He’s on my team, if you haven’t noticed yet, it’d be impossible not to meet him. But look, all I’m saying is that you obviously have some… anger issues, which is totally your business, but that is not a really good quality for a prefect. I’m surprised you’re even wasting your time and parchments on those letters, it’s obvious he won’t ever listen to you, and at this point, I’m pretty sure he simply just throws your letter into the fire before he even opens them. [hold back a chuckle at his embarrassment for calling out on his staring] No surprise there.

I don’t have anger issues. [he tilts his head to the side in confusion] Contrary, I believe I have all the right traits for a prefect. I punish those accordingly who have wronged me. And personally, I can’t find fault in that. [his gaze still remains hungrily trained on Vanity] I like it when girls are confident about their appearances. [he all but purrs] Especially when that confidence is so accurately placed.

"Well that’s one idea. But, ya know, I’m really not thinking this hex is to the belief betraying standard. How about you undo it, I admit you’re probably better at wizard chess than me, and we call it a day?"

Lance squints, trying to figure out whether the other boy is mocking him. "Of course it's not completely up to standard. As I said, I could've done something much worse. Luckily for you, however, I am on a probation of sorts. As it is though, I find it rather amusing watching you waddle around like a fool. Not that there's much difference to your usual walk there. If it's a wizard chess tournament you want, however," he adds, unable to resist the temptation to boast when it lies so freely in his grasp. "I would happily beat you. I don't know whether your ego would be able to take much more bruising though."

"Sorry, just… Do you think we could be done with this reading for the day?"

Snapping the book shut irritably, Lance scowled at his brother. “What is it?” he demanded. “Learning about your ancestors isn’t gripping enough for you? Is it too boring for poor little Liam’s ears to hear the fascinating ways in which they hunted down muggles? Even the last one,” he added incredulously, “were the purebloods set off dung bombs to round the muggles up? That held no interest for you whatsoever?”

Don’t complain about that to me, go to Dumbledore for that. Not that he’d actually let you finish telling your reasons as to why you deserve to be prefect more then certain people, but you could always give it a try. [rolls her eyes] Malfoy, huh? I should have known. [tilts her head and smirks at his distraction] You know, I’m going to take your drooling as a compliment, but try to look a little less like you haven’t seen a naked girl in your life before, would you?

Are you implying that I wouldn't make a good prefect? That Malfoy is doing a better job that I would? Clearly you haven't met the guy. Dumbledore wouldn't listen though, at any rate. We've been writing to him for years demanding he rid the school of those who are unworthy, but the old, obnoxious fool has yet to listen. [at Emma's next comment, Lance ceases in his obvious gazing] Please, [he all but splutters] it's not like I'm some fourteen year old mudblood virgin. I'm well aware of what a naked girl looks like. You're just the finest I've seen in a while, is all. [shrugs nonchalantly]

"Not a chance. Unless you're willing to admit that your entire ideology is completely fucked up. You're lucky a simple hex was all I did, Cresswell. I doubt having your limbs bound together would do much to worsen your Quidditch skills though," he adds nastily.

"Don't give me that look," he snaps. "It's not like I want to be partners any more than you do. So get prophesying," he finishes, shoving the crystal ball at the mudblood, before pulling out a packet of liquorice wands.

Of course it’s better, it’s the prefects’ bathroom after all, everything is better here. [sighs pulling the towel around her tighter not wanting it to fall off] How did you get the password anyway?

Well, yeah. But we can't all be prefects, even if we do deserve it more than others. [scowls] It was easy enough to get the password out of Malfoy though. This news may startle you, but he has the tendency to brag about things. A few taunts and I had him. [he trails off slightly, distracted by the sight of a practically naked girl just inches away from him]

[raises an eyebrow] Severus Snape? Really? Hmmm. I suppose he does dress a bit weird and his hair is kind of greasy. I’m still surprised at the possibility of a half blood in Slytherin, though. 

Oh, yeah…well, sooner is better, I suppose.

It's disgraceful, really. [he agrees with a pained sigh] But as I said, I'd have to be a fool to miss the signs, and that's certainly not me. I've heard he's also rather good at Herbology as well as Potions, so really, there's enough said there. The time is fast approaching were we won't have to degrade ourselves to sharing sleeping quarters with such filth though. Maybe even by the end of this year. Father says they have something rather marvelous planned. [he says with a smug smile, clearly pleased to have such important information]

Shit. Sorry. [he says, looking down and attempting not to ogle the pureblood before him] There was a half-blood in our bathroom, so I thought I'd just jump in this one. And the water pressure is better.

"What are you suggesting?"

"That the entirety of the pureblood population are ashamed that you dare take the title of being one of us. But then again, I suppose you didn't have much hope with the upbringing you had."

"Then deal with bad marks, mate." He eyed the wand he pulled out with a scowl on his face. "What? Going to hex me because I speak the truth?"

"If you're suggesting that I'm not intelligent enough to get the marks by myself, you're sorely mistaken, mate," he snapped, advancing a menacing step towards Lupin. "I'm going to hex you to prove a point. To show just how superior us purebloods are, and so that you can get the ridiculous idea out of your head that we're equal. But if you're going about trying to take the moral high ground here, care to explain what that punch was for? Because I was right about your insecurity of being a pushover?" he drawled, before quirking a challenging brow.

The Mayhem of Mudbloods || Lance & Gideon

As he watched the look of panic and utter disgust on the other boy an idea began to form in his head. Should he do it? Could he do it? He probably shouldn’t but he defiantly could, and he most certainly wanted to. Who could pass up such an opportunity anyway? It would be foolish.

Gideon raised his eyebrows at the other boys threat. “Whoa there coughy, fist of all don’t go and infect me your germs, and second and don’t think right now you could.” He took a moment forced himself to at least look a little concerned. “You look like death? I’ll help just tell me what happened?” Gideon let his head hung low, as if ashamed. “Besides I don’t want what happened to me to happen to you, no pureblood should have to go through it.” His eye shifted back to Lance for just a moment while his head was practically screaming at him not to laugh.

"Infect you?!" Lance screeched wildly, breaking off in yet another fit of hacking coughs. Despite his current disposition, the idea still seemed ludicrous to Lance; that he could possibly be the cause for impurifying someone.  "I could still take a blood traitor like you in any state-" he began rasping, before abruptly breaking off at the look of evident concern on Prewett's features. Now that was more like it. The care that he deserved. Underneath all that traitorous attitude, a pureblood was still present, kicking away inside.

"I was attacked," he responded after a moment of grave staring. "It was a feral mudblood, you know the drill. I shot it down, of course, but not before it got a touch," he finished, voice lowering to an almost mutter at the last part.  Lance knew that there wasn't time for this; that he had to get to a Healer immediately, but he couldn't without the assistance of Prewett, and if there was a chance, no matter how small, at saving the other boy's soul whilst he was at it, he owed it to the pure blood racing through his veins to at least try, didn't he? "By 'what happened to you', do you mean being tempted by the blood traitorous way of life?" Lance inquired in a hushed voice. "Because you can still save yourself, it's not too late. Or...or do you mean something else?" he asked, suddenly fearful again. Had Prewett once been tainted with a mudblood's disease, and then as a result become a blood traitor?! Would the same happen to him?

"Ah, come on, Selwyn. Aren’t Slytherins known for doing things behind others back? Just thought I might follow your example." He sighed then and crossed his arms, resisting the urge to punch the other boy again. "No, there isn’t. Look, next time, just help more than you did."

"Fuck you," he snapped angrily. "Fuck you if you think for even a second that you have the right to use a name as pure as mine with disrespect, and then that you can criticize purebloods! We're known for using our cleverness to our advantage, and why shouldn't we?" Lance had unsheathed his wand from his pocket now, and was glaring murderously at the other boy. "I'm not ever going to help a half-blood." he finished, taking on a tone of great disgust.

Oh, I know. I didn’t say they were. [nods along to what he says, never believing a word but hoping that he would stop talking about it soon] Half-bloods in Slytherin? No, that can’t be. Who?

[she eyes his wand warily] Easy, Lance. There’s a time and place for things. Your time will come, don’t worry. 

[smiles tightly] That’s what I was going for. My job here is done, then.

[Lance smiles slightly at Andromeda's nods, feeling pleased that he can be certain she's on the right track] I have a few theories on who's not who they say they are, actually. My main one being Severus Snape. He's never admitted to being a half-blood, but have you seen his normal day wear? And his manners whilst eating are simply appalling. His hair is also rather greasy, and his skin tone is questionable at best. It's obvious he has some muggle blood in him. He shares a dorm with me; I'd be a fool to miss the signs.

As for my time coming? I think it'll be sooner rather than later. That incident in Hogsmeade has ripped the rule book right up. The times where purebloods have had to be cautious in the past are leaving us, Andromeda. And after Dumbledore either gets fired or dies, the school will be an open warefare. [he finishes cheerily]

You know, I could always help you, I’m actually pretty good at Potions, after all I am a part of the Slug Club for a reason.

Ahh, so it's not for the good looks and pure bloodline, then? Because if so, than that explains why Slughorn forgot to invite me to his exclusive club. And you could if you liked. I'm sure you'd do a much better job than those prats I've been using lately. They're only in it for the money, of course, but I thought that they'd at least have half a brain cell.

"Fucking hell!" Lance exclaimed, hand coming up to clasp at his already bleeding nose. "I don't think that counts as a victory if I wasn't even ready, moron," as Lance spoke the words, he desperately hoped Lupin wouldn't take the opportunity to strike again, for if he was being honest with himself, the kid had a much stronger hit than he'd expected. "Is there strength potion or something in all that chocolate you eat?"

I know, thank you. [shrugs] I guess I’m not like most pureblood ladies. I won’t let anyone scare me that easily. Oh well…you know…with everything that happened with my cousin they can’t help but worry that…mudbloods would want to further tear our family apart. And what with my sister getting attacked during the Hogsmeade visit by them, well, let’s just say they’ve got enough on their plate. [eyes widen in surprise and fear] What? He did that? Oh…uhm…good for him, yeah. Totally inspiring. [smiles] She is the loveliest girl. As a big sister I am required to give you a ‘Don’t hurt her or else’ speech but I think you already know that, right? Oh, I know. I trust my parents and I know they’ll find me a great suitor. I’m not worried.

Your parents aren't wrong. [he agrees gravely] These are dangerous times, Andromeda. There are mudbloods everywhere; in all wizarding villages, bars, walking through our own school halls. I've heard at Durmstrang they only accept those with a pure bloodline, which rather sounds like a heaven on earth to me. Here, you cant trust anyone, it seems. There are even some half-bloods in Slytherin. They'll try to hide it, of course. But it's painfully obvious. Mudbloods have been trying to destroy pureblood familes as of late though. And you see the result of their damage in blood traitors. People, who were once so beautiful and pure, who had their whole lives set out for them and to look forward to, and they go wasting it on those who would attack you for your privileges in an instant! For those who have stolen magic from innocent witches and wizards. It's rather saddening. Merlin, [he breaks off, sliding his wand around his long fingers] all this talk about them makes me want to take action as soon as possible. [he shakes his head in disgust for a few seconds, before a grin slides across his lips at the girl's feeble warning. As though she could do anything about it if Lance were to hurt her sister. Not that he would, of course. Purebloods were purebloods, after all.] Of course I wouldn't do such a thing. But now I know of the wraith that would await me if I did. It's truly terrifying, I assure you.
