IS AC/DC RETIRING? ARE THESE RUMORS TRUE?
Over the course of the last few days, there has been a number of rumors going around that AC/DC is retiring and will exist no longer. This has put everybody in the music community, from fans to executives, running to find out if these rumors are substantiated. Well, as they say, to every rumor, there is a hint of truth. In the case of this rumor of AC/DC calling it quits, there is a speckle of truth, but a speckle is a very small amount, as is the degree of truth to this tale.
The band IS NOT breaking up nor retiring. However, founding member, and rhythm guitarist, Malcolm Young, is going on hiatus from the band, due to ill health.

BAD NEWS TO OUR GUNS 'N ROSES FANS IN MEXICO
G 'N R who were set to launch the leg of their Latin American tour won't be performing this upcoming weekend at Mexico's Hell and Heaven Metal Fest, in Texcoco, as the Mexican government has shut down the festival under safety concerns for the 80,000 people that have attended.
Considered by many to be a ploy against the city by the Mexican government, as the parties which control each entity are on opposite sides, the city of Texcoco has held plenty of other concerts including ones featuring bands that talk about the Mexican drug cartels. A rescheduled date may still happen, but at this time, it will be too late for G 'N R to perform. KISS was also scheduled to headline the festival.
NO NEW ALBUM OR 2014 TOUR FOR U2!
U2 who have been working with producer, Danger Mouse, on their new album have confirmed that the album won't be released until 2015, and no tour until then either. Apparently, the album is taking longer to make than expected and Danger Mouse is no longer involved with the project. 2 other producers, Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and Paul Epworth (Adele) have been brought in.
Although the band has released 2 songs this year, "Invisible," to support Bono's charity, RED created to end AIDS on a global level, and "Ordinary Love" for the film Mandela (the song was nominated for an Oscar), these were released for specific purposes. ("Invisible" was chosen for RED because it was the first song the band had finished, according to Bono).
NO REUNION FOR KISS ORIGINAL LINEUP FOR ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME
As you probably know by now, KISS, have been inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame, however, a reunion of the original lineup won't be happening. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have decided to perform with their current KISS band members, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, at the induction ceremony rather than with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Many fans are planned to be disappointed according Frehley.
SAD NEWS FROM THE SET OF THE GREG ALLMAN BIOPIC
Yesterday, while filming a dream sequence in which a mattress was laid over a working train track for the upcoming Greg Allman biopic based on his autobiography, "My Cross to Bear," a camera assistant was killed when an unexpected train came roaring through. Apparently, the crew was well informed of when two scheduled trains were to be roaring through, but this train, the one that killed the camera assistant and subsequently injured 7 other crew members via the debris from the mattress, was completely unexpected and struck the camera assistant. The director was almost hit as well but was pulled off just in the nick of time. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
CHRIS CORNELL HAS RECEIVED DEATH THREATS
A Seattle woman was charged this week with sending over 100 death threats via her 9 different Twitter accounts to Soundgarden/Audio Slave lead singer, Chris Cornell. Considered cyber-stalking, prosecutors have filed criminal charges against the woman.
GRATEFUL DEAD - Big News
To honor the 50th anniversary of the band's formation in 1965, Bob Weir wants to get the surviving members of the Grateful Dead together for a 2015 tour. He told Rolling Stone “If there are hatchets to be buried, then let’s get to work. Let’s start digging.” As more information develops, we'll be sure to let you guys know. And to all of our Chinese friends and fans, Happy New Year
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...2 MUSICAL LEGENDS
Today marks the birthdays of two musical prodigies, both of whom either created or became a part of bands that have had a huge impact on Rock music as we know it. The first artist is Marty Balin, who turns 72 today. Marty is the founder and one of the lead singers for both Jefferson Airplane and that band's offshoot - Jefferson Starship. Both incarnations of the band received massive popularity and success. The Airplane became a major part of the psychedelic music revolution of the late 1960s with songs like "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love," while the Starship version of the band catapulted to success in the 1970s using, primarily, a softer sound with songs such as "Miracles," "Runaway," and "With Your Love." Here's wishing Mr. Balin a birthday and year full of Miracles. The second artist who's celebrating their special day is Mr. Phil Collins, who turns 62. A multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and producer, Phil started his career behind the drums for the then Art-Rock band, Genesis, before taking the microphone, after Peter Gabriel's departure. With Phil as the singer for Genesis, the band became a mainstream Pop Rock band enjoying enormous success in the late 1970s through the early 1990s. Phil also had an even more successful solo career recording albums where, often times, he played a majority of the instruments, and whose songs broke new ground in terms of sound and production. Here's wishing that musical genius a very happy day and year.
