It took me a lot of time, but finally, I can post it
I got curious about what the deal is with pronouns and LGBT terms as gaeilge so I did some googling and HOW COOL is it that the word for transitioning comes from ‘a new springtime’? SPRING! A NEW BEGINNING! REBIRTH! love it!
giant redwood trees really are so cool, they just have something incredibly special going on. it's hard to describe if you haven't seen them
a certain je ne sequoia, if you will
The AIATSIS map serves as a visual reminder of the richness and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia.
For anyone who actually wants to read the map, here's a better view of it.
I have a suggestion

love when a mother asks if they have ever done anything to hurt you. ma'am, you will literally never be ready to have this conversation
what therapy do you think we can afford. what truths do you think you can survive
everyone clearly has a super normal relationship with their mother
growing up in 1950s roman catholic ireland did a number on both my parents psychologically, along with being raised by parents who were traumatised by growing up around (& later being young adults during) the rising, wwi, the irish civil war, & wwii
i tried to talk to my mother about it once, and she just looked at me agape, and said her mother never fought in the civil war
i'm aware of that, she was a child at the time! but witnessing wars happening around you at a young age, and seeing people you know going off to die in world wars twice changes you
and if my folks are totally unprepared to have conversations about how they've been traumatised by their traumatised parents, they are completely unready to face how they parented their kids 🙃
embraced by mama's serpentine neck...
oh it's so cute when they do it, but when i sit like that, it's "upsetting" and "humans shouldn't bend that way" 🙄
Seeing that Tucker Carlson clip going around and being reminded of conversations a year ago, so just a reminder. When Neo Nazis and White Supremacists say things that make sense politically, they're not coming at it from the same angle as you.
When David Duke expresses support for Palestine, it's not because he cares about Palestinians, it's because he hates Jews, and he wants to use Israel to harm diaspora Jews.
Neo Nazis see the justified opposition to Israel and its actions as a path into new crowds they can radicalize, or a way to launder their rhetoric and their politics.
They don't care about Iran and Iranians, they have a goal, and it's just as horrible as any White Supremacist goal. Especially when it's political figures and not some random bigot you know in your life that can be deradicalized because he's having some epiphany. To right wing figures, everything is a hunting ground.
Don't spread their words as if "even that horrible person sees how bad this is." Fascists have been stealing leftist ideas and talking points since the beginning. He doesn't suddenly care about people of color. He's seeing an opening for something and he's grabbing at it.
You have people you can platform that don't spread rhetoric that enables hate crimes on a regular basis.
Talking of disability aids, I did get this cool spoon recently which you can use without any grip at all. It has a long handle which can be bent to fit on your arm and once you get it right it's really quite effective.
At the moment it lets me about half a meal without help (apart from putting it on) in certain situations with my arm supported, and I can even use it with my hand splints on
ID two photos showing an adaptive spoon with a long, curled grey handle. In the first Photo it’s is lying on a tray next to a bowl of rice and an adapted mug. In the second it's been around echos wrist while they eat rice sat in bed with their arm supported by a pillow / end ID
( the company I got it from it's called Active hands)
find pride in protecting your community in the midst of the pandemic that never went away. pride not being accessible to disabled and marginalized people isn’t new. one simple step you can take this year to change that is to wear a mask. trans and queer folks are disproportionately affected by long covid—the folks you share spaces with every day. so put “we keep us safe” into action and find free masks and tests near you at covidactionmap.org or maskbloc.org! . . Photo ID: A doodled 2-panel comic. The top panel has four different shape characters, all smiling big. A square is holding a pink and blue sign with text that reads “We keep us safe”. A triangle is holding up a rainbow. An octagon and trapezoid are both holding a long colorful sign with text that reads “Protect trans & queer youth.” The bottom panel is filled in with gray. In the background are the four shapes from the top panel, but they are now silhouettes in the distance. A circle character stands in the foreground, looking towards the other shapes with a blank expression. They’re wearing a face mask and are holding a tiny pride flag that’s lowered to the ground.

I can't do much but maybe this will interest someone. This cookbook is by a classically trained autistic chef, made for people with sensory issues. It's sold 1/6th of its initial run because apparently no one wants to have an autistic person interviewed on TV.
Apparently it's also very funny.
An accessible family cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, and picky eater, with 46 recipe
Spread this around! I bet someone here can use this.

"An accessible family cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, and picky eater, with 46 recipes. This much-needed cookbook combines tips and techniques with a dash of understanding about food aversion and how to help your kids—and yourself—cook beautiful meals in an empowering way, and is a groundbreaking resource for anyone who has ever been called “picky” or “discerning.” Learn how to alter the texture or taste profile of a dish, or even fit it within a specific palette with a unique color-coded guide. Delicious, nutritious, and easily tailored recipes (including for gluten-free and vegan eaters) include:
the perfect smashed cheeseburger
Italian sausage and potato soup
the best omelet
stuffed focaccia
chocolate pinwheels
and dozens more
Professional chef Matthew Broberg-Moffitt’s advice is broken down by category (The Five Tastes, Texture, Color, Aroma, Presentation, and Plating) in order to address each and every aspect of food aversion, and a Food Preference Profile and Worksheet is included for you and your child to quickly identify and summarize their preferences. Instead of leading to mistrust by disguising or slipping in foods your kids don’t want to eat, this cookbook supports caretakers in a way that maintains a healthy relationship with food, and a joyful, less stressful experience around the table."

-deep breath-
A 'no questions asked' food pantry means no questions asked.
When we're stocking our pantry, we are not looking at a person's clothes or their accessories or what kind of car they drove there in. We are HAPPY to see it BEING USED AT ALL.
I don't know anyone's situation. Maybe they got that designer bag at a thrift shop. Maybe its a knockoff. Maybe it was a gift. Maybe they got it when they had money and now they don't have money. Maybe they're getting stuff for a friend.
Maybe they have plenty of money, don't need to be taking stuff from the pantry, but they are anyway because we said-
NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Do you know what happens when someone takes from our pantry when they don't need it? We're down one item. But maybe they tell someone that the pantry is there. Or maybe they come back to it when they need it. Or maybe they throw a dollar in the donation box. Or maybe they put an item on the shelf. Or maybe they come to our food drive.
WE DONT CARE.
We don't care who used it.
We care that it was used.
Im not a cop. Don't make me do cop stuff, I wont do it.

Yooo somebody on blue sky please ask where this mask is from-
it's a flomask!
this person's got the black cover (in the u.s. shop, there are sometimes different patterned covers available; so far the eu shop only has white/black/pale green available)
they've DIYed it a bit by sticking some spikes to the cover, and added some coloured/patterned fabric over the mask filter. (this should be a p thin fabric, so it doesn't affect the seal and compromise the flomask's effectiveness)
if you don't want to risk the seal by using fabric, & your local library has a 3D printer, you could also print snap-in covers for the flomask that come in all kinds of designs on yeggi or cults3d etc!
mask squad also has decals for flomasks, to decorate the plastic cover rather than covering up the filter area.
the flomask also has plastic studs for the headstraps to adhere to; you could definitely hook some decorative mask chains (or modified charm bracelets) over those or hook them onto the straps themselves.
i gave my flomask's headstraps rainbow stripes using fabric markers, because the default grey wasn't fun enough.
i'm sure there are loads of DIY/customisation options that i haven't thought of, too!
