Police Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr Was shot dead during a traffic stop at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday Tarentino joined the Auburn Police Department two years ago from the Leicester, Mass., department, Auburn Police Chief Andrew Sluckis said. Tarentino leaves behind a wife and three children

It is with a heavy heart that the Columbus Division of Police reports the passing of our dearly beloved brother, Officer Steven M. Smith #1386. Officer Smith passed away on April 12, 2016 at 4:56 PM surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Lisa Smith, and two adult children, son Jesse and daughter Brittany. The 27-year-veteran held positions in the Patrol Bureau, Strategic Response Bureau, Helicopter Unit, Narcotics Bureau, S.W.A.T. Unit and was a member of the Dive Team. Officer Smith is the 54th Columbus police officer killed in the line of duty since 1816. He is the 31st officer killed in the line of duty in the United States in 2016. Officer Smith's legacy will live on through organ donation. His donation could save up to eight lives. He was 54 years old.
Officer Allen Jacobs was 28-years-old, married and the father of two young boys. His wife is pregnant with the couple's daughter, due to be born in July. Prior to joining the GPD, he served in the United States Army. He was a decorated Iraq war veteran. Officer Jacobs joined the GPD in August 2011, and in August 2015, was promoted to the rank of Police Officer III. In addition to serving on the Community Response Team, he was also a member of the S.W.A.T. team.
Police Officer Jacai Colson
Police Officer Jacai Colson or the Prince George’s County Police Department, Maryland, was shot and killed on the 13th of March 2016. The Officer was responding to reports of shots fired at the Departments 3rd Precinct, several officers engaged in a gun fight with the suspects, a suspect and Officer Jacai were injured. The second suspect was arrested at a fast food restaurant. Officer Jacai passed away at hospital.
From the ODMP-” Police Officer Jacai Colson was shot and killed from ambush at the Prince George’s County Police Department’s District III police station at 7600 Barlowe Road. At approximately 4:30 pm two men fired shots at the police station in an attempt to lure officers outside. Responding officers, including Officer Colson, exchanged shots with one of the men. Officer Colson and one of the subjects were shot. They were both transported to a local hospital where Officer Colson died. The second subject was arrested in a nearby fast food restaurant.”

Police Officer Scot Fitzgerald
Police Officer Scot Fitzgerald of the South Jacksonville Police Department, Illinois, passed away on the 4th of March 2016. The officer had been responding to a medical call with an ambulance when he attempted to perform a U turn. This put him in the ambulances path causing a crash, three EMT’s were transported to hospital as well as the officer. The officer later passed away.
From the ODMP-”Police Officer Scot Fitzgerald was killed when his patrol car and an ambulance collided while en route to a medical call shortly before 9:00 pm. The ambulance was driving behind his patrol on Route 267, approximately one mile north of Nortonville Road, as they attempted to locate the address for the call. Officer Fitzgerald pulled to the right shoulder and then attempted to make a U-turn, but inadvertently pulled into the path of the ambulance.”

The Euless Police Department officer has been named. From the Euless, Texas Police Department page-
Today, at approximately 2:47 p.m. Euless Police Officer David S. Hofer responded to a suspicious persons and possible gun shots being fired at J.A. Carr Park in Euless. On approach he encountered gunfire. Officer Hofer was struck and other responding Euless officers returned fire, striking the suspect.
Virginia cornerback Maurice Canady honored a slain police officer on Monday at the NFL combine.
Last Friday, Officer Ashley Guindon was sworn in as the newest member of the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia. On Saturday, Guindon was shot and killed on her first day on the job.
Canady paid tribute to Guindon in Indianapolis with "Officer Guindon 2/27/16 Never Forget" written on the cleats he wore to run the 40-yard dash. He told the NFL Network he will auction off the shoes and give the money to a memorial fund established for Guindon's family.
