Trying to get better at not feeling guilty about putting myself first. It’s definitely a work in progress though. 😂

It has taken me a very, very long time to realise that there is some serious strength in vulnerability, and that it's okay to talk about how you're feeling shit or to speak up if something makes you uncomfortable. That's what makes you real, and only then can you finally accept and love yourself. 💪
It is not unkind to set boundaries. On the contrary, by being clear and honest about what you are comfortable with creates a space for others to do so, and builds a stronger connection with those around you.
Pawsome day with my boy on a random Munro in Scotland! Originally planned to do a different one, but was convinced to change the plan and ended up completing it in 3 hours. Almost feel as though I haven't hiked at all! 😆
I've also come to realise how important to my mental health getting outdoors is. I recently had my worst-ever mental health episode following lockdown, which really scared the bejeezus out of me and has pushed me to prioritise my wellbeing and get back to doing the things I love.
By the way you are 100% not doomed to be your parents. I was the only child of a single mom, which is like, super extra exposure, and we have so, so little in common. We are not alike, so completely so that I'm constantly freshly surprised by it.
And even if you do share some less-than-great traits with your parents, you can recognize them and work on them. You do not have to make the same mistakes as your parents. You are capable of growth and doing better than your parents did.
Plus you might end up similar but in ways that aren’t bad when filtered through a completely different value system.
Like being a really loud and over-the-top person sucks when you’re abusing cashiers to try and get freebies or screaming obscenities at your neighbors, but is great when you’re at a protest rally to try and repeal anti-abortion laws and you need to project your voice.
You’re not doomed to be your parents and you can work on getting rid of any habits you inherited, but you can repurpose the crap they gave you too.
That too!

Looking back on old posts (who doesn’t love nostalgia?) and found this. So weird that I’m now finished my course and on track to becoming a fully-fledged paramedic! 🚑
Just goes to show that if you put your focus and effort into something, good things will happen!
Whenever I think about the climate crisis. 🌍😂
if it’s meant for me, I will have it. if it isn’t, I’m prepared to receive something even better.
