I made this post so long ago that I can’t remember who I wrote this about, I have it narrowed down to 2 ppl. Both of which I have not spoken to in a long long time. But I had to look for something in one of those ppl’s text messages, and as I was scrolling I realized. We talked. A lot. And our interactions were warmer than I remembered.
I remember people telling us that we were best friends, and I remember thinking that wasn’t true at all. Bc I knew our friendship was a house of cards, we were simply too different to be friend friends, but got along well enough to be school friends. Once we separated, we had nothing in common and we probably wouldn’t talk again. But, that was 6 years of our lives we knew each other (if we don’t include high school), 4 of which we took the same classes every year, from 8am-11pm.
I mourned the future loss nearly the entire time, so much so that I didn’t even realize at the time that we were actually best friends. What a lesson on anticipatory grief huh.
Anyways, I loved the time I was with you, and I miss you. But, I am infinitely more happy that we drifted, especially with how ambitious you were. I hope you reached your aspirations, and if you didn’t, I hope you are okay with where you’re at. Wherever you are.
