Just because I don't believe in intelligent design doesn't mean I don't acknowledge how beautiful and amazing organic life is. It means I don't believe some old man snapped his fingers and created digestion, regeneration, breath and sight. It means I'm thankful for billions of years of work and sacrifice put into (so to speak) making those things work. The same applies to defects and abnormalities. Realizing life isn't supposed to be perfect helps me cope with imperfections.
