Lalita is a Half Moon native, she was born and raised in the heart of the town. Her mother met her father when they were in high school and instantly fell in love. The two dated until after college and that was when they had Lalita. They were always encouraging and supportive of anything that Lalita wanted to do. Lalita often came off as a shy girl until you met her. She was never a stranger for standing up for those who's voices weren't being heard. Most of her time in school was spend behind a book or joining finding a cause to advocate for on the weekends.

The femme's love for books carried over into her life. When graduated high school her parents had bought out a little building where she had opened a bookstore up at only 18. Of course her father helped manage it until she could handle it all on her own. Now at 34 the book store has been around and thriving for 16 years. although the bookstore has done well it is in no way making lalita rich. she gets by comfortably because she has a roommate.

Those who frequent the bookstore know her fur-child Winnie the Poodle. He is a big huge baby and loves to greet all the customers that come in. He is a good boy who helps them find just the right books with the help of his mother.

Lalita is very free spirited and loves people. She is kind and outgoing and loves to have fun and be silly. She can turn any situation into a good time and likes to make sure the people around her are having a good time. as an adult she is a big believer in free love and struggles with settling down. she has always been the weird kid from day one and even through adult hood she had fully embraced it. her hobbies are reading books at the local animal shelter to dogs, going for walks with her own dog, dressing up and taking photos with her dog, really anything that has to do with dogs, drinking at a local bar and eating potato wedges at the strip club.

“christ, lita. hit me with those damn home truths,” clay mumbled, although it only hurt because her words were true. blonde, blue-eyed, rugged, hardworking—objectively clay was a catch, so why was it so difficult for him to break free of the shackles and explore the treasures of half moon bay? he would choose work over a trip to the bar, would choose drinking with his brothers over spending time in one of the town’s watering holes; he outwardly complained that it was the harsh brow and crows feet of his father that left him stagnant when, really, he was the only hurdle in his one-horse race.  chewing on the inside of his lip, his shoulders bunched as he watched her. “so you ain’t gettin’ no action, none at all? pretty girl like you should be able to walk into anywhere and pick whatever guy she wants. or girl. i ain’t judgin’.” he may have been from the depths of buttfuck nowhere, homegrown as soybeans and upland cotton, but there wasn’t a judgemental bone in his body. having escaped tennessee young, forced to integrate, he had opened his eyes to the joy of difference. “drier than a who-now? oh, if my mama was here she’d be whipping you round the back of the head this instant."

The Calhoun men had damn good genes, anyone with eyes could see just how handsome the men all were. Though Lita knew that it could be hard meeting new people. She had know. That Clayton spent a lot of his time working to take care of his family, it was very noble of him and Lita had looked up to the man for it. “You should give yourself some slack. It is hard to find the love of your life or even the love of your night when you’re out busting ass all the time. You are too young to be working yourself so hard the female confessed to him.

Lalita let out a soft laugh, “i was just saying the same thing about you… Unfortunately it takes a lot more than having a pretty face and fun personality to take someone home for the night.” She pointed out then she let out another laugh. “Me? I was only repeating what you said!” The woman said between her laugh as she picked up her coffee and took another drink. “You’re the one who brought up the nuns in the first place.” She mused. “It isnt all that bad though, sometimes it is just easier to take care of it myself. Faster too.” She shrugged, “anything a man or woman can do for me lately i have realized can just to it myself..” She shrugged nonchalantly. “Well i guess not everything-“ she shook her head ”but you get my point.”

it was the only place, realistically, that jasper would have felt comfortable working. the boy had wanted a job ever since he turned eighteen, but the typical entry-level jobs—fast food chains, grocery stores—weren’t built for jasper and his need for quiet, for familiarity. one thing he loved more than hot chocolate was literature, and so lalita giving him a chance wasn’t just the opportunity for him to earn, but a lifeline to a boy who felt as though the world was specifically built against him. smoothing back his hair, jasper’s lips twitched into a sweet smile. “i’m okay, yeah. i’m really sorry. i didn’t mean to be so late—” a few minutes, inconsequential to an employee who cared less for their job, “—i couldn’t just leave it there. i’m all scratched up from its claws, but i think it was worth it.” they would heal, and his role was still intact. with a firm shake of his head from one side to another, jasper’s freckled nose scrunched. “i don’t know. i’m hardly an employee of the month.” although, it wasn’t like lalita had many to choose from. as though a lightbulb had been turned on behind his eyes, jasper illuminated. “what kind of shipment?”

once lalita spent time getting to know the other she had no issues allowing him to come work at the bookstore. it was pretty slow most of the time and pretty quiet. occasionally weenie would bark or get into something but asides that it was a pretty nice place to work. "don't worry about it. really it isnt the end of the world if you are a few minutes late, things happen.. really. it is fine!" she reassured him. "do you need me to grab the first aid kit? we could get you some ointment on those scratched and get them cleaned out so they dont get infected or anything." she suggested. "no i dont blame you, i think you did the right thing by saving it, the world needs more people like you.. you should come down to the shelter with me sometimes and volunteer." she had suggested. "oh just a couple boxes of books! some of your favorites too i beleive."

Hunter laughed out loud when he realized she was just pulling his leg and growled at her as he wrapped his arms around Lalita's waist and spun her around, tickling her sides and picking her feet up off the ground as he did. "You're a little devil tonight ain't ya?" He grinned and shook his head as he set her down and swatted her on the ass as she headed for the bar. "Yes ma'am." Wherever they went next would hopefully have cheap drinks since Hunter was always broke as a fucking joke. He waited outside, leaving Lalita inside alone only because he knew Joaquinn would literally tear the head off anyone who harassed a woman under his roof so he felt like she was safe. When she emerged into the early evening glow he offered his friend his hand. "Where to?"

"don't pick me up, put me down!" she squealed when her feet left the ground . "im not used to being that high up in the air, you know this." she teased the taller male. she had made her way to the bar to close out both their tabs. lita never minded paying, her bookstore always brought in money and if she could share a good time with her friends then she certainly would. once she finished she came outside as she took his hand when he offered. "i dont know part of me just wants to buy a bottle and get wasted at my place.. my roommate moved out so it has been so hard to sleep there alone lately." she confessed. "a few drinks always helps me sleep better."

Sanem glanced up when Lalita took a seat across from her while she sipped on her milkshake, "it's been forever but you've been busy with the store and so have I," she chuckled before shaking her head, "it was fine--I mean I didn't see anymore traction than usual. Did you? Because I hope you did." Luckily for Sanem, spas were always necessary given how stressed people were almost all the time, but she knew with the presence of electronic books, bookstores weren't getting as much love and given how much she advocated for physical books, Sanem always wanted to hear good news from her friend.

lalita had started to become pretty fond of the woman in front of her. she enjoyed seeing her around town, at the spa and at the bookstore. "yes busy has been pretty booming lately thanks to the book hop thing." she confessed. "i take it the spa has been doing fantastic as well and thats why i havent seen you?" she asked her. "either way i am glad youre going well, you look stunning per usual." she told her. "it was a bit overwhelming if im being honest. it has been a while since ive been that busy."

"Nightmare," he repeated with a smirk as he led her towards the back door. The alley was far from glamorous — anything with an even remotely appealing view had been saved for guests — but Foster was far from picky. He'd definitely seen worse. "Depends on the day," he shrugged lamely, pulling his pack of cigarettes out of his back pocket. "I don't really deal with them much, but I deal with the people who do. Sometimes, I think that might be worse." The days when his CDC was in a bad mood, either from needy customers or anything shitty in her home life, everyone's days became miserable as a result of it.

"It's a... book signing, yeah?" He assumed, because that was the only reason he could think of for way Lalita might be there. She wasn't exactly the hotel's normal lunch crowd. "It any good?"

Lalita had to be the worst person to be around when you needed to get some work done. She as a total distraction. She wouldn’t ever shut up and she constantly would bother those around her. It wasn’t like she did it on purpose it was just who she was. Making some excuse to bother Foster was something right up her alley as she made it through the kitchen and out the back door with him. She teetered her head from left to right, “mmm, I’m not sure anyone can be worse than the woman I encountered.” She confessed to the man. “I don’t see how you do it, honestly you are a saint and deserve a day named after you.” She teased.

Lalita nodded, “Yeah, just a book signing over an author who had never sold a copy that wasn’t to her mother or sister.” She admitted to the male. “I’m not one to criticize writing, I can respect anything someone writes. It takes a creative person to write a book… but between you and I it was terrible. I agreed to sell it in my store and then I read it and I’m just not too sure how I’m going to do it…maybe I’ll panic but them all together and use them for my next bonfire.”

"it is just a drink and who knows you might actually meet someone and have a good time." she suggested. "i can be a great wing woman.. talk you up and if all else fails you can come home with me...im joking... im joking." she reassured her.

she had took a seat across from her friend at the diner. "so you have to tell me all about how things are going in your life. i feel like it has been a bit since we have caught up." she told her. "how was the book stamping thing that we were all doing turn out for you?"

"so i am so far out of my element here." lita told the man, "i have never bought drugs a day in my life." she confessed. "not saying i never have done then, i just never have bought them." she continued to blab. "i was just really here because a friend of mine was wanting some pot." she confessed. "and was too scared to do into a dispensary.. not really sure why." she continued on. "either way.. that is why i am here... for some weeds."

the woman had given him a chance. when the twitchy, anxious boy threaded his resume through the slat in the door and turned up for an interview, the odds were stacked against him. the only work experience jasper had prior to coastside had been baking with his sisters and yet, in some twist of fate, lalita had taken a chance on him. for that, the least he could do was turn up on time. breath was tugged through his open mouth in ropes. "yeah, i'm okay—thank you. i was going to text ahead, but that would've made me even later. i found a cat stuck in a tree," it sounded ridiculous, but not for his soft heart, "i had to help it out. i can make the time up. where do you need me today?"

lalita had grown a soft spot for jasper. fore the longest time she wasn't even going to employee someone else. she liked running and being the only one that worked the bookstore. however she loved having someone else around and was thankful she had given the other a chance in the store. she had grown to care for the boy, he had seemed like a wallflower that lita felt the need to protect time to time. it was silly. "as long as you are okay then i am completely fine with you being late. we all have things that keep up and i cant even blame you for getting distracted by a cat." she nodded, "actually i am more of a dog person so the cat could have stayed in the tree... i joke." she corrected herself with a smile. "you helped it out?" she asked ."how noble of you, oh my goodness. we need to get you a ribbon or a employee of the month thing here." she told him. "i just got a shipment in of new books i figured we could tag and put out today."

living practically on top of each other their entire adult life meant that clay and hunter had very few secrets. they had seen each other in the most compromising positions, things that no brothers should see—but they were thicker than thieves because of it. clay wasn't just a brother, but a father; he had raised his two brothers from nothing and, because of that, there was a transparency between the cowboys. it was why he barely flinched at the conversation, the depths a usual sibling would shy away from or retch at. "but you like him, eh?" poking the bear was quite a speciality. "he told me, yeah. an' i don't know what to think. honestly, i can't believe that sonofabitch is drownin' in ladies when i'm dryer than a nun. save some for the rest of us, y'know? damn kid..." but how could clay blame hunter, when it was the blonde that had been handed their father's face, his leathery features and receding hairline. "so, you still with the other bird or are you flyin' solo?"

lalita couldn't help but let out a laugh at clayton's comment. "like him?" she tried to process the words. did she like hunter? like/like? she didn't think it was like that. "look i adore your brother.. but the sex was nothing but casual. nothing but fun." she corrected herself. "i don't think there was any kind of romantic feelings there between us. it was just fun and sex. nothing more nothing less." she explained to clayton.

"i think the reason hunter gets laid so much because he doesn't hesitate to just be himself or to go after what he wants for the night. maybe you wouldnt be so dry if you put yourself out there and tried that approach. the calhouns have might fine genes i dont think the lack of sex if from your looks, clay" she reassured him then she shook her head, "nope, lili and i broke it off probably six months ago. i am as you call it dryer than a nun." she laughed repeating the words out loud.

"You know I love your--wait, do you think I have small hands?" Hunter stopped mid thought to look down at his hands and frown. He had never been self conscious about them before but now he was looking at himself in a new light. He tried to stay focused on the dancing though and ignored the way he was now refusing to look at his own hands. With everything else on his mind that was the last thing he needed to worry about. His life was about to get a lot more complicated, though he didn't know that just yet.

Spinning Lalita around on the dancefloor was an easy task, and Hunter didn't give a damn who was watching them. He never cared who thought he was crazy or too much, he had the people in his life he loved and cared about and that was good enough for him. No room in his little bubble for haters. "Well god dammit Lalita Khan, if you ain't the sweetest little thing in this town." He chuckled and kissed her cheek before he finally slowed to a stop as the music changed and he could almost swear he heard Joaquinn grumbling about him being there again. "I think we oughta skidaddle on to the next place before Quinni kicks me out."

lalita couldn't help but let out a laugh at the small hands comment. "i think you have the perfect size hands. no need to sit around worrying about your body and if it is in proportion." she teased. "your hands arent small, i was just teasing." she reassured him. lita loved her relationship with hunter. it had once started out with sex but overtime the sex had pretty much ended and a beautiful friendship had blossomed. she enjoyed every moment she had spent with the other. "i know, but don't tell anyone i'm sweet. i got a rep to protect." she joked knowing her reputation may had be a look cooky but she was certainly a sweet girl. "yeah joa has been on one lately.. i have no idea why." she confessed. "but let me close our tab and i'll meet you outside. next place is on you."

"And not leaving was hurting me." She spoke shaking her head. She knew that it had hurt Hunter when she left, and in all honesty at the time she hadn't cared. In fact she had hoped that it would hurt at first. That maybe by leaving she could make him hurt the same way that he had been making her hurt in the year leading up to the decision. However that was something that had nothing to do with Lalita. It was a conversation that she would have to have with Hunter at some point and she planned on doing just that... she just wasn't sure when exactly.

However she knew that Lalita was right. She was friends with the both of them, something that Camila had no issue with, however she hadn't realized that in her not informing Hunter of her arrival that she was sorta unintentionally picking sides even though Camila had never told her not to let him know of her return. "I know I know I've just been so busy that the thought sorta just slipped my mind." She sighed, it was a complete lie. She hadn't stopped thinking about how she was going to break both the news of her return and her newest addition to the man. Actively avoiding places that she knew he frequented. "I'll do it though, this week maybe I'll give him a call." She shrugged.

Wanting to redirect the conversation from herself she tried focusing it back on Lalita "Since we've hashed out the conversation of my past relationship how's your love life these days?" She questioned "Any lucky suiters recently or just free love?" She questioned wiggling her eyebrows "I wanna hear all the juicy details that I've missed." She smiled.

lalita hadn't wanted to bring up things with hunter. she figured it would be best to leave the few months that lili and lalita invited hunter into their bed as a secret for now. not that it was anything she was ashamed of or wrong with it... but it seemed like things were confusing and complicated enough for her two friends. she didnt feel the need to add more. "well i dont want to sound like an asshole because you know i adore you, cam.. but you cant let it slip your mind. this is his life. you cant keep things from him." she sighed. "he deserves to know you are back.. you cant keep putting it off. i cant keep the secret much longer, it isnt fair to keep lying to him." she admitted.

then when it turned to her love live she laughed, "what love life?" she questioned. "lili and i were together for a while.. tried a little poly thing here and there but things just kinda fizzled out about six months ago." she told the woman. "i havent really dabbled in anything since then. nothing serious at least."
