"Hey Hunk, have you seen Lance?" Pidge stood in the doorway to the Galaxy Garrison kitchen, where Hunk was trying out a new recipe. Pidge held a brand new video game in her arms.
"Probably on the roof. That's where he's been since the Lions left."
Pidge sighed and stumbled away from the kitchen and through the hallway to the exit that lead to the roof.
She opened the heavy door and climbed the steep stairs to the roof, the roof that had been Lance's home since Allura passed away. It made her wonder,
If I died, would Lance do the same thing?
She twisted the cool metal doorknob of the door at the end of the staircase. It slowly creaked open, the warm Summer breeze hitting her skin as it did. Pidge saw Lance sitting at the edge of the roof, his legs dangling in the air. He turned in Pidge's direction when he heard the sound of the door opening. He turned away immediately after recognizing her and kept staring at the sunset.
Pidge slowly walked to his side, the video game still in the tight grasp of her arms. She sat down and crossed her legs.
"You okay, Lance?" Pidge looked at Lance, his once beautiful ocean blue eyes were now dull and tired.
Lance sighed. "Have you ever missed someone so much that you just have an empty feeling that you know will never go away because they will never come back."
Pidge gently put the video game down at her side and looked back at Lance.
"I know you miss her, Lance. We all do."
"Sometimes I think she's apart of the stars now, looking over me." Pidge noticed tears were gathering in Lance's eyes, as well as her own.
"I understand, Lance. She was an amazing person, she sacrificed herself to save everyone she loved."
"You don't understand. You don't know what it's like to love someone for years, and when they finally love you back they die, so you just have to deal with the fact that you'll never hug them or kiss them again."
Pidge wiped a tear from Lance's cheek, causing him to look back at her, tear flowing down his cheeks from his eyes. The sight of the once confident, extroverted paladin Pidge fell in love with like this, broke her heart.
"I do, Lance. I lost you."
Pidge felt tears stream down her face. Her hand was still holding Lance's cheek, her thumb stroking his tan skin gently.
Lance began to cry more as well. His hand rose up to Pidge's hand, where he held it and smiled. That was the first time Pidge had seen him smile in what seemed like forever.
Lance tugged Pidge into a tight hug. Pidge could feel his damp face bury into her neck. She wrapped her arms around him, then buried her face into his shoulder.
They stayed like that for a few minutes in silence, Pidge wished it could stay like this forever.
"I love you, Pidge." Lance broke the silence with words Pidge never thought she'd hear from anyone. Let alone him.
