Oh…I used to care for my disabled mother for a few years. I’m glad you were able to go home and help them. It can be a lot.
Really? Thinking about eventually having to doit full time, makes me nervous. How did you handle that? I’m glad too. I was worried and I needed to be there seeing him getting better myself.
Everything is as fine as it’s going to be for now. He’s resting and all the levels are in good place. I didn’t understand all of it. He has coronary artery disease. He was looking a lot better when I left than he did when I arrived, my mom too. I think she lost a year or of her life. I have never seen someone love someone more than those two love one another.
What about you? How’ve you been?
As a doctor, I want to ask so many questions, but as someone who cares about you… Would you rather talk about something else? Distractions can be a good thing. They do sound so romantic though. Your parents. That kind of love sometimes seems impossible to me, but then I see people in the world who have it, and… I believe, I guess.
I’ve been working a lot. There’s not much to say about me at the moment.
I’d actually appreciate that a lot, talking about something else. It is sort of just a hard thing to swallow, he’s never been a fragile man.... but yes we are talking about something else. I went back to the lake today and sketched a spot. I added a little whimsy and viola a setting in my story. And speaking of great loves like my parent’s... I have a great love for Carol King and her music. And Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is playing at The Portland Performing Arts Center and I didn’t know if that was your thing at all interested in that sort of thing . I mean if you are not a theater person thats perfectly fine, but I was thinking of getting a couple of tickets and wondered if you’d want to join?
All work and no fun? I don’t like the sound of that.
May I ask what you helped with? I hope it wasn’t anything stressful.
You can ask anything you’d like. I just couldn’t guarantee an answer. Let’s see... I helped with meals and giving meds and and sitting with him while mama got out of the house, routine daughter duties.
None of that was stressful, no. The situation was.
Is it difficult to be apart from them?
I think the older they get the more difficult it is for me, but really Im used to being on my own. I’ve been out and about since I was 17. I was moving around and so were they. My dad’s an army man.
I wondered where you’d gone! Everything’s alright?
Everything is as fine as it’s going to be for now. He’s resting and all the levels are in good place. I didn’t understand all of it. He has coronary artery disease. He was looking a lot better when I left than he did when I arrived, my mom too. I think she lost a year or of her life. I have never seen someone love someone more than those two love one another.
What about you? How’ve you been?
Well welcome back. Hope all is well with your dad.
Thank you. Much better. Things are definitely looking up. But I’m back now and its time to get to work.
Where are your parents? Is your father okay?
There in North Carolina. My mother finally convinced my dad to settle down there. It’s where she grew up. He’s doing better, getting some rest, but much better than when I’d arrived.
Is your dad okay now?
Yes, actually. Thank goodness. He’s doing much better. He’s had some issues with his heart for years and he’s stubborn and stuck in his on way so ... there was a set back, but for now he’s better
Are you new to town? Since you’re talking about discovery, I assume so..
Well I moved here about a month ago but I had to leave soon after so, yes I am very new. But I am excited to settle in
That was awfully nice of you to go and help your father when he needed you. Was it a nice trip overall?
I probably got more out of the trip than he did. I helped my mom out taking care of him but I was soaking up the attention they gave. It was a good trip overall, once daddy was over the hump.
Where does your dad live?
My parents live in North Carolina. It’s a beautiful city. The circumstances weren’t great but my dad is doing better and I don’t nearly see mom and dad enough so it ended up being a pretty solid trip
The Tour || The Wordsmiths
It was rare for Luna to be taken aback by a car, but she’d never seen one so undeniably sexy. Staring for a moment, she finally managed, “That’s a gorgeous car. New, you said?” Luna’s car was a silver Sebring she’d been driving for years, and it was currently stuck on the side of the road between the gas station and the hospital she worked at. This seemed like the kind of car that would never force you to walk home in the dark. “How’d you choose a name? I assume it’s not related to your namesake.”
As she tried to decide where she should take Langston first, she settled in the passenger seat, and it was very easily the most comfortable car she’d ever been in. Lining her purple paisley cane up with her right leg, she made sure the door closed without it getting in the way, holding on to the handle as she sat. “I like the lake… The water’s beautiful, and you can still find some quiet spots to sit, despite the tourists.” It didn’t seem like the best place to take someone first, but it did give her an idea. “We could go downtown? Pick up something to eat and have a picnic.” She’d wanted to do that with someone since moving there, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for it.
Langston walked around to the driver’s side of the car and opened her own door. “Yes actually it’s 100% for that reason. Langston and her trusty companion Hughe. It has a nice ring to it don’t you think?” She laughed softly. “Also I believe she is a fan of her name, or at least that is what I’m choosing to believe.” Another laugh fell from her lips as she settled in her seat and reached for her seatbelt. “A car’s name is very important to it it’s performance. There is magic in a name, Bella Luna”
After sliding the key into the ignition and turning the engine over, Langston look to the passenger seat and smiled softly at the woman. “A picnic on the lake? I like that let’s do that. I can see some of down town and I enjoy being by the water myself, so that sounds perfect. Also, Im starving a little so food sounds amazing in this moment.” She chuckle as she pulled off from Luna’s house. A beat passed before Langston realized she really had no idea where she was going. She just hopped she moving in the right direction. “Have a taste for anything? Or are we going to a grocery stare and picking up some things because that could be fun.”
An impromptu trip to help take care of my dad put me way behind and halted my discovery of the town. I’m missing my parents but glad to be back.
It’s lovely to see you have a sense of humor. What is your name? Mine’s Travis Yates.
I’m not sure I would survive without some semblance of a sense of humor.
Well hello, Travis Yates. I’m Langston Scott.
Perhaps. I’ve travelled through a couple here and there and not all are as welcoming. They were much smaller than Havenoaks.
The way I see it is when you’re new it is good to get lost. You learn your way around and discover locations on your own time.
I’ve been to a few, and that is very true not all small towns are that welcoming. In fact depending on the area they can be quite the opposite.
If only it were that simple. If only won’t continue to get lost without my gps even after months and months of living here. It will be sad, so very sad
Puppy the cat who likes to walk on a leash. This is precious. If I happen to see you on the street I hope it’s while you’re out with her.
This is a sight I must see.
Well If I’m out walking around 86.2 percent of the time its with her so there is a very high possibility that you will see this precious sight in the near future. I don’t really like to leave my cave for much else... though I’m think I am getting better.
