From NYIKO's Kickstarter Launch Party at BCA / 11.1

Nyiko

Back in August, I took some promotional photos for NYIKO's Kickstarter campaign. His project is the release of a vinyl EP, as well as an art book comprised of pieces inspired by the new songs. This shoot was a blast, and the photos that resulted are what I would consider a perfect representation of Nyiko's personality. 

A fun side note about the shoot: the fish was photographed in its transport bag and retouched into the glass so that it would be safe. At one point during the shoot, I brought it over to Nyiko and noticed about a dozen little orange specks in the bag; she gave birth!!!

Nyiko's music is super catchy and the new songs showcase an interesting fusion of early 2000's pop sensibilities via bands like Death Cab for Cutie, 80's electronic dance tracks drawing influence from the likes of New Order, and even some proto-punk overtones reminiscent of The Clash.
