Then lets go do something.
Oh is just my potions homework, how are you today?
Sounds thrilling. I'm good, yeah. You?
You look confused.
"I suggest many things, on a regular basis too."
"But what are you suggesting this time?"
A party, Marlene. What else would I be suggesting?
And where shall we hold this party?
"What are you suggesting?"
Happy Birthday Bitch || Sirius and Marlene
He chuckled but didnāt feel embarrassed, he could be romantic when he wanted too though those instances were rare. Romance was too close to love which was too close to heartbreak and Sirius wasnāt really sure how much more heartbreak he could endure in one lifetime. It seemed like that was his fate: to have an eternally broken heart, as pathetic as that was. And he rebelled, and he fought it, but no matter what happened, something always went wrong. But lately the lines had started to blur and he wasnāt as worried about getting his heart broken by her, he had almost convinced himself that itād be worth it.
"Like muggles?" He asked, leaning forward to kiss her cheek then pulling away to look at her. "Or like aliens?" He laughed aloud. "Theyāre probably better off not knowing anything about this world." Sirius moved his hand to her cheek and his thumb moved across her skin. "I like it better imagining that weāre the only people here. No parents, no professors, no Hogwarts. Just you and me."
Sirius wasnāt sure what was coming over him but it was overwhelming, like he only wanted to be with her and he couldnāt imagine a better way to start another year of his life. In a spontaneous movement, his hands moved to her hips and he lifted her up to spin her around in the water before bringing her back down. She was tight against him and he kissed her roughly, biting her lip softly. āHappy birthday to me,ā he joked.
"Okay," She agreed, smiling up at him. "Just you and me and this night and this lake and we'll never get older and we can do whatever we want because it won't matter and no one else will have to cope with the consequences and we'll be here as long as we want and then when we don't want to be here any more, we'll close our eyes and float up into the sky". Marlene grinned up at him like it were really that simple and she could make her life happen like that simply because she wanted it to. And it was a nice dream really, because she hadn't been liking what was happening in the world for a while.
She laughed as he moved her around, legs wrapping around his waist as he held her up. Her arms pulled him closer to her as they kissed and she found her head spinning in a way that normally came with copious amounts of alcohol. "Happy birthday, babe. Want to make a birthday wish?" She smiled at him, fingertips brushing his wet hair out of his face.
The smile on his face was everything she had hoped for when she planned the night time getaway for the two of them. From the sound of his childhood, she couldn't imagine that he had many happy birthday memories and all she wanted was to make this a good one for him. She wanted to prove that it didn't always have to be bad just because it started off that way. "You know Sirius, I'm predicting that this is going to be a good year for you."
Well itās obviously because I am and always have been deeply in love with you, Marlene. I thought you knew that already.Ā
No, no, you donāt get to take all the credit. Thatās not fair.Ā
Well your love is failing. Where are all the stalker pictures?
Can I have eight of the credit? Out of ten?
Dungbomb in the common room? Seriously?
Youāre sixteen.
Exactly. Not grown up until 17.
Happy Birthday Bitch || Sirius and Marlene
Sirius put on hand under her to help her stay afloat and walked around with her as she skimmed across the surface of the water. The sand under his toes was soft and warm, or at least warmer than the water was. He couldnāt help but admire her body as the moon, which was only half full, covered her in its pale glow. His other hand roamed across her stomach, slick and smooth from the water. His fingers were beginning to prune but it only made his touch softer.
With her question, his head turned toward the sky, his hair falling back out of his eyes gracefully in a way only he could accomplish. With one hand, he reached out and took hers to point towards his star. āThat one there,ā he pointed. āThe brightest one. Itās calledĀ the dog star,ā he said with a chuckle that he was sure she didnāt understand. His tone turned sad for a moment. āItās called Sirius because that was the name of Orionās dog, his companion.ā He didnāt add that his fatherās name was Orion.Ā
Among many other subjects, the Black children were taught astronomy which was why he knew so much about the stars. They were also taught French, Latin, Greek, music, ballroom dancing, and a load of other things Sirius always thought were meaningless. Still, now he could show off his knowledge. He moved her hand within his to the left. āAnd there is Monoceros, the unicorn. You can be Monoceros and Iāll be Sirius, and weāll always be together in the sky.ā He said it softly and didnāt even think of how lovingly he had said it but he broke from his reverie of looking upon the sky and turned his gaze back to her.
As he spoke, she could hear his voice getting sadder with each word and though she didn't understand why, Marlene knew she still wanted to make him happy again. She hadn't realised how in tune she had become with his emotions, knowing when to give him space and when to make a joke and when to simply show him that she would be there. This was one of the latter times. She didn't know why his demeanour had changed but she knew that somewhere in him he just needed someone to be there. Pulling their hands down briefly, she kissed the back of his knuckles and smiled up at him.
His next words shocked her and her stomach flipped in response almost like what Lily would always describe as butterflies. But she was Marlene Mckinnon and boys didn't give her butterflies, even when they were gorgeous and their voice sounded like the only promise she would ever want. "You know, that was almost poetic." She grinned up at him, voice losing the cocky tone that seemed to come through. In place of her usual sarcasm sat a voice that seemed almost sweet and uncertain. "But I like it."
She dropped her legs down, moving to wrap her arms around his neck and press her body against his. "You think somewhere out there another boy and girl are looking out at the stars and it's like we're looking at them and they're looking at us? And they're picking out their own stars and they don't know anything about this world?"Ā
Break Me
His was the first life she ever took and he became the first person she ever watched die. It was a battlefield outside St. Mungos and she knew they'd shown up too late and hadn't been able to stop the explosion but she was fighting as if she had someone to save and even though fear gripped her chest she had to keep going. It was a defected curse, that was all but she could still see the smile on his face as she moved to carry on.Ā
He didn't even register that she'd hit him, she could tell that and then he was falling and falling and she wanted to run back over there and shove life back into his body and do something but he was a death eater and wasn't she against them? Except she didn't see a death eater as he fell to the ground, she simply saw a boy she went to school with and maybe that scared her more than anything else.
But she kept fighting, and after the fight she went to him and closed his eyes because what more could she do? and after all, wasn't she just as bad as him now?
Yahoo Me (you can choose what they're celebrating)
Marlene checked through every inch of the bag she had packed as she walked through the gates to Andy and Ted's house. She'd walked through so many times before that she couldn't even feel the magic of the security spells shivered around her. it was best that way. If they didn't react she could get to the door unnoticed and her surprise would remain just that.Ā The girl answered the door with surprise in her eyes as Marlene stood there grinning widely.
"Marlene, what are you--"
Marlene cut her off with one laugh. "It's the night before your fucking wedding, Andy and your almost husband is currently camping on the sofa in my tiny little flat. No one should be alone the night before their wedding. So I bought face masks and chocolate and champagne and we're having a girls night."
She'd been planning it with Ted for months now, ever since they'd announced the wedding. Sirius was walking her down the aisle because she didn't have any other family members left and so Marlene was going to be there the night before. It wasn't the same, of course, even Marlene knew that the girl would rather have her sisters there but even the blonde couldn't make miracles like that happened. And so she appeared at the door with a smile on her face ready to be the best cousin that she could be.Ā
"Now hurry up and let me in the fucking door before you end up with a frozen statue of me out here."
Nurse Me
Marlene Mckinnon liked to believe she was an honest person. Which is why she had no problem telling people that she hadnāt actually wanted to save the life of one Narcissa Malfoy. But she also liked to think that sometimes, when they situation called for it, she was a good person and despite her better judgement and inner warnings about getting herself out of the ambush safely, she knew she couldnāt just let the girl die.Ā
Narcissa hadnāt been fighting. She hadnāt actually raised her wand against any of Marleneās friends and she mostly had seen the girl trying to get out of the whole situation which made her, in the mind of one Miss Marlene Mckinnon, a civilian. And civilians deserved to be saved. Even if she thought they were uptight, prissy bitches.Ā
Running over, she knelt beside the girl quickly and held her wand out. Sheād never been that good at healing but she could stop the bleeding, she could at least stop the bleeding. Hands coated in the blood of the other girl she muttered spell after spell, not once stopping until she could hear Narcissaās breathing calm slightly.
As she turned to go, hoping that the blonde wouldnāt remember when she opened her eyes, a hand gripped her arm. The girls breathy, weak voice whispered āthank youā
And Marlene simply said, āYour sister is my family, it was for her.ā
Paint Me - like one of your french girls, Amos.
Leave a āPaint Meā in my ask, and Iāll write a drabble about my character drawing a picture of yours.
Amos rolled onto his side to look at Marlene, a small smirk on his face. Some of her hair had fallen on her face so he took the liberty of moving it away. His hand lingered on her hair for a few seconds, just admiring it. She really was something beautiful. He knew that and he told her often. But there were no feelings there. Nothing more than just friendship, anyway. He sometimes wondered why he didnāt feel anything beyond that for Marlene. She was a beautiful and smart girl and yet he only wanted to be her friend and occasionally shag on an abandoned classroom when they were both feeling like it. He didnāt believe in soul mates, but if he did he knew that Marlene wasnāt his.Ā
"Donāt move. You look so beautiful right now. I want to draw you." He told her, moving over to grab his sketchbook from his nightstand. Marlene raised a curious eyebrow and then laughed.Ā
"Draw me like one of your French girls, Amos." She teased, grinning mischievously at him. Amos laughed, wrapping a sheet around his waist as he propped the sketchbook on his lap and got to work.Ā
"You know how I love those French girls, Marlene. And I have drawn quite a few of them." He told her, glancing from her to the paper as his pencil moved quickly.Ā
"I know, dumb ass. Thatās why I said it." She laughed again, moving slightly. The light hit her face and she looked so very lovely. "Donāt move." He told her, trying to capture all that beauty on the paper. She just rolled her eyes at him and stayed in that position.Ā
A while later she huffed impatiently. āHow long do I have to stay like this?ā She asked.Ā
"Just a little while longer." He told her. True to his word, just a few minutes later he put the pencil down. "Okay, you can move now. What do you think?" He asked, handing it to her.Ā
Marlene grinned. āIām far more pretty in person.ā She said.
He laughed.Ā
She was right.Ā
Iām not looking at you in any way.Ā
Oh, I get enough pretty girls, love. Donāt you worry.
You're always looking at me in some way. You have been since you were a kid.
I know that, I trained you well.
Doing what?
Looking at me in a way that makes me want to hex you. Keep up, boyo.
Can't get the pretty girls if you're not smart enough to keep up with them.
