( cis woman | she/her | simay barlas ) ââ isnât that APOLLINA âLĂNAâ LAURENT (DELACOUR)? yeah that is them, outside the three broomsticks! they used to be go to BEAUXBATONS but apparently they now work as a BALLET DANCER at THE ROYAL OPERA & BALLET. sybill once said that they reminded her of white roses, pink satin sheets, working past the point of exhaustion, and letters sprayed with perfume, which seems about right. anyway iâve heard theyâre still a bit COMPETITIVE, ANALYTICAL, and LOVING, theyâre TWENTY-THREE now but some things never change! i wonder how being a HALF-VEELA is affecting them after school, especially now theyâre NEUTRAL? i guess only time will tell⊠ââ [ alek ]
history:
emre laurent owned a bookstore in paris, delia ayden was a teacher at a small wizarding preschool that asked for help organising their library. it was real damn cute, true love story right there
they had three children, named after minor characters in their favourite books-- officially, though none went by those names
she grew up in a flat above her fatherâs bookstore, somewhat lonely apart from her siblings and her books. shy and kept out of muggle areas.
so her parents put her in dance classes, trying to get her out of her shell a bit, and it mostly worked!Â
starts beauxbatons knowing a few girls thatâll be in her year, one sister already there, does pretty well socially and moderately academically
graduates, still dancing, enters a company as an apprentice and works her way up. living at home, saving money.
reconnects with jacques delacour, the ~really cool~ guy two years above her in school, when he comes into her fatherâs bookstore
a few months later, she moves into his apartment. itâs casual, halfway between a friendship and relationship. lena falls for him anyways.
then a few years later heâs got to move to britain for work, asks what it would take for her to move with him. she says a ring, a puppy, and a job for her in britain-- as a joke, expecting it to be the end of things.
she gets a ring, a puppy, and a job with the royal opera & ballet in london.Â
unfortunately the ring means sheâs got to meet jacqâs family-- half of whom hate her. unclear if itâs the lack of family money, the halfblood father, the veela mother, her job as a dancer, or just because jacqâs step mother is downright evil
been in the uk barely a couple months, wondering if itâd be too dramatic to fake her death to get out
âabout as absent minded as i am, iâd imagine. just, yâknow, a little smaller.â
âItâs an advantage to be closer to their size, really. You should see my dad try to sit at the preschool tables-- itâs like a giant playing chess. I fit, just about.â
â    with  her  ?    itâs  always  worth  it  .  if  she  wants  to  win  anything  ,  claim  any  victory  then  iâll  make  sure  itâs  a  hard  fought  one  â
âOkay, fair enough, but... When I have kids, you wonât be meeting them until you promise not to turn them against me.â
âwho meant for you to be home an hour ago? not me,â jean-luc, answered, laughing. âhonestly, whatâs the fuss? do you need to be home, or do you just not want to be here anymore?â
â    âđąâ  ?  đâ  â    just   leave  it .  donât worry .  i have to go  shower  after this anyways .  iâm probably  full  of nonesense .  â
â    i  never  said  i  had  ,    just  that  was  what  chĂšre  douce  maman  was  claiming    â
âWell, thatâs... I guess it depends on if you think itâs a battle worth picking, then. Canât take all of them, and parents have a way of making themselves right whether or not they actually are.â
âNot even any fires? Mierda, how the fuck do they know theyâre alive? No wonder everyoneâs out here smoking bachita without a care in the world. Donât know enough snow to miss that. You French? You sound like one of those fancy ambassadors back home.â
merlin,  mary-jane  hated  the  french,  but  entertaining  the  likes  of  the  other  was  much  easier  when  she  had  a  drink  in  her  hand.  but  while  the  rim  of  her  glass  nearly  met  her  lips  again,  she  froze,  her  gaze  shifting  entirely  as  her  face  grew  into  stone.  what  did  she  just  say  ?  â  you  must  be  mistaken,  the  delacours  are  in  france.  they  stay  in  france.  â  theyâd  better.
Theyâd already sent several long-distance birds (sea birds mostly, Britain and their owls, Dajo would never understand) hope to beg for seasonings and spices. Now they were considering begging for some nice blankets or something. No matter how many layers they put on Dajo felt cold. And it hadnât even rained yet! What sort of August was this?
âPlease tell me itâs gonna get warmer than this,â they begged the person standing nearby. âIt surely has to get warmer.â
