I thought it would be easier to make a sideblog for this to keep everything in one place. (main blog: oblong-goblin). Basically I'm attempting to translate the old LazyTown books into English, despite knowing very little Icelandic. I did this for my own entertainment & decided to share it. If it's not good, please be nice.
Just in case anyone hasn’t seen them yet, I’ve made an attempt at translating the original Icelandic LazyTown books from the 90′s into English. I’ve been working on them for a while, but I’ve recently completed all three! Please check them out if you’re interested, you can read them here:

That's pretty much what I used when I did my translations.
I started this on a total whim, but I'm so happy I did because it was a lot of fun to work on!
There's something about 90's animation cells/book art that I just love, specifically that certain texture and color contrast that comes as a result of the scanning process. Of course, this is also inspired by Halldór Baldursson's art style — I love his inking style, and the way he pushes the shapes of a character.
I'm also just a sucker for these guys :] Eðvarð and Peggí have my heart.

Nenni Níski Vill Eiga Allt (Nenni Níski Wants to Own Everything)
Here it is finally; the last latibaer picture book translation I have for you. Hope you like it :)
Nenni Níski arrives at the playground and sees how much fun everyone is having. He immediately wants to own all of the playthings.
"I own ALL of this! -- I own these cars. -- I own this bucket. -- I own this sand."
Nenni has taken possession of all the toys: the shovel, the car, the ball, the kite, everything.
Now most of the fun should have been with him, but Nenni has to guard the toys so closely that he can't play with them. And - where is everyone going?
Everyone is going to Solla Stirða's birthday party.
Except Nenni Níski, no one invited him. Everyone thought that he wouldn't be bothered to come or would take everything from everyone.
Nenni Níski starts to sob. He doesn't want to be left out and miss the birthday party. (But he still can't bear to think about having to give something himself).
What Nenni doesn't know is that Íþróttaálfurinn had been watching everything and he now leaps forth unexpectedly.
"To make others happy, you have to share what's yours with them. Not just on birthdays, but every day. To make others happy, you have to let them play with your toys and give wholeheartedly.
You may give Solla my package, then it's from both of us."
Although Nenni dearly wants to tear open the package himself, he would rather see how happy Solla will be to see the gift from him and Íþróttaálfurinn.
It's a lot of fun at the birthday party. When Nenni stops trying to own everything, he is a very fun boy. Everyone is happy to have him in the games. Most of all Nenni himself.

There's supposed to be a Goggi Mega book as well, but unfortunately I don't have scans for that one. If I ever find any, I'll translate that one as well.

Solla Stirða Nær Ekki í Tærnar (Solla Stirða Can't Reach Her Toes)
Another translation :)
Solla Stirða is so stiff that she can't ever tie her shoes. She always forgets to exercise. She can't join the ball game because she trips over the laces.
She also can't take part in þrautakóngur* because she can't do a somersault. Solla is very sad about this. She never participates in anything. She feels like everything is impossible for her.
But help is closer than Solla thought.
Íþróttaálfurinn had seen how Solla was forgetting to exercise. He jumps out of his balloon and shows Solla Stirða some stretching exercises.
Solla enjoys doing exercises. "Apart, Together, now it's fun," she sings.
All the kids really want to join Solla in the exercises.
Íþróttaálfurinn teaches Solla many exercises. "All kids need to be active regularly, loosen their muscles, and get stronger," says Íþróttaálfurinn. Solla gives it her all.
Finally, after a lot of exercise, she can even touch her toes and tie her own shoes.
Solla is determined to always be diligent with exercising and never lazy.
Íþróttaálfurinn can see from his balloon how flexible Solla has become. He waves happily.

small footnote here:
*þrautakóngur: I couldn't find a direct translation for this, presumably it's some kind of game the kids play, but I couldn't find any gameplay details. 'þraut' means 'trial/difficult test' or 'puzzle', 'kóngur' means 'king'.

Siggi Sæti Bjargar Tönnunum (Siggi Sæti Saves his Teeth)
Another translation, enjoy :)
Siggi Sæti is bored of brushing his teeth. He finds nothing better or more fun than eating sweets. Before he goes to Solla Stirða's birthday party, he decides to make the toothbrush disappear.
When he sees all the sweets at Solla Stirða's party, he immediately forgets all the rules. He gobbles up the goodies.
Siggi Sæti doesn't stop eating until he sees the bottom of the last candy bowl.
But then he becomes so sick to his stomach from all the sugar that he has to go home early from the birthday party. He crawls into his bed and falls asleep with his teeth unbrushed.
Siggi starts to dream about his friends Solla, Halla and Snati the dog.
But when he smiles at them, they are shocked. All of Siggi Sæti's teeth are damaged and full of holes.
Íþróttaálfurinn sees what a bad dream he's having. Siggi is greatly relieved when Íþróttaálfurinn wakes him up. Bit his teeth still hurt. This is called a toothache and is very painful.
"If this dream is to not come true, you must learn to brush your teeth. I will teach you," says Íþróttaálfurinn.
"You must cut back on sugar and instead eat fruit and drink lots of water. When you brush your teeth, put a small amount of toothpaste on the brush and count in your head. Always brush from the gums tent times on the front, ten times on the inside and of course the upper and lower gums equally well. You mustn't eat toothpaste, so you must remember to rinse your mouth with water."
The next time Siggi Sæti meets his friends, he tells them all about how to take care of their teeth so that they will always be shiny, clean and beautiful. He smiles from ear to ear and his friends smile back.

Halla Hrekkjusvín Gengur Laus (Halla Hrekkjusvín On The Loose)

Who is Halla Hrekkjusvín?
What kind of girl is this Halla Hrekkjusvín?
Why does everyone avoid her?
It may not be that the kids are afraid of her. It's just that it's so often unpleasant and bad to meet her. No one wants to have their hair pulled. But that's what Halla is like, she does it anyway.
A cat hates having its tail pulled. Halla does it anyway. You're not allowed to break and damage the lamp posts that light up at night, but Halla still does it.
She scribbles on the bench at the bus stop and tips over the trash can so that the Mayor, who is waiting for the bus, is badly startled.
Íþróttaálfurinn sees as Halla tears down Stína Símalína's laundry.
Íþróttaálfurinn barely manages to stop Halla before she wrecks Nenni Níski's car.
"Why are you damaging everything, pulling pranks, pulling people's hair and hurting animals?"
"No one wants to play with me. I'm so bored."
"They're just afraid of you. You must stop teasing and ask for forgiveness and then the kids will probably want to play with you.
It's never too late to improve yourself and do better than before. People will look up to you and respect you for it.
Remember to clean up the scribbles, and be kind to the animals."
And there was a great change. Halla did much better and she made a lot of friends. She thanked Íþróttaálfurinn, her best friend.
Halla and her new friends waved goodbye.
