Bezos and Musk are not good people
They force their religion on people on a regular basis, but when you mention that Jesus believed in helping the poor, they suddenly believe that it shouldn't be forced.
got my november trends mixed up so i accidentally nutted 50k times and didn't write a single word
Anyway, "Scrooge" should actually mean "wealthy capitalist who doesn't care about the lives and welfare of their workers, even on Christmas", not "person who happens not to like Christmas".
The overly cheerful corporate ads spreading "Christmas cheer" and then making their employees work overtime without pay during the holiday season are the actual Scrooges, not people who just don't like Christmas for one reason or another.
kinda ableist when people tell you to kill yourself in asks and replies and they just assume you know how to do that. my parents never taught me to kill myself and we didn't have suicide classes at my school so... it's not that simple
Thank you to all the Gen Z'ers who got out and voted. Y'all saved our butts in some crucial elections. We lost SOME ground, but not nearly as much as they expected us to, and considering how mad the 'pubs are? And how heavily they gerrymandered voting maps after stunning losses in 2020? damn, we did good.
We might have to fight a little harder for things but we still stand a chance. I'm proud of y'all.
I've seen a couple people reblog this with comments or tags that amount to, I voted but it felt pointless, my state is so red, and I have three things to say:
1. Girl [gender neutral], I'm in Florida, I get you.
2. Watching "pointless" Georgia flip blue in 2020 added like 15 years to my life and I am gonna keep going on that hope forever
3. Sometimes the point is to flip up both middle fingers and yell FUCK YOU real loud just so they know we're here and we're gonna make it their fuckin problem.
Look at this map. Look at aaaaalllll that gerrymandering that must’ve been involved in getting the 6 Districts in Kentucky to look like THAT.
We snagged one district; we can do it again.
And Kentucky voted NOT TO BAN ABORTION. That’s not nothing! That’s not a bunch of votes that didn’t count, or were useless; those are votes that COUNTED. Democrats lost sixty LESS House seats than was predicted. = O Five states voted to remove the “slavery is (still) allowed as punishment for those convicted of a crime” clauses in their state constitutions.
Governing isn’t an all-or-nothing sprint, it’s a relay-race style marathon. And every step we take gets us closer to our goal. Conservatives have worked for DECADES to get us to this point. Please, please don’t get discouraged because we aren’t able to put everything right in one or two election cycles. Decisions are made by those who show up. Please keep showing up. Please keep using your vote as your means of yelling and flipping off those who would see you subdued*. *Since feasting on them is not currently legal.
Dear kids: sometimes, self-care is ridiculously unsexy. It's cleaning your filthy bathroom after weeks of ignoring it. It's washing your bedsheets and vacuuming your floors. It's forcing yourself to take a shower and brush your teeth. When that temporary motivation strikes, RIDE THAT WAVE as far as you possibly can. It's the kindest thing you can do for yourself sometimes.
feel like this mocking of 2012 cringe tumblr hits different for those of us who were there. to my younger followers: it really was like that.
this month i'm doing a challenge called november, where i try to get through november
when i say “i don’t like drama” what i really mean is “i don’t want to have my own drama.” your drama, on the other hand,
when i was a teenager it felt very revolutionary to be cruel to myself. like some kind of slow passive protest against how much everything hurt. i starved myself of sleep and food and tenderness because it felt right. it felt sharp and angry and radical and i wanted to be those things. adulthood is the realisation that the world is already working to cut into you well before you learn how to do it yourself. caring for yourself and others is the real protest
an interesting development in the uber/lyft strike is how uber/lyft are offering free shit to customers. that should make you, as a customer, support the strike more, since uber/lyft are showing their hand: they can afford to give you free shit and compensate drivers and more but they don’t. Ask yourselves why they wait until now to start trying to buy your loyalty and ask yourself where the resources for this free shit were going before.
