to any witch that uses incense in their practice:
is there a reason only white sage incense exists? i've always heard it was endangered (though i read a few articles that said it wasn't) so i looked for regular sage but all i can ever find is white.
there's a bunch more scents than white sage! :) basically whatever you can think of. i'm a big fan of orange scented ones and myrrh
i don't know if regular sage incense is a thing but you can always get a plant, dry up the leaves and burn them yourself :)) (or buy dried sage, you should be able to find it in any grocery store)
i've done this in the past, just recently felt like trying incense. :) i was just wondering if regular sage incense exists because i didn't want to get white sage. thank you nonetheless. <3

If you can think of it, chances are, it exists. I have a whole pile of different flowers scented incense sticks in my drawer right now, along with a collection of fall theme scented incense cones.
oh i think i worded this wrong lol. i want sage incense but only found white sage and was wondering if there is regular one. sorryyy.

I HIGHLY recommend this book for spirit workers or anyone interested in spirit work!
Here's a few things that the author goes over
Working with local spirits (water spirits, spirits of trees, etc)
Methods of talking to spirits
Spiritual dreams
Manifestation
Prayers and spells
Respecting spirits while also maintaining authority over them
Those are just some of the things I read so far, and I'm only halfway through!
I much enjoyed this one, too!
Quick home cleansing/protection spray!
I just moved in with my smoke sensitive boyfriend, so I had to store my eucalyptus smoke stick for now and come up with another way to cleanse and protect our new place. A spray doesn’t effect anyone, it’s quicker than a smoke stick is, and bonus points for smelling like cinnamon :) Lets get started !!
1) Gather your ingredients
I personally used:
-1 cinnamon stick
-3 bay leaves
-a couple pinches of rosemary
-some sea salt
-sage(homegrown and harvested in personal garden, not used for smoke cleansing)
-a couple lemon slices
-sea water
-rain water
All these ingredients have correlations with both cleansing and protecting, so I choose these, but you can pick which herbs you want to toss in there to modify the spray to your own liking! But no matter what herbs you choose, you will need these items:
-a small pot
-a pot cover
-stirring spoon
-something to strain out the herbs
-a cleansed spray bottle
-paint or marker
2)choose your sigil!
I chose this simple and lovely sigil to cleanse and protect made by @kore-amore ! You can choose any sigil you like to modify the spray how you want.
3) Get brewin
We have everything picked and laid out, now it’s time to grab your pot, pour the water and herbs into it, and set it to medium heat
Once it gets to a boil, I like to stir it counter clockwise and think about the negative things the spray will cleanse, and then stir clockwise thinking about the positive protection the spray will bring. After a few minutes of stirring, cover the top with your lid, set it to low heat, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or however long it takes till the water is potent in smell(most of the time, depending on which herbs you use, the water will also turn a different color, mine turned yellow, as seen below)
Here we have a finished brew!
4) Strain and pour
Once your brew has cooled down a bit, strain out the herbs and pour into your spray bottle!
5) Paint your sigil
I used the sigil I chose earlier and painted it on with black paint(once again, credit to @kore-amore for this lovely sigil), but you can choose any sigil or paint color you like! Just be sure to think hard about the intent of the sigil you are painting, as the sigil itself only does half the work, and the other is your own magik :)
6) Start sprayin!
Spray wherever you need some cleansing or protecting! My recipe smells like cinnamon with hints of the other herbs so it leaves quite the lovely smell for a short time afterwards! I love this spray, as someone who’s very busy, has a smoke sensitive boyfriend, and needed something very in tune witchy to do :) I hope you enjoy!!
a spell to attract other witches
this spell is for the solitary witch; it creates an aura around you that attracts witches, as well as hones your psychic mind to find witches when you’re out and about. best done during a full moon. you will need:
✦ a small pouch or bag
✦ a bell
✦ st. john’s wort (protection against evil magic, clairvoyance, general magic)
✦ sugar (good energy, attraction, summoning)
✦ cloves (gaining what is sought, energy)
1. after casting your circle, turn to the four corners/directions of your magick space and ring the bell to announce yourself and call the attention of the energy around you.
2. hold the cloves in your hands. inhale their scent and meditate for a moment about the power of your own witchcraft, and imagine it projecting further and further out, making it noticeable to witches who are perceptive to energies. as you do this, the cloves will help carry that energy for you. place some of the cloves in the pouch and set the rest aside.
3. hold a bit of st. john’s wort in your hands and hone in on your own clairvoyance and intuition. whisper to the st. john’s wort that you wish to strengthen your perception of other witches. place some in the pouch and set the rest aside.
4. to complete the ritual, sprinkle some sugar onto your tongue to bring good energy and summon what you seek from the spell. sprinkle the rest of the cloves and st. john’s wort outside your house, and carry the pouch with you.
PROTECTION SPELL BOTTLE
a simple spell bottle to protect yourself mentally, physically and spiritually
WHAT YOU NEED :
salt - protection, purification
cinnamon - protection, speeds up spells, courage
rosemary - protection, purification
chilli flakes - ward of unwanted energies
bay - protection against hexes and curses
basil- peace, protection, drive away evil
ginger - make spells more powerful, protection
black pepper - protection
oak leaves- protection, wisdom
egg shells - protection
lavender - peace, healing, protection
sage (please don’t use white sage) - protection, purification
paper
pen
spell bottle jar
candles : i used a white one and the also the wax from my deity candles on my alter
WHAT TO DO:
as always, ground yourself and cast a circle in the way you prefer
light all your candles, you can also light some insence if you’d like
in no particular order, add all your herbs into the jar (using a funnel - even if you make one from paper, can be really helpful), focussing on intent
create a sigil with the intent of protection using your own words and method. draw it on a small slip of paper, fold and add to the jar.
speak affirmations into the jar focusing on the protection of yourself ( or whoever will be wearing this). You can also repeat the statement used for the sigil
put the lid on and place the jar on something you can pour the candle wax onto.
pour all the candle wax onto your spell jar, allowing it to run down the sides and even create a pool at the bottom
allow the candle wax to mainly dry and remove the bottle. it is now done. i like to put the left lever wax that’s not attached on a wax melt thingy and melt it for further protection
I hope this will help some of you! As always, change herbs or add herbs to your preferences or what you have available. Blessed be 💗 (leave any questions below as well x)
Classic Tea Leaf Reading
I wanted to share my favorite way to read tea leaves. I used to do this specific one with my “atheist” friend who always wanted to do them. It is time consuming but very fun! Tea leaf readings is a form of future telling. The purpose of this is to read your future according to whatever question you may have. These readings are like Tarot in a way where there is so much packed into one reading, that it is hard to answer with a yes or a no. You will see symbols, numbers, letters, and lots of different shapes which you can easily find the meaning of online.
🌟WHAT YOU NEED:🌟
-Tea (black tea is great for these readings because the leaves do not all float to the top)
-Tea cup or mug with a handle
-A saucer or bowl
-Pen and paper
🌟INSTRUCTIONS:🌟 ☕️Brew your tea. I like to break my tea bag just a little bit to get some tea leaves out. You don’t need to break the whole bag, or you will be practically eating tea
☕️Hold your cup in your non dominant hand. Without a spoon, move the cup to make the water spin clockwise. The number of stirs you do has to do with how old you are. For example, I will stir the tea in my hand 25 times because I am 25 years old. Then, make sure to do the exact same thing with the opposite hand, for the exact same number. Try very hard to not switch hands mid way, or you have to start over.
☕️After you have stirred your tea in each hand, it is time to sip. Doing this in the dark is preferable, but you can use a blindfold to block out any light. Make sure it is very quiet, or you can play calming music. Sip your tea with your non dominant hand ONLY. Close your eyes and imagine what you want answered in the cup the entire time you are sipping. Do not gulp the tea as to make sure you don’t drink the tea leaves. This can take focus, but time goes by faster once you really get into it.
☕️When your are just about to finish your tea, take your dominant hand and quickly turn the cup over your saucer or bowl. You don’t want to drink all of the water, or the reading won’t work.
✨How to read your tea leaves✨
☕️Inside your cup, turn the handle 12:00. Then, read the small symbols you find in your cup clockwise. The order is very important because it can tell you a story.
☕️Write down any shapes, letters, numbers, or symbols you see. When you have written everything down, look up what certain symbols mean.
☕️After writing down the meaning of the symbols you found in your cup, you can start to pick apart what they mean and how they correlate with the other symbols.
And you are done with your tea leaf reading!

this may be an Unpopular Opinion (even on tumblr) but like the 8-hour workday is just Too Gotdamn Long
like even sitting in an office for eight hours a day isn’t particularly pleasant (or healthy, as we are beginning to see) but when we’re talking about doing *actual work* for that same amount time it gets pretty fucking brutal
doing literally *anything* (even leisure activities) for eight hours straight tends to be less than enjoyable but when we’re talking about things like construction, landscaping, factory work, and hell, even foodservice and retail, eight hours is a fucking ETERNITY
i might just be a lazy weak-willed bitch but honestly i think i’m not entirely wrong
this was being worked towards by leftist labor unions way back in the day after the time of FDRs new deal. people in the 40s and 50s were already starting to realize that we no longer actually needed an 8 hour work day or even a 5 day work week.
even with the comparatively primitive factory tech of the time we were already creating a huge amount of excess production back then and companies were making massive amounts of profit. So it already stood to reason that companies should either let their employees work less and thus each employee could work a shorter shift without lowering the yearly compensation of each employee, or in cases where businesses provide an active service they would shorten the shift but hire more people to cover the necessary operating time. but of course that would mean less money for people at the top so companies fought back hard and we ended up with nixon’s bullshit and so on and now its considered the norm for us to spend the vast majority of our lives doing work that really just amounts to waste.
The IWW realised this and were fighting for it all the way back in the 1930s. This is a take with a lot of historical and theoretical grounding, OP, so you’re standing in good stead.
I’d also like to add it’s also been studied and scientifically proven that after 6 hours, we have an extremely noticeable drop in productivity. Sweden saw nothing but benefits from a 6-hour work day, including worker productivity, happiness, and half the amount of sick-leave used when applied to nurses.
https://onlinemasters.ohio.edu/the-six-hour-workday/
Just gonna add that the IWW is still kicking and basically anyone who is not an employer can join.
People with hiring and firing power can still join, you just won’t be allowed to vote on motions!!
The more people that join, the more power the union has!
“My Heart Heals”
Keep this sigil under your mattress. Most healing happens during sleep. This sigil will help aid in the healing of your heart over time. You could also carry it around with you if you wanted to.
