Today I found this beautiful fungus beetle (Gibbifer californicus) while walking on campus. I saw a purple speck flying and HAD to know what sort of bug it was.
Fun fact: spiders have itty bitty paws!
Look at these lil floofers!

lil bug paintings!!!
these aren’t for sale cuz i’m mailing them to relatives, might sell little originals later though. These are small postcards, and the scans are actually larger than their real size.
Totally recommend breaking out the old paints if you have some time though, it’s relaxing and nice to send people mail during quarantine!
I was last week years old when I learned that insect wing veins have specific labels and can be used to trace evolutionary relationships. It had just…not really crossed my mind before.
Anyway enjoy your slightly enhanced character design toolkit.

Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas) ♂
My heart melts every time I see one of my huge moths clean their antennae like a cat washing their face.
