NEW HDDG CHAPTER IS UP!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
Go read it HERE and make sure to listen to the suggested songs as background music to enhance the experience!
¡Familia! ¿Qué creen? El Chapter 37 of Historia de Dos Guitarras is out.
And let me just say, this one has everything. Drama, danger, revelations that make you stop and go “Espera… ¿QUÉ?”, and yes… feelings. The kind you don’t rehearse.
No grand stage, no audience, no applause this time. Just truths coming out when you least expect them, pasts catching up, and destinies doing that annoying thing where they refuse to be ignored.
Oh, you’ll see Sartana, mi diosa, like you’ve never seen her before. And no, I’m not saying what that means… you’ll have to earn it.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when masks fall, “hearts” speak a little too loudly, and two very complicated souls realize they might be standing on the edge of something big… well. You might want to read this chapter.
Trust me.
I know a thing or two about unforgettable moments. ✨

The voice of an angel, the heart of a demon
Ask for Sartana: HEARTS 💘
{ HEARTS 💘 } ---- What's the most important thing that your muse holds close to their heart? Is it a person, place or thing?
For Sartana, what she holds closer to her heart are her family and friends: her boyfriend Ernesto, her son Machete, his daughter-in-law Camila, and her grandson Django, along with the closest friends she had during her banishment, Sandra and Andrea. For a long time, Puma Loco was part of this list. But Sartana ended up realizing that he'd never love her, and that's why she took the decision to move on.
Also: honorary mention to her sister Itzpa, whose curse is, at the end of the day, the reason why Sartana returns to the Land of the Dead. She wants to make everything alright... and, in a way, prove herself worthy of her parents' forgiveness.

Después de la escaramuza
Sartana attached quickly a letter to a gift box that she left discreetly at Ernesto's window. Sure, she could serenade him with her version of "Las Mañanitas", but she didn't want to mess things up in case her voice cracked due to her emotions. The letter, hopefully, would make up for it.
Mi querido Ernesto:
Ante todo, feliz cumpleaños! I'm so happy that I got to meet you, and that you persisted until I fell in love with you. Many wouldn't have been as patient and understanding as you are, and every day I thank the fates for bringing us together. Muchas * for being part of my life, Ernesto. You made it all better just being there for me when nobody else was. Te amo, Ernesto.
With love,
Sartana
Ernesto found himself in the midst of a lively birthday bash, the room vibrating with the beats of a live band, the laughter of friends, and the mouthwatering scent of culinary delights from around the world. The crowd adored him; everyone wanted a piece of his time, proof of his cherished place amongst them.
Suddenly, the vibrant scene started to fade, the cheers becoming distant, the room's light dimming to nothingness. Ernesto was jolted back to reality, the liveliness of his imagined party replaced by the solitude of an empty room. The fantasy of guests, music, and joy had vanished, leaving him to face his birthday alone, without the fanfare he longed for.
However, in the silence, a ray of hope came in the form of a letter, distinct and personal, that waited just for him. Recognizing the writing on it, Ernesto's spirits lifted slightly. "Sartana…" he murmured, a small smile forming.
As he read through the loving words, he ran a hand through his hair, standing a bit taller, filled with renewed self-confidence. Her words made him feel appreciated and loved, he wasn’t alone after all. Chuckling softly, he felt ready to respond.
Sartana, mi amada diosa,
What a joy it is to hear from my favorite challenge of crimson lips! Trust me, your words were like a crowd's embracing applause on this important day of celebration: my birthday, of course.
Is giving up ever an option with me, especially when it comes to someone as wonderful and intriguing as you? Absolutely not! I've always found that the best things in life...or death...are those you have to chase a little, and Sartana, let me be clear; I’m in it for the long run. Whatever it takes!
Now, down to more pressing matters: ¡festividades de cumpleaños! I couldn't think of anyone better to share this illustrious day with than you. So, how about we eat cake under the stars, marvel at the universe (a tough competition to stealing glances at me, but give it a shot), and revel in the wonders of our combined company.
Looking forward to our stargazing and cake-devouring escapade.
Con amor siempre,
Ernesto
Sartana really wasn't a very patient person. Never had been. So the moment she finished his letter, the incantation to summon her temporary wings already had left her mouth. She barely took a moment to change into one of her prettiest outfits.
She jumped through the window and flew as quickly as she could to the small room where he had taken refuge. Peeking over the windowsill, she held onto it with her claws and called out to him with a familiar whistle. Just another little gesture between them. The moment she saw him, her smile widened.
"I couldn't wait to see you, so I just snuck out." She mumbled, pursing her lips. She sat on the windowsill, crossing her legs to enhance her looks, even if it was just a little, and raised a hand to caress his cheekbone.
"Feliz cumpleaños, mi amor...", she whispered, wondering if this would be a good moment to lean in for a kiss. Sartana never knew when it was the right moment to do so... but she sure suspected this would be a perfect moment for it.
As the familiar whistle echoed around the room, Ernesto's eyes lit up with recognition, acknowledging the unique signal that announced Sartana's arrival. Noticing her impatience, he tilted his head in amusement, letting out a chuckle, well aware of her fondness for surprises.
Sitting gracefully on the windowsill, legs crossed with a hint of mischief, Sartana's allure captivated Ernesto. He looked at her as she reached for his cheek. "Qué hermoso regalo de cumpleaños me has traído... envuelto en alas, y ese vestido que combina tan bien con tus ojos..." Ernesto couldn't help but flash a cheeky grin as he admired her look. With a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he leaned in slightly and commented playfully, "What can I say, mi amor, you really know how to make a man's heart beat...figuratively, of course."
Drawing nearer, he whispered with a playful sparkle in his eye, "And who am I to turn down such a tempting offer to celebrate? Maybe we can make this very important day one to remember..."
Eager and impatient as well, Ernesto's hand traveled from her hand to her cheek before he pulled her into a passionate embrace, leaning in to kiss her with fiery passion, embracing the intensity of their shared desire.
"Aw... gracias, mi amor. I'd say either you're too good with words... or a professional flatterer." Sartana chuckled at his bravado. His touch sent an enticing shiver down her spine. One good thing of being the one sitting was that, for once, she could just float her way down - thus helping him to hold her, and not the other way around as they usually had to do due to her height.
"But I love you anyway..."
She hugged him in return, letting her lips work slowly against his mouth. Funny how, despite the two of them being skeletons, she felt almost the same kind of warmth she'd feel from being alive. Her eyelids fell slowly, taking in the beauty of his face before fully diving into this kiss that meant so much to her.
After all, this was Ernesto de la Cruz. She still remembered being one of his adoring fans, almost a century ago... and now they were here, loving each other, holding each other. A little tear escaped her eyes. Could a nonexistent heart burst of joy?
Sartana pulled back slowly, leaving a little, affectionate kiss on one of his cheeks, while holding the other with his clawed hand. "Hehe, look at us, looking all mushy and lovey-dovey together." She mumbled, pressing her forehead to his.
"If certain people saw us, they wouldn't believe their eyes. But we're not going to think about sad things today. Today it's YOUR day, so... We better make something truly special about it. I'm barely a gift, myself. Would you like a new outfit, too? Maybe a good chocolate cake? My magic can bring to reality almost anything you could wish for, as long as it's within my capabilities...!"
Ernesto tilted his head slightly, a sly grin playing on his lips as he allowed her words to sink in. His fingers brushed gently down her arm, his touch soft but purposeful. His eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and something more calculating, like a performer savoring the thrill of the stage.
"Mi querida, you do know how to flatter," he murmured, his voice smooth like velvet, every syllable dripping with the satisfaction of knowing he had her attention. He let the silence stretch for a beat, his gaze lingering on her lips before he spoke again. "I am too good with words, wouldn't you agree? But... you're not wrong. A man of my caliber must know how to flatter-it's practically an art form."
He leaned in just slightly, the air between them thick with unspoken promises. "And as for your company... No hay nada I’d rather have," he said softly, his voice low, but carrying an unmistakable undercurrent of sincerity... at least, as sincere as a man like him could manage. "Eres más que un regalo, mi diosa. Eres... irremplazable."
His other hand lingered at her jaw, gently cradling her face as his thumb traced the curve of her bone, a gesture that felt intimate, even tender. Yet, beneath it all, there was the familiar flicker of ambition in his eyes.
When she kissed his cheek, he closed his eyes briefly, as if savoring the affection, before slowly pulling back with a dramatic flourish. "Mushy?" he chuckled softly, but there was no mistaking the gleam in his eyes. "Perhaps, but I’ve always been one for a bit of drama. Life...or should I say, afterlife...is far too short not to enjoy the grand gestures, don’t you think?"
He paused, his gaze sweeping over her with a quiet intensity. "A new outfit, you say? I could use something that suits the occasion... after all, the world will see me in only the finest." His smile widened, a dangerous edge slipping into his words. "And as for the cake..." He flicked his fingers in the air, his voice taking on a lighter tone. "How quaint. But let's not waste time with sweet things when the real treat is yet to come, hm?"
With that, he turned his eyes back to her, his expression playful but still carrying that knowing glint. "Today is my day, yes. But tomorrow, querida, we’ll ensure the world remembers... and those certain people as well. So why not... show them
Valentines Day
She offered him her hand, so he wouldn't get lost. "Now that would be a sight. You'd look like an angel if you had wings." She looked away, the curly soul markings of her face emitted a soft pink glow as a blush. "Un ángel muy guapo..." Sartana smiled at his excitement. She was so familiar with absolutely everything in the Land of the Dead, that it still caught her by surprise to find out that her boyfriend hadn't been able to see much beyond the Land of the Remembered. "It IS quieter. But that's because these islands are the Special Alebrije Forces' training grounds. You'll see lots, LOTS of alebrijes... But not many skeletons here." She bit her thumb. "Still... There's chances we'll see Nanahuatzin, the god who currently commands them... Or some of my siblings, animal lovers who love to spend time with these entities. Don't be too worried if we run into any of them. I'll get us of any way's harm in a flash." A soft chuckle left her mouth as she noticed the glow of the chihuahuas. "You know what - when my mother decided to take part of your riches as punishment for your actions, I'm pretty sure that she hid them in one of the three islands. I took you specifically to this island because I know the password to her vault. Would you like to get back some of the goodies from your old ofrendas?" It's the least I can do for him on this Día de San Valentín... Since I am not beautiful or young anymore..., she thought.
las-traigo-muertas
"El más guapo de todos, sin duda," Ernesto said with a confident grin, ditching any attempt to sound humble. The usual facade had no place between him and Sartana, it was a refreshing liberation, indeed. "Angels, though? They've got nothing on us," he teased, giving her a knowing nod about her once-lost wings and self-consciousness about it. As he spoke, he noticed how her soul markings betrayed her blush, he seemed amused.
While they walked into unfamiliar territory, he lifted her hand and gave it a soft kiss, listening to her words on these lands. "Not many skeletons...ya veo." He nodded. Back home, fame and remembrance were the coin of the realm, but in this new world? What ruled supreme? Was it sheer power? The kind that gods and goddesses possessed?
He glanced at his playful pups, who were having quite the fun. They didn't exactly scream 'elite force', did they? But Sartana's confidence that she'd handle any trouble made him feel better. Even if he couldn't rely on his smile to kill anyone like before, he'd give it a shot.
At the mention of La Muerte, he felt that shiver again, but he just shrugged it off. "Playing treasure hunt against dear ‘Suegrita’? That sounds like a dare to me," he said with a cheeky laugh. The idea of pulling off a heist with Sartana got him pumped. "Let's do it! I bet my expertise will be handy. Of course, my heist skills are all from movie sets..."
------------------------------
Sartana couldn't help but smile. Between his words and those little kisses, Ernesto sure had an ability to make her feel beautiful, even if she felt like damaged goods. She reached to squeeze his hand gently before explaining more.
"These islands aren't an official kingdom like the Land of the Remembered. Mi padre used to call them "Middle Lands", because they float between my mother's and my aunt's kingdoms."
She chuckled at his quip. "You could say so. Mi madre has many, many riches waiting for two expert thieves like us to get our hands on them." She raised her fist in a cheerful manner. "Either from movies or from real life experience, all helps! But we need to be discreet."
Sartana looked down and rubbed her chin. "Your pups could help us to create a distraction once we arrive to the vault. Do they have any experience as canine actors?"
@las-traigo-muertas
Ernesto listened to her vivid description of the place, his eyes scanning the surroundings while maintaining a sense of caution about the unknown ahead. He grimaced, "Well...I've never been known for my discretion," he admitted, acknowledging what was already apparent to many. "But there's nothing I can't handle." He was determined to reclaim his treasure, no matter the cost, a form of retribution that both of them sought. Observing her enthusiasm, he chuckled. "I wonder...if these "Middle Lands" are situated near the territories of your aunt and mother...maybe there's a way to pit them against each other. What if your mother were to believe it was her sister who took her treasure?" he proposed, his thoughts shrewd and strategic. However, his pondering was interrupted by a different query. Glancing at his chihuahuas playfully wrestling, he remarked, "I'm not entirely confident in their acting abilities, but one of them does have quite the diva attitude…" @colourful-serendipity
"Sí, I could tell." Sartana couldn't resist teasing him just a bit. "That's why you're the fun one out of the two of us."
She bit one finger in awe. "I was about to suggest that! Were you already aware of the beef between mi mamá and mi tía? Or it was just a wild guess? Either way - we'll need that wonderful mind of yours and your puppies very soon..."
Suddenly, Sartana halted her steps. "Oh no, they're coming!!! This way!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him under a few bushes along with herself. She even took off her hat briefly so it wouldn't give away their position.
Shortly after, a pair of skeletons with colorful outfits and animal ears and tails walked nearby. One of them, a man, had fox traits, while another, a woman, carried graceful bunny ears.
"¡Juraría que he oído algo por acá!" One of the guards said.
"Vamos, Judith. Nadie viene a las Islas Flotantes en esta época del año. Relájate." The other answered, leaving a hand on his hip.
"¡Ese es el problema, Nicolás! ¡Te relajas demasiado!" The first guard pouted and shook her head. "Bueno, volvamos. No quiero que el capitán se enoje. No podemos dejar la caja fuerte sin vigilancia."
When the guards left, Sartana put on her hat again and gave Ernesto a wide grin. She didn't stop to think how close they were, all crouched down behind the bushes.
"Did you hear that? We're really close to the vault now!"
@las-traigo-muertas
Ernesto playfully mirrored the mischief in Sartana's expression, nodding as she shared insights about the ongoing discord within her family. "Sí, bueno, you did tell me about their kingdoms and how they've been quarreling forever," he remarked with a hint of amusement, referring to Sartana's aunt and mother. "And I thought that even among gods, families work just the same," he added, smiling and locking eyes with her, united in the thrill of their plan. "One of many reasons to choose your own--"
Ernesto's eyes widened with surprise when Sartana abruptly pulled him into the bushes for cover. He noted how she removed her hat to blend in. He briefly missed his own hat, recalling the emboldened presence it gave him, and the intricate embroidery it boasted before snapping back to the task at hand.
Together, hidden, they watched two skeleton guards stroll past, one earnest about their duties while the other took a more laid-back approach. Ernesto marveled at how precisely Sartana had predicted their path. Shifting slightly, he scanned the shadows for any lingering signs of the guards. "Indeed," he confirmed softly, "This is the perfect chance to make our move. Are you ready to outfox the fox and outleap the bunny, so to speak?" His chuckle sounded like that of a child, filled with the cleverness of his comment.
"Let’s not waste another moment," he said, extending a hand to help Sartana up, eagerness in his voice as they prepared to continue their adventure. "Our prize awaits, and I have every confidence in us," Ernesto affirmed, raring to move forward.
@colourful-serendipity
"Very much so." Sartana interlaced her claws with his fingers, giggling at his joke. When the laughter faded, she couldn't help but stare at him with longing.
If only they had met sooner. If only both of them were human. If only she hadn't wasted most of her life chasing the wrong person. If only she hadn't made so many mistakes... Maybe they could have been happy, together, much sooner.
She straightened and adjusted her hat on top of her head. "It's this way."
The goddess led him through a small path through a meadow. In the distance it was easy to spot more skeletons with animal traits, either running, training in battle or practicing magic. She noticed how his dogs seemed to stare at those people from time to time. Probably they had done part of their training in this island, too? She wasn't sure. But this wasn't what they had come to do.
Finally, a tree-like building appeared in the distance. It shared some similarities with La Muerte's castle in the Land of the Remembered, although this was way smaller, with a thicker trunk in the middle.
"We're here..." Sartana beckoned him to hide beside her, right behind the walls of a nearby hacienda. She turned to him, smiling. "Now we have to think how we're going to break in. What would you like to do?"
"Very much so," Ernesto echoed her words with a playful grin as Sartana interlaced their boney hands. He couldn't help but chuckle at her giggle; it was music to his ears. As her gaze lingered on him, he raised an eyebrow, catching the hint of longing in her eyes. "Ah, if only we could rewrite the past! You know, if I had a peso for every time I've wished we’d met sooner, I’d be richer than I already am... although that's a tough feat!" He paused, his expression shifting slightly. "Well, I'm no longer rich… not in that sense…" He said, smiling at her, though the twinkle in his eye revealed he still had a fondness for actual riches. When she adjusted her hat, he admired her determination. "Lead the way, my fierce goddess..." As they walked through the meadow, Ernesto noticed the other skeletons with animal like features training and couldn’t resist a cheeky remark. "I figure those guys got some guts after all..."
Finally, when they reached the tree-like building, he peered around the hacienda and turned to her with a wink. "Now, mi amor, this is where the real fun begins! How do you want to break in? I’m all for making a grand entrance, but I’d also love to hear your master plan. I can already sense the applause from our audience! WAIT! I think I have just the plan!" Ernesto declared, his eyes lighting up with inspiration as he glanced at his chihuahua dogs. "You see those four little bundles of chaos? They may not be trained, but they have more spirit than a mariachi band después de una parranda! And their loyalty? Unmatched!"
He gestured enthusiastically to his furry companions who had been vigilant. "I'm sure it already crossed your mischievous, beautiful mind, amor. But here’s what we’ll do: I’ll set my loyal pups loose as a distraction. They’ll cause a delightful ruckus: barking, tumbling, and generally being adorably chaotic. While everyone’s busy trying to wrangle my mischievous little friends, we’ll slip in unnoticed! They’ll be so caught up in the spectacle that they won’t even see us coming."
He chuckled, imagining the scene. "Picture it: those poor souls trying to catch my chihuahuas, who will be darting around like tiny, furry fireworks! Do you think it can work?"
