So, much like last week, I'm going through the photo stills for next ep of the Vampire Lestat, 3x05 New York. And I have a theory.

So here we have the lovely Delainey Hayles. The outfit is inconclusive, it definitely has tailoring elements that recall the 1930-40s or so (I'm a dabbler, not a fashion history expert). But retro styling and vintage fashion are things, so that doesn't definitively date it. The background is blurred out enough that I can't catch any other clues as to time and place.

Now. Could this be Lestat's flashbacks to New Orleans--or even additional Parisian memories that Louis didn't disclose earlier? Sure. But there's something a little *off* about it. I don't know precisely what, if it's that the eyes aren't quite right, or the skin, or the hair--there's something just a degree or two off from normal. Character design can change of course (just look at Lestat season-to-season), and actors do age and all. But I think that offness is deliberate.

I don't think this is a still of Claudia. I think this is Regina, leaning further into the fucked-up dynamic between her and Louis established in the previous episode (thanks, I hate it here). I think she (he?) purchased colored contacts and vintage clothing to sell the lie.
