The Snatchers hadn’t gone on yet, but the music blaring from the speakers was one Preston knew and liked. He’d only had one drink, but he was feeling a little loose and fun. His Superman cape followed him as he danced around, a wide grin set on his face. “Are you just going to stand there?” he laughed, spotting the person close to him. “Or are you going to make a fool out of yourself with me?”
“ i’ll pass. ” she responds immediately, though not necessarily unkindly. she wasn’t shy, but dancing had never really appealed to her -- or at least, not the dancing going on in the ballroom. it was nothing quite like the parties she was accustomed to on her mother’s side of the family. nonetheless, as she takes a sip of her wine, she offers the other a small smile and says, “ but by all means, continue. it’s good entertainment for awhile. ”
“Oh god-” She ducks her head, turning to the person next to her. The brunette was feeling more comfortable and confident, her shorts showing off her lenghty stems. “I don’t know why it’s always clowns, why do people always have to dress up as clowns?”
“ there’s always going to be something uneasy about clowns, i guess. ” personally, they didn’t bother her quite as much. unnerved her some, maybe, but she’d seen worse in her line of work from supposedly normal individuals. “ that has to be uncomfortable though. all that make up in a sea of all these people ?? no, thank you. ”
Seeing as everyone who was anyone was going to be at St. Vincent’s tonight for the Halloween party, Naomi decided that she would attend. Granted she felt out of place not being somewhere but her club for the night but she was starting to enjoy herself. Not even the thunder that roared outside seemed to damper her mood tonight as she walked around with a whiskey in hand, enjoying the live music. When a laugh rose from her at the sight she found in a room. “People still bob for apples?”
“ time honored tradition. ” she watches someone dunk into the tub of water once more and shakes her head, “ i don’t get it either. that hardly seems sanitary. can you imagine how much saliva must be floating in that water?? ” not to be a killjoy -- she’d stand by it though.
Anna held on to her cape her knuckles turning white from her grip. Her halloween costume looked and felt incredibly tight and nothing what she would actually. She felt a little uncomfortable. “Is it hot in here or is it just me? I feel like they should put a fan on or the ac or something.”
“ i wouldn’t say it’s hot, necessarily. warm because of the people, perhaps. ” she hears the shudder of thunder distantly over the noise in the ballroom and clicks her tongue, “ and the weather certainly has cooled it down outside. maybe they don’t feel it’s needed -- do you need some air or anything?? ”
“I can’t tell you how proud of myself I am for choosing leather boots instead of velvet.” Nikhila boasts confidently as she walks in, unveiling her costume. The woman holding two swords in one hand and her fabulous raincoat in the other. “Not even bad weather can dampen my ensemble. What you have on is nice too.” Nikhila says offhandedly but far more generously than usual. It’s rare but she’s oddly in the Halloween spirit.
“ how kind of you. ” she deadpans, tugging at the uncomfortable, pink ascot around her neck. going as a pink lady from grease was more of a last minute choice, granted; it doesn’t mean she expended any less effort, surprisingly. long days and longer nights, so it goes. “ has the weather gotten worse already?? not much of a party mood if it keeps up, is it?? ”
“Like I had time to start my phone camera while I was running. Get real.” She scoffed playfully.
“ in court, we call that inconclusive evidence. ” she stands with her hands on hips, clicking her tongue in mock disappointment. “ which means the case will be thrown out. better luck next time, maybe. you can always hope. ”
teagan huffed as she hunched over herself, completely out of breath. “ — a definite win for you, darlin’. are you like a cyborg or something ?? that’s like godly sprinting. ” she gave in reply to the girl. “ no apology necessary. i enjoyed voluntarily killing my lungs. ”
“ not quite a cyborg -- ” she thinks of all the similar quips she endured during her sleepless nights in law school before adding, “ well, perhaps the jury is still out on that one, but i’ll let you know when i’m sure. ” a smile graces her face as she stretches her arms behind her back, giving the girl some time to catch her breath. “ i have extra water, if you’d like one. ”
The rush of a good run has novak a little more jovial and generous than usual. He hunches over a little, hands on his thighs, as he tries to catch his breath. “Yeah – I — ” A huff. God, he’s let himself go. “It was fun, for the most part && i needed the work out.”
“ then you’re welcome. ” she responds, with little more than a sharp nod of affirmation afterwards, “ i’ll count it as my good deed for the day. ”
“You cheated,” Adrian insisted as he finished his run, slowing to a stop next to the woman. Cheating was not, in fact, what had caused Adrian to lose this race. It was his sore limbs from his first few trainings after the party, his coach kicking his ass back into gear after a long weekend of partying and just enjoying himself. “I’m always ready for a competition.”
“ i never cheat. ” she corrects, idly wrapping the cord of her headphones around her finger as she arcs a brow at the blonde. “ that would be pointless. ” still, she finds herself smirking, hands tucking into the pockets of her jacket when she shakes her head, “ you didn’t seem as ready for this one. take a break, i presume ?? ”
slowing down to a crawl and sprawling across a stone bench, dexter threw an arm over his eyes to shield them from the sun. “you’re fucking killing me,” he groaned as her shadow covered him. “even though i’m the biggest loser you could have at least given me a chance. i better be getting a participation award for letting you drag me around the park like a dog.”
she arches a brow, hands splayed triumphantly on her hips as she peers down at dexter. well, at least she’s amused. “ a dog would have more oomph for this sort of thing. ” she’s only partially teasing, scoffing out a laugh. “ i’ll buy you some gold stars to commemorate the fact that you survived. ” she pauses, contemplating his form for a second before correcting herself, “ if you do survive, maybe --- would a smoothie be more of an incentive ?? ”
“A win? I want a replay because I was sure my foot stepped over the threshold first.” Elle said hands on her hips, huffing and puffing. She was competitive by nature, after all she did claw her way to the top.
“ did you happen to have a camera going?? ” she prompts, brow raised as she straightens up. an amused smirk paints her face when she adds, “ i’m certain it was my own either way, but there’s no harm in checking. ”
“ think i’ll call that a win for me. ” she’s out of breath, but hides it well enough. the jog, turned sudden race to the end of the track, has her adrenaline pumping, face lifted into a slight ( somewhat smug ) smile. it’s always somehow a competition with her. “ i suppose i should apologize for dragging you into it, but you did seem to go along. ”
Hazel stretched and let out a little noise of annoyance. “I’ll give you ten bucks to scratch my back. But like, a nice long scratch and you can’t have jagged nails. Seriously.” Yes, she was a massage therapist that owned her own spa, but she wasn’t there now and she wasn’t going to deny herself the pleasure of having her back rubbed and scratched if it was a possibility.
“ i’ll pass. there’s a perfectly decent wall corner there to do that for you. ” she arcs a brow, lifting her cup of coffee to her lips as she adds, “ and it’s a free service. congratulations. ”
“Check out these moves,” Aurora laughed, practicing the motions for her big fight scene. She was using a prop sword with no sharp edges, which was a blessing when she caught her hair with it,and she was able to laugh. “Okay, it’s probably a good thing they never actually give me anything sharp.”
“ something tells me you could do near as much damage with just that. ” she takes a small step backwards, barest hint of a slightly exasperated smile on her face.
ayo !! my name’s belle. i don’t really know how much of an intro we’re supposed to do, but -- this is my youngin’ natalia, aka nemesis, and i dunno, if you wanna know a lil bit more about her, it’ll be below the cut.
first and foremost: she has zero memories/knowledge of her past lives
so uh, basics: natalia kapoor, 30 years old. she and her family moved from france when she was younger. she’s multilingual - hindi, french, and english
she love, love, loves her family. she’s the oldest of three ( two brothers and a sister ) and her mother and father remain a large part of her life
they were decently well off growing up, but natalia was always raised humble. she learned how to work for her own money and her own necessities early on and that independence and determination got her through law school
she moved to california when she was 22 for grad school and in the years following graduation made quite the name for herself because of her unwillingness to cooperate with cases or colleagues she didn’t wholeheartedly believe in and the blunt and matter of fact way she stated her own opinions and thoughts
she’s a prosecutor ( surprise, surprise ), but she takes on very specific cases and she can be exceptionally damning and unforgiving when she believes someone is guilty - and she does her homework on that, hence the pickiness
of course, it extends to her private life too -- she can be a tough cookie to befriend. she’s blunt, nosy, has high standards, and quick to call BS on anything she finds a little too sketchy for her liking.
that being said, she is kind and her heart’s in a good place. sometimes she’s just a bit overbearing in her beliefs and has a difficult time separating work and home.
i think that’s a general overview for now, but more to come at a different time,,,
