the most appealing version of dexven FOR ME is like more private where they have a friendship and connection first where they see eachother, the romance is coming into it and the lines get blurred a little, but it’s not something other people are tuned into. it’s their own thing.

Also even if lines are blurred I think Dexter would understand Raven isn’t ready for a full relationship at that point. she’s going through a lot and even if they have a romantic friendship there are more pressing issues. I think he would understand that and does in the books obviously.

It confuses me in the show that they just accept dexter’s crush while everyone is absolutely tearing apart hunter and ashlynn. that is the daughter of the evil queen and son of prince charming? I don’t care that he’s not the premier son he’s still one of them that’s obviously controversial. And it’s a very public crush on Dexter’s side. That’s why I think it being a more private or slow thing would work because Raven doesn’t want another thing for people in the hall way to whisper about.

EAH animated series Dexter: He isn't confident in himself because he can't ask out Raven.

EAH books Dexter: He's a victim of child abuse, being emotionally taken advantage of behind closed doors by his father. He grew up thinking that he is always meant to be second best to Daring. His destiny crisis leaves him wondering what his future would be like at all if he doesn't even know who his true love is. He tries his hardest to please his father to let him know that he has what it takes to be like his brother (even though he might be doing it out of fear of being useless or poofing away if he doesn't). He influenced Raven to question her own destiny, causing her to identify as a rebel later after that.
