swallowed the torturous urge to cry at how much he made you feel. Anger, sadness and the way his voice made you think of coming home â it was all too much.
âIâve been giving you space to say it for so long. That night by the burger shop. Every single late night phone call, Iâve been hinting and trying to get you to respond to me. Iâve never done this, and youâre so intimidating! But fuck this waiting and hiding around! If you wonât say it, Iâll say it then!â
Finally, you found your voice. âSay what, H/N? Youâre not making sense! What is it youâve wanted me to say?â
âThat I love you! Iâm fucking in love with you! Youâre the best thing thatâs ever happened to me and I canât stand not being allowed to tell you! Fuck whatever we had! If you donât want anything to do with me anymore, Iâll leave! At least I got to say it, because Iâve been going mad with you in my bed but having to keep my mouth shut!â he shouted. That was it. Tears streamed down your already wet face, and you forgot how to breathe beneath the wave of emotions which crashed over you.
âSay something, Y/N. Please,â he asked. You were on autopilot, letting your heart do what it had wanted to do since he had first appeared in his car.
âI love you, too, you idiot!â you shouted, and grabbed the edge of the open car window. He hit the brakes and you finally opened the door to climb onto the seat beside him. Slowly, reality sunk into his expression and his lips curled into a smile. Without another thought, you grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him.
The sigh from his lips summarized how you felt. Like a weight was lifted off your back, like you could finally see clearly and speak honestly. You tasted rainwater and his mouth was hot against your icy lips. With time, his tongue warmed them up and you melted against him like he was your life source. When he grazed your cheek with his careful fingers, you felt how there were still drops running down your skin.
âDonât cry,â he said, and kissed away your tears. His loving lips and hands were band-aids on your wounds with the way he held you and pressed his mouth onto your jaw.
âIâm sorry I told you to fuck off, and for using you as an anger outlet after my terrible date,â you said. He was beginning to shake his head, but you had to finish your words. âTruth is, I knew it wasnât going to go well from the beginning. He could have had the manners of a prince and I still would have wanted only you. Iâve wanted you for months. But I thought you would push me away if I said a such thing.â
âWe were both idiots,â he said. âItâs all forgotten. How about I drive you home, you take a warm shower and I then I take you on a date?â
You laughed a little. âI think Iâve had enough of dates for today.â Your words made him raise his eyebrow.
âItâs a long story,â you said. âBut I would love to go on a date with you. A real date. No booty-call.â
âHow lucky youâre in my car now and have time to tell me all about that long story,â he said. âAnd deal. Iâll pick you up tomorrow at seven, then?â
âI didnât say you couldnât come along to my place,â you said. âOr do you think Iâd let you go home to sleep without me?â
âMy girlfriend has the best ideas,â he said, and the butterflies exploded in your stomach. Is this how it was always going to be now? You realized, as he started the car and raised your hand to his lips, that youâd have to deal with a hell of a lot more butterflies raging in your belly in the future. But this time, you wouldnât shut them out.
If you were to tell anyone that the so-called 'gentleman' was kissing you like a man starved with every ounce of gentle sexiness left outside of the bedroom door they would not believe you but were you going to tell them in the first place? hell Nah! You rather prefer to stay here and Spend every given moment like this if it was possible.
Breaking the heated kiss his lips made their way from your jaw to the spot behind your ears the place which makes your stomach flutter and rub your thighs together for some friction leaving wet patches in their wake his his hands which were resting on your waist raising to feel your curves as the left hand snakes from your stomach towards your chest grabbing them in his large hands as he mumbles an almost inaudible "perfect" you can't help but moan as you left shrap canines biting into your skin followed by some harsh sucking, his right hand went to the back of your thighs raising towards your butt giving it a good squeeze the hand on your chest reaches towards the shoulder playing with the spaghetti strap of your summer maxi mini dress as you removed your hand out of the strap and reached to the back of his head your mouth forming an 'o' shape as he did the same with the other strap and pulling your dress down to your stomach your hands scrapping his hair making him moan as both of his hands now groping both of your supple chest while his mouth tries to lick and bite your nipple through the bra making it as well as your panties wet. Your hands trace is toned back reaching down grope his butt spreading your thighs further apart you aligned yourself to the centre as your felt his bulge from his trousers you raised your hips and rubbed your panties clad centre to his making raise his head groan making you open your eyes and see him staring right back at you with your eyes mirroring his blown with lust days of pent up frustration from the lack of meeting and underlying sadness on the reality they you both belong to ,your eyes travelled down his neck as he swallowed making his fucking Adam's apple rise and fall you wanted nothing more than you bite it rasing on your elbows your both were grinding on each other your hand went behind his head and grabbed his hair yanking his neck towards your mouth licking the spot just below his ears you blew cold air making shivers run down his spine "fuck baby" he gasped he humped against you, you sunk your teeth on same spot your licked and began sucking making him hiss "no marks" but you paid no mind and and mumbled a small "hypocrite" finishing up your work you admired it for a second and gave it a small peck followed by a 'perfect' which made his grip on your tightened as you feel back on your bed. His hands which were resting on your hips shifted slowly down between your legs bunching the fabric up so he could take a look at his favorite panties on you his hand went down and covered your crotch putting slight pressure on it he whispered in his deep voice "so hot.. so worked up ... so fucking horny... all for me" grinding the heels of his palms making you gasp "all for you" your hands violently trying to find his arms he was sitting on his knees looking at your almost wrecked form you quickly grasped his wrist and said "babe stop.. stop" making his eyebrows furrowed in confusion he withdrew his hands from your center as you sat your self hair a little mess and lipstick smudged with your dress all wrinkled and hunched on your stomach and whole body warm with bra strap hanging loose on your shoulder and the hickies purple and red slowly blooming his hand went to your face thumbs tracing your cheeks he asked in his deep slightly scratchy voice
"What's wrong baby? You don't like it?"
You shook your head to a no and said,
"No I love it, but please lock the door and draw the blinds I don't wanna be interrupted again."
He recalled your little indoor date on your balcony, which led to a good makeout after some wine but was interrupted by your roommate.
He sighed in relief and kissed on top of your head moving away he got down from the bed and locked the door dimming the lights and drew the curtains pulled his trousers down and threw them on the place where his shirt rested. Soon he was on top of you again and said, "So where were we?"

There had been a certain tension between the two of you for a while. He knew you werenât the innocent âChurch Girlâ you pretended to be, and you knew he was curious. Curious about what could be so great as to reject what you were taught at church. What could possibly be better than Godâs love?Â
He had asked you as much one day, while you were waiting for your parents to stop socializing so you could go home.

A situation like this is something youâve systematically analyzed, nothing different from your line of studies. Itâs simple and quite easy to understand. He would ring you after a stressful day, youâd meet up at the parking lot behind his college departmentâs building, and before you could even ask what happened, heâd have you under him shaking with pleasure.

You stared blankly at the ceiling, processing the day youâd just had. College had drained the literal life out of you. You were exhausted on every level. Waking up every morning to go and get education was already hard enough, but having your ex-boyfriend attending all your classes was like the cherry on top.
On the first few days following the breakup, people had been surprisingly considerate. At that point, everyone in college had known of your relationship with Sungjin, and the news of you two splitting had spread around at the speed of light. Although there'd been weird looks and mumblings here and there, youâd been thankful people had left you alone. Unfortunately, your moment of respite hadnât lasted long: soon enough, girls had started walking up to you, wanting to hear your confirmation that Sungjin was now available. After all, who wouldnât want to date the handsome, talented, smart guy with an angelic voice and the guitar skills to fit? And, to top all of this, you and Sungjin had all your classes together! You regretted matching your schedule with his at the beginning of the year, back when you two were still a thing and all you wanted was spend more time with him. So, here you were, stuck with your ex-boyfriend and his fangirls in every single one of your classes. Today had been no different: youâd had to grit your teeth and force yourself to not roll your eyes the entire day. Seeing all these girls swoon over your ex every time he so much as breathed was the most annoying thing to you. Today, it had been twice as unbearable â if that was even possible â since your best friend had ditched school and left you to endure Sungjin and his groupies on your own.
You had gone to the bookstore after class to complete your shift before finally heading back to your apartment. You hadn't even bothered taking off your shoes and jacket before slumping down onto your bed. Itâd been a long, long day, and you wanted nothing but a bit of rest. You lied motionless on your back, feeling your eyelids get heavier and heavier. Just as you were about to drift off to sleep, you heard a knock on your door.
- âYes?â you asked, your voice weak as you lifted yourself up on your elbows.
The door opened to reveal Wonpil, your roommate. He scratched the back of his neck, avoiding looking at you, before speaking.
- âHey... I-umm... I brought takeout.â
Seeing your lack of response and your blank expression, he stuttered:
- âItâs just- you looked really tired at the bookstore today so I... I kind of figured you wouldnât want to cook. I guess. You like Chinese, right?â
You simply nodded, disbelief swallowing your ability to respond verbally.
- âCool. Itâs on the counterâ, he said with a gesture towards the kitchen before turning on his heels to leave.
Snapping out of your initial shock, you exclaimed:
- âThanks!â
He flashed a small smile and disappeared into his bedroom. Your heart warmed at his actions. Wonpil hadnât been your number one fan since youâd moved into the apartment with him. You believed he still held you responsible for ruining his friendship with Sungjin, and for many other things. He used to be horrible to you on the first weeks, heâd done everything in his power to get on your nerves: make a mess in the apartment without cleaning up, stuff up the drains on purpose, hook up with girls in the middle of the night and test the thinness of the wall that separated your two bedrooms... Lately, however, Wonpil seemed to have gotten over himself. You two had stopped fighting every day and, much to your surprise, you even found yourselves casually watching TV together â in the most awkward silence, of course â on some weekends. Tonight, heâd gone as far as to bring takeout food so you wouldnât have to cook, because he knew how tired you were. Your relationship with Wonpil was conflicted and weird, but deep down, under layers of awkwardness and maybe a little bit of resentment, he was still the sweet and caring boy who had offered you to stay at his place when youâd had nowhere to go. You smiled to yourself when you saw the takeout on the kitchen counter. Maybe you werenât completely alone in this, after all.
After eating the food, taking a shower and changing into proper sleeping clothes, you were officially ready for bed. You lied down on your back once again, finally giving in to a well-deserved night of sleep, everything in your room turned off. Except your phone, apparently, because it started vibrating under your pillow just as you were about to fall asleep. You swiped your thumb across the screen with a groan, ready to lash out at whoever had dared trouble your well-deserved good night sleep.
- âWhat.â
- âWhoa, easy there. Did I wake you?â said a male voice that you recognized instantly.
- âYou piece of shit! Where were you today?â you exclaimed.
Your best friend Younghyun chuckled from the other side of the line.
- âSorry about that. Umm⊠Something came up. I hope you survived.â
You frowned, even though he couldnât see you.
- âOf course not. I may have lost my last brain cell. Next time you plan on skipping, let me know so I can avoid the lonesome suffering.â
- âPromiseâ he chuckled again. âBut, for my defense, it was totally unplanned, I was on my way to class when they called.â
- âWhen who called?â
- âSomeone...â
You could practically see the slight â wannabe mysterious â smirk on his face. However, you were not in the mood to solve mysteries tonight so you just dropped it and changed the subject.
- âOkay, but why are you calling me?â
- âBecause I was deprived of your sweet voice for an entire day, love. And also, I wanted to ask you out.â
You rolled your eyes at his teasing.
- âWhere are we going this time?â
- âHey, whatâs that supposed to mean?â he asked, exaggeratingly offended.
Of course he knew what that was supposed to mean, you didnât even bother listing all the times he had taken you out to weird places or made you do weird things. Those he called âdatesâ. They consisted in sneaking into the kidsâ park to stargaze, grocery shopping at two in the morning, car-camping in the forest on a whim... Not the most common hang-out spots, but youâd always ended up creating good memories on those unusual getaways. As weird as they were, and as much as you wanted to be annoyed at him, you cherished those dates.
- âAnyway, weâre going to a party tomorrowâ Younghyun continued.
Your jaw nearly dropped. What the hell had gotten into him? You never went to parties, and neither did he, unless he was performing. Or maybe he did go to parties, maybe he just never brought you along because you hated parties. Maybe your best friend was actually good at socializing but pretended he wasnât just because you werenât. You didnât know. But you surely werenât going to a party tomorrow.
- âNo weâre not going to a party tomorrow.â
- âYes we are. Come on y/n, itâs gonna be fun! Itâs time to get that broomstick out your ass.â
- âWhatever, Iâm not going.â
When Younghyun spoke again, his tone was more serious.
- âListen, I need to go to that party. Iâm up to something really big and Iâm meeting with someone important there. You can choose to stay home if you donât want to go, but itâs important you know Iâm not having any fun there without you.â
You stayed silent for a moment, and he took the opportunity to add:
- âTacos on me this weekend?â
- âFineâ you sighed. âWhere and what time?â
You knew without a doubt what Younghyun was up to: it had to be about his music. Honestly, you were surprised to find out how talented and passionate he was when youâd first met him, yet he was majoring in business and not music. Heâd told you at the time that music was just a hobby, but you knew it was more than that. Younghyun was in a constamt inner conflict on the topic of his future. He wanted to do music. That was all heâd ever wanted. His mom and dad had always been supportive of him, they never once pushed him to choose business over music. He made that decision himself. His family didnât have much wealth, and his parents had faced many financial problems throughout the years. Although he really wanted to become a musician, Younghyun also wanted a brighter future for his family, and you respected that.
Truth be told, youâd had the most erroneous first impression of Younghyun when the two of you had met. Heâd seemed to have an attitude and a cocky behavior that youâd found annoying. You remembered the first adjective that had come to your mind was âobnoxiousâ. And, as a commercial music major who needed a business course, you had found yourself having many classes with Younghyun. Great, you had thought, extra time with Mr. Obnoxious. But then, on a night out with friends, youâd seen him perform at a bar, and youâd had to admit he was damn talented. Heâd seen you staring and had walked up to you after getting off stage to ask you for feedback. You had told him in all honestly that youâd loved it, and your surprise had increased when heâd said he wrote and composed his own songs. You two had talked for the rest of the night, and youâd realized how much more you had in common than youâd let yourself believe. It was that feeling when youâre with someone and it just clicks. Whatever the topic of conversation was, you were always comfortable, it all just felt right. The next day of school, heâd immediately sat down next to you and started talking about that ex-girlfriend heâd had in high-school who had dumped him for another guy. He said she didnât even like anime and just pretended to watch with him when really she was texting her girl friends or some other guy. He said whatever. He said his parents had never liked her anyway. And then heâd asked you about your own exes, and youâd just started rambling. Just like that, he had become your best friend in the span of a few drinks and high school stories. Half of the campus thought you two were dating, but the thought of it made you cringe. You loved him deeply, though, but as a friend, and you were positive he felt the same about you. No matter what happened in your life, you could always rely on Younghyun.
Which is why you were extremely confused when, while you were in the middle of a partying crowd the next evening, he announced over the phone that he wasnât coming. He quickly explained that the person he was supposed to meet had changed plans and that they were now to meet at their place. He apologized about fifty times, and to each âsorryâ you just responded with an empty âokayâ. Younghyun told you to go home if you couldnât find anyone to hang out with, apologized again, and ended the call. The anxiety had already kicked in and you found yourself on the brink of tears, stuck at a place you didnât know, with loud and possibly drunk strangers. And, to top it all, youâd spotted Sungjin in the corner of the ballroom, talking to a girl. God, youâd rather have a ton of bricks fall onto your head than witness this shit. Unable to take it any longer, you sneaked your way through the crowd, looking for the exit. In the very tricky, sweaty and alcoholic process, you bumped hart into someone you didnât even bother looking at. You kept going, throwing a quick âsorryâ over your shoulder.
- âY/n?â
The person you had bumped into called out to you. At first, you didn't recognize his voice, but then realization hit you and you looked up at the tall, lanky boy in front of you.
- âJae? Oh my God, hi!â
His signature glasses up his nose and a red cup in his hand, Jae smiled widely at you. It had been forever since youâd last talked to him, although you used to be really close just two years ago. Heâd been your first ever college friend, but then life had happened and youâd somehow just drifted apart.
- âHeyâ he said and gave you a quick hug. âWhat are you up to? I donât see you around here very often.â
You and Jae were polar opposites: you were the quiet girl who always sat at the back and never went to parties, whereas Jae was the fun, energetic social butterfly who probably knew everyone on campus, teachers and various other staff included. You werenât surprised to find him here, but you could definitely understand why he was surprised to see you. Shit, you were surprised at your own self for being here.
- âI um... I was supposed to come with a friend but they stood me up.â
- âYikes. Is it Brian, that guy who hangs out with you a lot?â
- âYeah, that doucheâ you said, not so jokingly.
People often referred to your best friend as Brian, the name heâd used while he was abroad in middle school. Younghyun wasnât too fond of that name, but sometimes people called him that âcause they thought it sounded more stylish. You would only call him Brian when you were intentionally getting on his nerves.
- âYup, he seems busy these days.â Jae remarked. âIâve seen him perform like three times this week.â
- âThatâs no excuse to let me down at a party where I donât even know a single person. Glad thereâs an exception thoughâ you said, poiting at him.
You were so upset and missed your comfort zone so much you let out a frustrated sigh before speaking again.
- âListen, I think Iâm just gonna head home, Iâm sure you got friends to be with. See you in class, yeah?â
- âYou could stay, Iâd be fine with that. I mean, I came here with these dudesâ he said, gesturing towards the dance floor where a group of â very hyper â guys were waving beer bottles in the air and jumping to the loud music. âI might get hurt if I join them, so I might as well stay back and catch up with an old friend? What do you think?â
You hesitated. Even if youâd wanted to go home right now, youâd have to wait for a bus - which would only arrive in an hour or two - or get a taxi - which you werenât sure you could afford at the moment. You had to admit you also appreciated Jaeâs company. Maybe it wouldnât be so bad to stay and hang out with him. He looked so warm and friendly and familiar, you considered accepting his offer. Your eyes then drifted over to Sungjin and his new female friend. Your heart clenched in your chest and your face dropped slightly. Jae followed the direction of your stare and then looked back at you, before adding:
- â... unless you want to go home, thatâs fine too. I was just suggest- â
- âIâll stayâ you announced, causing Jae to raise his eyebrows.
If you were honest, you didnât want to stay. But the way Jae looked at you right now, with a mix of embarrassment and sympathy, it made you change your mind. You wouldnât take another look of pity. You were okay, goddamnit! No need to treat you like some frail, breakable, vulnerable, weak thing. For some reason, of all people, you especially didnât want Jae to see you that way.
- âLetâs go get some drinksâ you said and grabbed Jaeâs sleeves, dragging him across the room.
As you made your way to the bar, a few heads turned to your direction. Some people recognized you and started talking, probably about the fact that you were there and Sungjin was too, and oh poor little thing, she must be so heartbroken seeing him talk to other girls, but you tried not to care. Tonight, you wanted to prove you weren't some hermit with a broomstick up her ass and a broken heart. You were normal and okay, and you were able to have fun at a party if you wanted to, ex-boyfriends be damned.
You were quickly reminded that tonight the Universe wasnât your friend as you felt anxiety creep back into you, asking who exactly you were trying to fool. You heart was broken after all, and surely a drink wouldnât be enough to fix it. You stared at the foreign beverages aligned on the table, not so sure anymore about all that normal-girl-having-fun card you were trying to pull. Jae, guessing your lack of experience in drinks and parties, proceeded to explain what was what, what had alcohol and what didnât, what was spiked and what wasnât. He also had to explain what âspikedâ meant upon seeing your confused expression.
Trying to show off your adventurous side, and also trying to show you were a fast learner, you took a bottle of the strongest drink, grabbed a red cup and started pouring.
- âOkay, easy with that oneâ said Jae.
Too late.
As soon as the liquid went down your throat, you wanted to pull it back up and spit it out. Jae laughed and took the cup from your hands. He then poured something into it that you barely registered through your coughing and gagging. After slightly shaking the cup to mix it all together, he handed it back to you.
- âHere. Itâs 7UP. Should be drinkable now.â
You reluctantly took another sip, and were pleasantly surprised.
- âThis actually tastes good.â
Jae offered you a warm smile, so warm and friendly and familiar. You felt safe. You were probably having some fun tonight after all.
- âOkayâ you exhaled. âLetâs kick off this party.â
The alcohol mixed with 7UP tasted pretty damn good. Heck, it really tasted good. Or maybe it didnât, maybe it was just you. Maybe you just normally liked 7UP. Who the fuck knows.
- âWho knowsâ you chanted, throwing your head above your head as you leaned back into the grass.
- âKnows what?â Jae asked, his cheeks flushed, a grin plastered on his face.
He was a happy drunk, and maybe you were, too.
- âThere are just⊠so many things we donât know Jae. Do I like 7UP or do I not? No one knows.â
- âAre you drunk?â
You thought. Well, you tried to think. Your eyelids felt kinda heavy, and the grass was so comfortable beneath you, you felt like you were about to fall asleep. You felt really giddy though.
- â⊠kind of.â
Jae burst out laughing.
- âOkay, youâre completely wasted.â
His laugh was so contagious you couldnât help but laugh along with him.
- âYeah, I probably am.â
You sighed, feeling somewhat⊠enhanced. You felt everything more intensely, the alcohol making it hard for you to remain stuck in the same thought process. Your mind was all over the place, exploring ideas and possibilities like it hadnât done in a long time. You realized you were probably drunk, but you were surprised at how lucid you were, still. In that moment, you felt more in touch with yourself and your own emotions than you had ever been since⊠well since the breakup. Maybe this was just what you needed: a fun party to unwind a little bit and reconnect with yourself, let go of the pressure of trying to survive, and just breathe again, if only for one night.
Suddenly, a wave of sadness washed over you. You guessed unexpected mood swings were also a part of this drunken rollercoaster. You felt so sorry for having distanced yourself with your emotions so much you needed alcohol to find them again. Youâd been so caught up in trying to start over, trying to pick up the pieces, you hadnât realized you had abandoned yourself in the process. You had stopped taking care of you, stopped doing things for the sheer fun of doing them, stopped enjoying things you used to enjoy. How many times had you avoided looking in the mirror so you wouldnât see how tired you looked on the outside? How many times had you decided to take more shifts and overwork yourself because you were afraid to be alone with your thoughts? And how many times had you declined Younghyunâs âdatesâ that you loved so much? Way too many times.
- âHey, you crying?â
The genuine concern in Jaeâs tone made you even more emotional, and you cried harder. Loud sobs escaped your body as you sat back up and folded your arms around your knees.
He reached out and rubbed your back, whispering âitâs gonna be okayâ every now and then, in between your hiccups and sniffles. So you werenât a happy drunk after all. You were an ugly crying, depressed and chaotic drunk. You wondered what Sungjin would say if he could see you right now. Would he feel guilty? Would he feel ashamed? In your drunken opinion, he should.
When Jae decided it was time you left the party, he helped you up from the ground and led you to his car. Not that you had stopped crying, but you managed to mutter your address in between persistent hiccups and sniffles. You suddenly felt so grateful for him. The two of you had lost contact over the years and you hadnât immediately remembered him when youâd bumped into him tonight, yet here he was, driving you home and stuff. Being nice to you. Being a friend. Tonight was definitely a night of realizations. Youâd treated yourself like crap, but you had friends who had your back: Younghyun, Wonpil, and even Jae whom you hadnât spoken to in two years. You couldnât let them down. You needed to get back up and move forward, because you had people who believed in you. You cried the whole ride home. You hadnât cried like this in so long, it felt kind of relieving. It was overwhelming, all these emotions, but you needed to let them out. Sungjin had moved on, now it was your turn to get closure and embrace new beginnings. You were finally, officially saying goodbye to that chapter of your life.
By the time Jae pulled up in the driveway of your apartment complex, you were nearly passed out on his passengerâs seat, with just enough consciousness left in you to mumble your apartment number when he asked. He didnât mind this, though. He had been a little tipsy earlier in the backyard with you, but he had sobered up the moment youâd started crying. Jae hated seeing you like this. Every time he saw Sungjin on or off campus, he wanted nothing but to punch him in the face. Damn Sungjinâs handsome face, he thought, then quickly shoved the thought out of his mind. He couldnât do that right now. Unfortunately, you werenât his to protect. You werenât his, youâd never be. There wasnât much he could do to ease your pain, but he could at least make sure you got home safe.
You were completely knocked out, so he had no choice but to carry you until he was in front of your apartment. Unsure of what he was supposed to do, he knocked on the door. It was 2 AM and he felt a little self-conscious, but he brushed it off. Chances were your roommate was home. Supposing you had a roommate. Fuck, what if you didnât have a roommate? Would he have to search through your bag for a key and let himself in? That would be inappropriate, wouldnât it?
His thoughts were interrupted when a key turned in the lock and a very sleepy, very confused Wonpil appeared in the doorframe.
- âUmâ Jae started, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible.
He cleared his throat.
- âShe, um, drank too much.â
- âI can see thatâ he replied, studying your snoring, otherwise lifeless, form. âThanks for bringing her back. Her bedroomâs this way.â
He stepped back to let Jae in and padded through the living room, leading the way.
Jae laid you gently on your bed, careful not to wake you. He wished he could stay there and watch over you, hold your hair in the morning and make tea for you and tell you itâd be okay. How badly he wanted to press a kiss to your forehead, and wrap his arms around you. But he couldnât do any of those things. If youâd been awake to see the way he looked at you right now, youâd immediately find the tenderness in his eyes. Youâd be able to read everything heâd been meaning to tell you all these years, ever since heâd met you, and youâd understand just how much you meant to him. But you couldnât see. He wouldnât let you see anyway, even if you could. He stood back up, thanked Wonpil for letting him in and headed out.
You had just spent the whole night crying after seeing Sungjin with another girl, clearly you werenât over him. Jae couldnât stay in the picture, he just didnât belong there, heâd never fitted into your life anyway. And, just like he had in first year after realizing you liked someone else, he removed himself and walked away from you. You werenât his, youâd never be.
But oh, how he wished you wereâŠ

um hi I've been thinking about something for a really long time thigh riding and pet play with Jae and a really shy reader :3
To be honest, Iâm sorry if I disappoint with the pet play part but I only usually imagine âmilderâ things concerning this topic (i.e just one or two accessories and limited vocab and phrases relating to the pet play roles)
What I am imagining though is Jae getting you to be a good girl/boy for him so that in return and as a reward, you have permission to ride his thigh... Imagine just having to get down on your knees for him, maybe wearing something cute and playful as he strokes your hair and praises you...
and just as heâs about to cum just from you using your mouth on him, he manages to muster the will power to stop you, rewarding you and saying you can finally climb upon his knee. Jae would just love the sight of you desperately grinding on him, decorated with a cute choker and maybe some ears... I think basically what really turns him on about pet play would be how obedient you are for him
It kind of works to your advantage too because of how you get so flustered under Jaeâs touch and how you donât really have to speak much, getting to hear Jaeâs talking and sounds only... âYou like that baby?â he asks you as you ride his thigh and all you can do is nod to say âyesâ.
Maybe if youâre extra good, heâll touch you at the same time until youâre close to cumming for him :)
-Blind in Love: Two people who canât see and yet refuse to get out of bed and put on their glasses.Â
-(Untitled, Jae): Jaeâs date idea goes incredibly wrong but thatâs fine because heâs really cute anyway.Â
-Call My Name: Every relationship has a story, and yours seems to always involve his name.
Sungjin
-Save Me, Save You: When a flash from the past comes back to haunt Y/n, they find out things about their ex-boyfriend they never thought were possible.
Young K
-Bass Line: Who said you couldnât bond over shared interests like the bass, not being around people, and each other?
-Frigid Love: As a storm encroaches on your college dorms your heater breaks but your warm ass boyfriend decides to make things better.Â
Wonpil
-Teach Me How To Love: When you run out after a bad argument Wonpil finds himself contemplating your relationship, you running to save you when your worst fears come to light.Â
The next four months were pretty much the happiest and best of Jaeâs life.
He ended up living with you for the whole semester even though the schoolâs housing department offered new apartments to everyone affected by the fire; even if heâd wanted to take them up on it, you wouldnât have let him leave.
I mean, you would have if he had insisted on living in his own place, but⊠he hadnât. Because living with you was kind of amazing.
The two of you established a routine fairly quickly: you would force Jae to do all of his schoolwork during the week, Monday through Thursday. Fridays were set aside for cuddly movie nights, Saturday mornings almost always consisted of a breakfast trip to Taco Bell, and most of the weekend was dedicated to video games.
