Well in Japan gay marriage still isn't legal, so a way people get around that it's by adopting them. We saw an example of this earlier in this manga even!

I cant really decide for myself yet whether Souchi has come to accept his feelings quite yet or if he has simply accepted Morinagas and "plays along" but that scene is so !!!!!! Id been a little irritated previously with him pushing for morinaga to talk to his parents again but I can definitely understand why with his views on family and I think this really ties it all together so nicely. There is no reservation about making Morinaga part of his family in whatever way that is (with romantic intent or not) because he does truly care for him and aughhhhh

He accepted his feelings about Morinaga at the end of volume 8. That's when he told him he wasn't running away anymore. They've been in a relationship since then.
People are always confused about his feelings because he's a tsundere and can never be direct about it while also just absolutely refusing to acknowledge it to anyone besides himself and Morinaga, but he's in that relationship lol
Even before that he was with him because he had feelings for him he was just in denial about it lol
But yes! Souichi is big about family and he's talking to Morinaga's mom because he's seen how his relationship with his parents has affected him. And Morinaga said he wanted to try, so Souichi's trying to help him find a solution by using his own experience to reason with her and tell her exactly what her actions will lead to.
I just realized something. If Souichi does take in Morinaga, then he has to start calling him by his first name! That would be amazing! Morinaga wanted that for such a long time.

It is not really possible to keep it private. It would change his legal name and he would have to change his name on everything. He would have to report it to his company, and unless he's able to make some sort of agreement with HR to not tell everyone he changed his name, everyone would know. And if they're going through all the trouble to legally adopt him, why hide it I guess... he wouldn't want to keep using "Morinaga" after that I'm sure.
Having said that, it's not automatically outing them as gay. They can make up whatever excuse they want about him adopting him. He can just say Morinaga's parents disowned him so he adopted him. Adoption would legally take him off his family's koseki(a birth, death, and marriage certificate all in one) and add him to Souichi's. They'd legally be father and son lol
But people would probably suspect when it goes that far... The Tatsumis aren't a big rich family, they don't own a big business, they aren't far in age so it's not like it would be helping anybody inherit anything..... the only logical explanation would be they just have a close relationship.... some could assume it's romantic.
Hi, I just wanted to thank you. I’m autistic and reading between the lines when it comes to The Tyrant Fall in Love and how Souichi accepts Mori and is in an established relationship with him by volume 9 has helped me change my view of their relationship. It was really hard for me because he never outright says it and so I was constantly reading it with this sort of “it's up in the air still” mentality, which really fucked with me. But now I understand that he is just Like That because he is based on a trope, and that he is also a HUGE liar who lies — to himself, to others — and that he’s super in love with Mori and is also most likely demi. It really made me view the whole manga through a completely new lens, and now as I am re-reading it I am enjoying it a lot more.
One thing I want to ask you is, what is your personal favorite moment where Souichi interacts with his own feelings (Like, a realization, an acceptance, a change of heart, etc etc.) and if you have any commentary/analysis of said scene? I really enjoy reading what you have to say.

It can be hard to understand characters when they lie, especially when you're missing the cultural context of the tropes and phrases they use in Japan to convey things. I try my best to explain and translate in ways that get these ideas across but sometimes I think back on translations I've made and wonder if I actually accomplished that lol
So it's nice to be assured that I've at least help you understand some parts of it better!
I have so many parts of this story I could go on about lol.... It's hard to chose just one scene.... I'm going to go with volume 4 in general. I've skipped over vol 4 when I've talked about the series before on here, and that's honestly a shame because I feel like it's him being more straightforward with his emotions than normal, but because of all the extenuating circumstances it's not him being his usual self at all.
So, volume 4 starts have Souichi pissing off an otaku by breaking his phone, but more importantly, breaking his limited edition anime figure!!
This causes the otaku to stalk and harass him for this.
I know the current translation online doesn't make that part clear...
I know I've always said that volume 3 was the volume that was translated the worst, but some people have made the argument that 4 is the worst... so fair enough I guess lol

After several incidents happen, Morinaga convinces Souichi to let him move into the house by telling him that he cares about him and is worried about him... and throwing in that he can help protect Kanako too as an excuse. I really feel like the kabedon is important in here too lol
And then! When Morinaga gets hurt by the stalker, Souichi lets the facade slip. He tells Morinaga that that he's important to him! As soon as he sees Morinaga's face he knows he said more than he wanted to. He tries to press forward, telling him he'd be getting in the way if he can't protect himself but Morinaga is only hearing that he's important lol
Morinaga tells him he doesn't want to leave for the same reasons... and look at this yearning!! Look at his face when he says he doesn't want Morinaga to get hurt!
and then he uses that injury to run away lol (ouch!)
He uses the excuse that Kanako is there, but when Morinaga asks if it would have been fine if Kanako wasn't there, he just says "I don't know"
"I don't know"!? wtf do you mean "I don't know"!?!?!?! Wouldn't you normally just say no?? lol (That's just him avoiding)
And then the fire happens. While Morinaga is in the burning house, thinking that he's being abandoned and going to die because no one would willingly come into a burning building, Souichi is freaking out. He instantly runs in there and starts crying and yelling at him that he told him to get out because he didn't want anything to happen to him.
He's definitely crying. It's not just the water. (He's lying. Avoiding. That's an excuse lol)
Later at the hotel, Morinaga is thinking that if they were in a relationship then he would be able to kiss him and they could have sex to comfort him but that he can't take advantage of Souichi when he's vulnerable.... but that's actually what Souichi wanted!!
He's literally pulling him down on top on himself meanwhile Morinaga is trying to be a respectable person for once and not take advantage of him in a vulnerable situation. Trying to tell Souichi him he's just trying to be comforting and would hug any normal friend if they were going through something like this!
Souichi is NOT amused
He's pouting…. he's literally pouting because Morinaga is saying he doesn't want to have sex with him and that he'd do this for anybody.
Eventually he gets frustrated by him just pressing up against him and not doing anything he ends up just kissing him himself and Morinaga is shocked.
and what I think is probably the most important interaction here, he nuzzles his injured arm because he's upset he got hurt. You can tell he is really affected by Morinaga being hurt. That he was scared Morinaga was going to die.
Souichi tries to act like like nothing happened after this but he was pretty thoroughly exposed this time. Just ignore it. Nothing to see here.
When Morinaga convinces him to move into an apartment with him, he convinces Souichi by telling him he would feel lonely now that he's been experiencing family life! Souichi, how is that a logical reason to move in with someone?? "Oh no! He'd feel lonely! Can't have that!" But that was Morinaga providing him an excuse. It's not because Souichi would like to live with him, it's because Morinaga would feel lonely living by himself.
And then in the extra, we're shown that after they had sex, Souichi wakes up and freaks out because he knows what he did and he's very disturbed because he wants to find an excuse for it an can't lol
Somehow it's Morinaga's fault and he didn't start it. Yes.
Volume 4 is a huge show if how much Souichi cares about Morinaga and an example of him actually coming on to Morinaga first! (Morinaga event points it out at one point but I'm out of screenshots I got to cut somewhere... I would post so many more pictures if tumblr would let me. They're so mean.)
So Takanaga caught a cold this month while she was working on the chapter and wasn't able to finish the whole chapter so we still have another chapter in this volume coming next month!! Even still, she wrote 20 pages so it's not even that short.
But on to the spoilers
After Souichi said he'd take Morinaga, Morinaga's mom gets offended and says that he's her son and he can't just say that. Souichi is angry now though and he tells her that they've had years to decide what they were going to do and they need to either cut him off or accept him already.
Morinaga steps in and stops their flight and Souichi is shocked he's there and tells him he's banned from eavesdropping because he keeps overhearing his conversations.
Morinaga's mom is upset still and asks why an outsider is talking to her like this and Morinaga tells her that Souichi always tries to understand him and he has a fowl mouth but he's really kind so she should consider what he said.
Morinaga's mom decides to go back to Fukuoka tonight to talk to her husband instead of spending the night and rushes out to catch the last train but the Tatsumis make sure to give her food first lol
Ok their way to the train morinaga's mom finally asks if Souichi and Morinaga are dating and Souichi insists they absolutely are not but she says that if they were she would accept it. So Souichi is confusedly happy?? But still insisting they're not lol
Morinaga prompts her to go before the train leaves but tells her he can't give her grand children but he can be her son.
