Itās rare I talk about personal stuff on here. But my country was invaded by our hostile next-door neighbor in the wee small hours of the morning, so Iām going to get personal.
Iām enraged, Iām upset, Iām terrified, and I wish I could say I was surprised. This invasion started when Crimea was invaded eight years ago. This new assault is just phase 3, after Crimea and the Donbas. Putin has made it clear he wants to take all of Ukraine. He has made it clear that he believes Ukraine and Ukrainians do not have the right to exist.Ā
In short: shit is going to get bad. I was able to speak to my uncle, an aunt, and one of my cousins before I went to bed. Iām hearing mixed things about whether or not my hometown of Lviv has been hit, but Iāve been able to confirm that my family is okay for now.
Please advocate for Ukraine. Call your reps/MPs and demand sanctions and military aid. Double and triple check your sources before posting anything - Russia propaganda is everywhere. If you are the praying kind, we welcome your prayers. If you have any questions about Ukraine, please ask! Iām always happy to share about our history and culture.
And if you would like to support Ukraine and Ukrainians financially, I recommend the following organizations:
Save Life will send funds directly to the Ukrainian army.
Hospitallers is a volunteer battalion comprised of civilian and military doctors.
Letās Help supports Ukrainian elderly.
Blood AgentsĀ supports blood donation efforts.
Ukrayinska Pravda is one of the most influential and groundbreaking newspapers in Ukraine.
