Latarshia’s Prayer For Her Lost Soul
I wonder if I hear the sound between my ears, will I hear my thoughts?
Unlikely.
I am numb. I am medicated. I am amoung the living dead.
How will I scope a vision?
Through being blind. Through being a bum. Through nothingness ahead.
Now say anen as we pray for unnecessary strife and a life we can only fathom in our heads.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
The poem/prayer was written by me and was inspired by a friend of mine who, like myself suffers with mental health issues.
One day we had been talking about the Bible and she explained to me how she interprets it because from my perspective, I had just always seen it as an out of date book that isn’t relevant in today’s society. Then she explained to me how she receives it. She said that she see’s the Holy Bible as love poems to and from God (particularly Psalms.)
At the time I didn’t agree with her, but could appreciate her view! Now i’m not a particularly religious person, but I DO appreciate how uplifting believing in something pure can be. So when I wrote the prayer I was simply walking in her shoes for a day.

Modern Lingo
Back when I was 17 me and my friend were sitting on the bus to make our way home. We were holding a very ineresting conversation about the evoloution of the Carribean accent.
She said to me that from where slavery happened communication changed. She said that from where the African slaves couldn’t understand English and could only speak African, they obviously had to adapt to the change. The point i’m trying to make here is that the broken English’s and broken French that West Indians speak is because the English, French and African fused itself together to create a newer form of English.
THINK ABOUT IT.
Slavery was happening around the same time that the Englishman was speaking Shakespearenesque. The ‘to be, or not to be’ lingo died out as slavery came in.
The English language had changed the way it consistsntly does.
I can recall a time when I was in a mental hospital with a patient and we were discussing language - now bear in mind, he is a grown, black man, exposed to social media AND Portugeuse. His argument was that ‘dhee’ was a word!
At first I couldn’t make sense of it. I simply assumed that he meant ‘the,’ but then I thought about it some more and figured that indeed he did mean THE, but with a evolved accent like those in the West Indies. Whereas, they say ‘di’ e.g pon di river, pon di boat.
His handle on the English language was actually okay because I know alot of us do it (including myself) when i’m on social media I have a really bad tendancy to type words out the way that they are pronounced and confuse a few people. Especially if they are from another part of the world.
The Portuguese guy used to write some fantastic poetry. It was amusing how he would make use of words that wouldn’t have been ideal for a sentence, and yet still get his point across. Because he wanted to improve his written English, I wrote out my reasoning with ‘dhee’, ‘di’, ‘thee’ and ‘the.’

My Hair
As you may seen on my blog previously, I was going through a phase of doing my own hair. Mostly because i’ve been scared of getting my hair butchered to bits by a so-called hairdresser. However, time and time again I find myself butchering my own hair! 😩.
Since the first time that I ever cut my hair it’s never had the capacity to grow down to my back, only my shoulders. I don’t know whether it’s heredetry or my diet but i’ve tried most things and they don’t work 😔.
Anybody got any good advice for looking for a hairdresser?
I have typical mixed-race hair and in an ideal world i’d love to have my hair long but what do I do. Go to a black peoples shop or a white peoples shop? Or do I even go to a shop? Should I go to a training academy for them to do it, or a top dollar salon? Do I get a wig, do I get extensions? I’ve been through so many hairstyles and yet the only one’s that have looked good are the accidental ones.
What do I do?
HELLLLP!!!!!!
Autocorrect, why must you do me dirty?

The other day I cut my hair with a razor and was wondering if anybody had any tips on HOW to cut hair the proper way. You know types of scissors, what angles to cut at and that sort of thing. I keep on going back to it to trim bits that are uneven and I haven’t even seen the back although I keep on trimiming it from the sides.
