Laurel Argent is 17 years old, she is brand new to the academy, is a daughter of Hecate, and she looks a lot like Emma Watson.
"And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming,
Or the moment of truth in their eyes.
When everything feels like the movies,
You bleed just to know you're alive."

Growing up, Laurel Argent led a decent life despite not knowing the identity of her biological mother. She had her father, Lance and her aunt Selene to thank for that as they were the ones who player a crucial role in her upbringing, shaping and moulding her personality and character as best they could to make up for the absence of her real mother. Due to her aunt Selene being such a motherly figure and role model for we in her life, Laurel never expended much curiosity in the subject of her mother. She didnât believe much in living in the past when there was so much to live for in the present. Much of Laurelâs life was as such: her father would take care of her, and do the best he could to uphold the roles of two parents and her aunt Selene would visit them every weekend.
The attacks began when Laurel was only thirteen. At first, she was under the impression that was just her imagination playing tricks on her, duping her into believing that something was stalking her every move, especially when she was alone. When her uneasiness grew to be less sparse and more intense, she confided in her aunt Selene who eventually consulted Laurelâs father about it. Lance Argent was immensely disturbed by the news and decided that as Laurelâs father, the responsibility of protecting her fell to him. In order to waylay the monster encounters that were growing to be increasingly recurring, Lance had moved Laurel from town to town in efforts to evade these creatures that somehow managed to pursue them still. Eventually, Laurel grew tired of constant relocation as it disrupted far too many aspects of her life and Lance took to studying the nature of the enemy. During his free time between being a veterinarian, Lance thumbed through arcane tomes and publications regarding the Grecian Mythology. There was much, he realized, of his previous partnerâs world that she had failed to elaborate on. For example, the numerous and various species of monsters that would come for their daughter once her âscentâ was strong enough to be detected by them. Driven by tenacity and determination to protect his next of kin, Lance familiarized himself with the weak spots and shortcomings of the Grecian predators. The day the monsters chose to divert from simply stalking and analyzing Laurelâs demigod abilities from afar to actually inflicting injuries upon her was the day Lance Argent was pushed over the edge. All throughout his voluntary research an studies of Grecian monsters, Selene had remained by her brotherâs side, also intending to protect her favourite niece. When Laurel came home maimed in her right side, with bruises on her arms, Lance and Selene made a critical decision. Alongside each other, Lance and Selene trained Laurel in the art of defence in any which way they felt qualified to. It was then, also, that Selene chose to reveal that she was infant the Satyress assigned to bring Laurel to camp but couldnât bear to tear her away from Lance, as the two only had each other to count on for family.
As the days passed, Laurel was diligent in her training mostly instructed by her aunt Selene as her father invested his time in further learning of the monsters they were to face. Her consistency and persistence were enhanced by the thought of having to move to a place called Olympus Academy especially designated for people of her likes. While the idea of socializing and interacting with people who were demigods like herself, the idea and prospect of being able to continue on living with her father and aunt far better suited Laurel and she fought to keep it that way. Laurelâs lifestyle had proven to be successful albeit with a few scrapes by peril, up until she was seventeen years old. Her scent had gotten much stronger and significant by now and more Grecian monsters were out for demigod blood. Laurel, Lance and Selene fought bravely with courage and chivalry against the Laistrygonians and Minotaurs that showed up disguised as lacrosse players and mascots respectively at lacrosse finals at Laurelâs school. The battle took place the second the game had ended and in the fray, Laurel had lost the most precious person in her life, her father Lance Argent. Her aunt Selene, whom was also her protector had endeavoured to get Laurel to Olympus Academyâs borders, but perished not too far away from the Academy itself. Laurel was reluctantly carried to within the Academyâs protective borders as she was out unconscious during the battle in which she refused to step down.
Now Laurel resides at the Academy, a shade of what she used to be. She hardly participates in the Academyâs events, sometimes not even bothering to eat. A certain sense of darkness was born from her grief and loss. A darkness that is quickly evolving and if not impeded, efficiently and effectively, will consume her being and erase any previous decency and normality within her. A voice in her mind, tucked far behind by her worries and thoughts of her bereavement, reminds her painstakingly that life has to go on and that somehow she will and has to get through this trying, taxing and dire phase in her life. Not really intending to, she ignored it, questioning the stability and permanence or everything around her; questioning the purpose of her now that she stood alone. Laurel metaphorically visualizes the barrier ahead of her, foreboding and unwavering. She still fights the demons of the past in her head and wonders if she will ever take the first step towards breaking down that barrier that stands in between her and the time to come.
Laurel Argent is tenacious and driven young lady. Since enduring the hardship that she has, Laurelâs view on what the ideal lady should be. She does not believe much in being dainty and delicate constituting a proper woman figure. With all that Laurel has had to endure, and having her aunt Selene be her role model, Laurel has learned the hard way that every member of mankind, at some point or another, will be forced to fend for themselves and they must make the right decisions when handling such a situation. Laurelâs tough and yet compassionate; loyal and pragmatic when need be. The scarce gaps during which Laurelâs minds fails to force her to relive the nightmares of her past, sheâs nigh decent and approachable. Otherwise, sheâs hostile and distant.
Laurel is usually found cooped up in her House, especially when it is vacant. Besides her House, Laurel endeavours to seek solace in solitary places wherever it may be. Whether it would be deep in the forests or at the Arena, sparring with dummies, knowing that she can be relentless and not hurt anyone in the process. Her combat expertise lie in the area of archery, however, as per taught by her aunt Selene. Laurel is also fond of rock-climbing at the Academy. She relishes the challenge and admires the art for indirectly teaching one the lesson of trusting oneâs self to achieve personal goals. Laurelâs often temperamental. She hasnât always been this way. Her ephemeral emotions are a result of her loss and part of her grief.
