he’s it for her, as painful as it is for her to admit that. of course she can admit when another male is attractive but the thought of being with someone who isn’t javier is something she can’t see. there isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for him, and she knows it goes both ways. “i know matteo means the world to you, javier. i don’t think i’ll ever doubt that because you’re an amazing father.” she can finally feel herself calming down, which isn’t something he deserves at all. “and maybe at some point i could have believed that i also mean the world to you but it’s all shot to hell now.” almost on instinct lupe rolls her eyes at his words. when they first started dating, javier often had a way with words and could get her to fold if they were fighting. “correction, it is my bed. you’re never here anymore javier, when was the last time we shared a bed together? there’s always some show, or some stupid fucking tour.” it hurts saying that because lupe was the bands biggest supporter, and she had always believed they could be big. “go on tour to do what? sit in the bus? matteo has a routine here, javier. i’m not going to be that kind of wife, you say it’ll never happen again? okay, then show me.” she replied, looking over at him. “because the way i see it, two things will happen. either you fuck up again in front of the entire world, or you become the guy i fell in love with again.”

“who told you i’d be here?” charlie asks softly, not even looking up at theo. he had gone radio silent again which he knows isn’t fair to the guy standing next to him. since wyatt dying, he had only been to the grave a handful of times. the place was simply another reminder for charlie that his first love is no longer alive. the headstone in front of him has wyatt’s favorite flowers, which charlie wishes he had given him more while he was alive. “you’re not supposed to know about this place.” he mumbles, glancing away. “logan really needs to mind his own fucking business for once. theo, theo, theo.....”

it’s surprising just how easy the two can get back into the groove of things. it doesn’t feel like much time has passed between the two of them. from an outsider’s perspective, you would think they’re a cute couple just having a nice little chat. it’s so very obvious that there’s still a spark between the pair. “you definitely didn’t deserve that shit, finn. and i hate that they put you through something so awful. but i want you to know that i’ll be here every step of the way, to help you cope with the trauma. i’m not going anywhere, not now, not ever.” monty wants to be there for finn, show him how much he really cares about him. “well i’m glad to hear that. i never stopped loving you either and i was scared that your feelings would have gone away with time. god, you remember that? i recall trying to impress you with my subpar surfing skills.” he grins at finn, wanting to pull him in for a kiss. clearly he doesn’t, monty’s not quite sure what finn’s fine with anymore. “good, i’d hate to knock someone out for trying to take my place.”

he decides to throw caution to the wind and press his lips against monty’s. a brief kiss but something he’d been waiting to do again since that fateful night he was taken away. he could feel his hair on the back of his neck stand up, causing him to pull away. “sorry i know i shouldn’t have but it’s been so long.” he runs his fingers through his short buzz cut, letting his hair grow out again has always felt weird since the school kept it short. “i wouldn’t call them subpar, monty. but i’m sure you can still use some work.” that makes him giggle because monty just kept falling. “nah it’s not possible, princess. some have tried but none have been successful.”

“lupe, i swear i’m not lying to you.” it’s as clear as day that he’s lying to save his ass. his wife sees right through him and he’s pretty sure this is gonna cost him his marriage. does he regret cheating? yeah, of course javier does. he doesn’t want to lose his family. lupe and matteo are everything to him. not to mention that his wife is his muse. most of the songs he writes and sings are about her. “cariño, there’s no need to do that. i’m telling you there’s only been two and i mean it. there won’t be anyone else, i promise. the band and i don’t gain anything from lying to you.” he has no reaction to lupe’s phone hitting the wall. she’s allowed to react and process this however she likes. “i’m sorry i’m not like him anymore.” hearing her speak about him like that makes him sad. he did used to be so full of life, what went wrong? “i’ve been a pretty good husband up until recently. this is my first and only fuck up, lupe.” he grabs her ring, sighing at the words coming out of her mouth. “don’t be ridiculous, amor. i don’t love her! i love you and only you! you’re the one i want as my wife, you gotta believe me.”

lupe faced away from him and took a few deep breaths, knowing she needs to get her emotions under control. she had always prided herself on the fact that she never blew up, never allowed someone else the power to control her emotions. “you keep telling yourself that javier, and maybe one day you’ll believe it.” internally she slaps herself for messing up her phone because now she’s going to have to wait for a new one to be delivered. “matteo is going to be home soon, i told my mother that she could bring him home in thirty. so go take a shower and get yourself together before he gets here. i also don’t want you anywhere near me so pick a guest bedroom and stick to it.” she’s going to burn her bedding the minute she has a chance. “he missed you a lot this time, the older he gets the harder it is to explain why you’re gone so long.”
