The ridicule for trauma survivors enjoying life after surviving is so ridiculous??

People saying it didn’t happen because they smile in pictures or laugh on Snapchat?

I see this all the time. Like who the fuck are y’all to judge how someone copes or heals?

Trauma is only believed by people (especially men) if the victim remains a victim to said trauma.

They don’t want to see rape victims leading sexually liberating lives.

They don’t want to see abuse victims thriving in healthy relationships.

They just want to see the suffering.

If the victims aren’t suffering or don’t seem “distraught” for the rest of their lives, then according to them these victims aren’t really traumatized and “faking for attention”.

Men don’t even believe victims who do remain visibly effected by their trauma. They still find a way to twist, and jump through hoops to blame the victim instead of the victimizer.

So the sad truth is, even if survivors weren’t out in the world enjoying their lives, it really wouldn’t change how society would still find a way to ridicule them.
